I've just realize this lockdown will really be a hard time for the gamblers to stop, especially with them always staying at home, they will have more time to be tempted in gambling because they don't have anything to do.

This is an opportunity but the urge to stop should come from them, anytime can be the right time to stop as long as they are willing to do so. They will need help from professionals. Less sports and platform to gamble isn't a problem, they will always find a place to gamble if they are addicted to it. It will take a long time to stop. There will be lot of temptation, lot of effort.

Some will find avenue in online gambling.
But I guess, this is a good opportunity for gamblers to assess their situation.
Are they going to stop after this crisis or go back to old habit?
It is only them that can truly answer this question.

I can share the current situation here in our country.
One of the famous gambling scenes here is cockfighting. But because of this recent coronavirus outbreak.
The government has a temporary shutdown for all cockfighting.
But still, there are some people even government employees organized a illegal cockfighting which is the only secret for some people what to gamble.
This is really the cause of being a gambling addict, they always find a ways to gamble even they have to obey the law.

Most of the cockfighting enthusiast i could say are gambling addicts and with the recent lockdown, they suddenly and abruptly felt the effect of not being to gamble and see those cocks fighting and some of them just could not cope with that, they will always find ways to held those activities illegally which for me is very risky. Those government officials spearheading those illegal acts should be hang in the town plaza  Smiley, they are putting the health of their constituents in a great risk as we are on the midst of a battle which we can't see our opponents.

This is the right time for gambling addicts to relax and feel the effect of not gambling for weeks and if the effect is positive then moving away from gambling should be contemplated.

As we all know , Coronavirus has impacted each and every industry in the whole world and sports isn't an exception .
If you take a look at this  , https://www.nytimes.com/article/sports-canceled-coronavirus.html or https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coronavirus-and-its-impact-on-sporting-events-please-add-5232295 you will get to know how many tournaments across different sports have been affected .
But the question is , is this the right time for gambling addicts to come out of addiction? The assumption I am making here is  that the gambling addicts are addicts on sports betting and not casino game addiction or poker .
Why this question is because although I wanna bet on sports ( which I have been doing every week since 8 years ) now I cannot .

All sports were postponed as well the physical casinos are all closed. Most country declare quarantine or lockdown. Due to this I am sure lot of gamblers were stopped from physical gambling. Well as for others pass time, they may rely on online gambling or they may not too. Why ? We badly need money in this time of crisis to buy our foods and medicines to survive.

For me, I would say that this is the perfect time for gamblers to get out of their gambling addiction.

Although this is the thing I want, I can't control the feelings and the minds of the gamblers so they can stop today if they want or they will not. If gamblers who are gambling in casino can't resist himself and really wants to gamble, there is an alternative way to gamble and that is to gamble online so he will find a way just to gamble online. On the other side, if an addicted gambler that is gambling on a casino doesn't know how to gamble online then this is his perfect time to get out of his addiction to gambling Smiley.

Sports betting is more entertaining and this year will not be the same due to the suspension of the events.
But a sports betting addict will find some way to fill that gap. Perhaps their addition will decrease as there are no games.
The quarantine brings the cessation of totally generalized activities and people's habits will change completely for a while.

My government just put the entire country under lockdown for the next month so I guess it will be way more than 1-3 weeks ( considering it has already been 1 month of partial lockdown )

I guess we never know when everything will be back normal, but it will be fine soon after the government can handle the situations. Many countries have been lockdown for 1 month or more because they don't want to see more infected people by the virus. But addicted people can still play gambling because of they an addicted person in gambling which is difficult to get a cure. Maybe some gamblers can get treatment by visiting some professional to get help. And if they can do that, they will feel happy because they can solve the addicting problem.

I think it will definitely help some gambling addicts—particularly the ones that don't have knowledge of computers to migrate to online gambling.

Just like the way that clubs, bars and pubs will likely be a benefit to alcoholics.

Well that is one angle I hadn't looked it from . I was just thinking about those who knew online gambling . There are people who are offline gamblers and don't have much idea about online or are fearful to play online ( because of security and stuff ) .

However, it really depends on how the lockdown goes on for. I expect that most obsessive or problem gamblers can deal with around 1-3 weeks of downtime without truly recovering.

If they're forced to go more than a couple of months though, I think it will basically forcefully break their addiction by making them go cold turkey.

Are you trying to say that you're a gambling addict and you're looking at trying to get over your addiction during this time? Or that this is a good time for others to overcome their addiction? Everything in moderation, my friend. If you can't afford to lose the money, then please don't bet it. Otherwise, there are plenty of crypto-friendly betting sites you could visit if you're just bored. Smiley
I think now a days gambling addict was never leave the platform, because once it was interesting the gambling games automatically everyone continuously stay in a traffic sites. But every play games was bored once it will loose constantly all the gamblers left and move to some other interesting sites. I hope those are loose the entire money in gambling surely come out of addiction.
Its always been like that on where people do completely stop if they dont have money to spend on doing gambling because as long they do have still money into their pocket they would surely play no matter what.
Addiction is really a hard thing to be completely stopped as long you dont set your mind on serious stopping. No matter situation we are in either theres a pandemic or global crisis or whatsoever it doesnt really matter
because gambler will surely play in spite of the condition.Im not generalizing all people but most likely the case this had been the reality.

I think Addicted Gamblers will only quit when they finally realized their wrong doings because the more we urge them to change is the more eager they wanted to gamble and this is according to my own experiences as i have some people around me that is former addict in others are still addicted.
so no matter how long this Convid19 stays is the more the addict interested in playing, they can play online when casinos are closed and they can play with friends at home while they are in quarantine so the thing is?it is their desire and dedication to quit addiction.

Right time for the sports and casino gamblers to stay low right now.
I don't think that this could be their reason to quit for good and I doubt that there would be a gambler that would really quit for good even at a times like this.
I bet most of them would go back right after the virus is over.

I think it is not,

Most gamblers are still into gambling even sports have been canceled, they are still more prone to gambling since everyone is staying in their home and doing nothing due to lockdown issue. Gamblers will try to find another type of gambling such as card games or dice to kill some time.

This is the right time to stop gambling albeit this is a crisis. This circumstance is a very helpful way for people to rehabilitate without going to rehabilitation center.
Actually  this leaves them no option now but to repent from their addiction and think more functional than gambling.

for me?they must have changes before this pandemic ends so when the new morning comes they have no desire in gambling but to be productive again and to serve their family happily and forever.

I think it would only be applicable in casino gambling because gamblers can still play through online gambling, that is the better option that they may try to kill the time on their home. They are not allowed to play in casino gambling or real life gambling because it would be so danger if do so because real life gambling is a crowded places.

It's like a 2-3 month delay. I doubt that would be enough to remove their addiction. There's also the factor of that they could switch over to poker/slots/dice/etc. gambling temporarily, while sports gambling is currently out. Additionally, I suppose sports gambling addicts are quite used to waiting since the seasons are done with a time gap of a few months between each other, and tbh, they could honestly use this time to research more about the teams that are playing and naturally increase the odds of them winning through it. It's honestly a good thing sometimes, an addiction that is, but exceeding a certain point of that addiction can be quite dangerous.
Well said made, this situation would not be totally enough for them to remove their addiction on gambling but I think it would lessen some of their addiction for sure. but gambling can still on their home because they can play online gambling, which is similar to real life gambling, there are so many online gambling that they may try at home.

Personally I got deep into gambling when I felt loneliness. By that time I was in frustration as I hasn't got selected on any job interviews. This made me spend on gambling, and it is getting continued even after losing big. I've been trying to overcome the loss, and finally now I've limited myself.

There might be more users same as me, who has been suffering out of loneliness and spending the hard earnings on gambling. Now almost the entire world is within the home, using it an opportunity everyone can spend time with the family and get out of addiction. As more users mentioned it is right time to get out of addiction and spend for fun.
