I 've made feet for my rocketbox because when it was laying on its belly, the blade on the bottom overheated.
Also I tried fans on the outside heatsinks and it helps very much with the heat, the blade works 5 degrees Celsius cooler.
Unfortunately the RPi power cable wasn't in the box so I created a 5V feed from the PSU.

Did anyone replace the fan with a low noise, low power one?

The default one is 12v 1.3A, 129CFM and makes 50db noise (rockminer says 65db...sounds true)
http://www.nmbtc.com/fans/part-numbers/DC-Axial/4715KL-04W-B56/5267

Looking at the heating profile, the miner may need good airflow capacity.
Any idea if these work? http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17230/fan-1060/Sanyo_Denki_120mm_x_38mm_High-Speed_Fan_-_2600_RPM_109R1212H1071.html?tl=g36c435s1104
102CFM, 39dbA, 0.5A

Also considering Coolermaster JetFlo 120

Ive tried to setup my RK-Box with CGMiner 4.4.2,  but cant for the life of me get it running.
Ive setup the .bat file with the same string that is working fine on 4.3.2 but each time I try to open 4.4.2 from the .bat file, it flashes up then just closes. Obviously closed the earlier version first.

Is there some trick to getting it working with the newer CGMiner?
Any help would be appreciated.

Just add "pause" on the new line in your .bat file...

It will stop and you could see what is the problem / error message in cgminer screen... Wink

Thanks for that mate, it was erroring on the freq setting format id entered. At the end of the string I had
--RMU-FREQ=320 but got it going with the following.
cgminer.exe --Icarus-options 115200:1:1 -o stratum.btcguild.com:3333 -u x -p x --rock-freq=320
That last bit is somewhere earlier in this thread.
All seems a lot better now, hashrate is heading up to where it should be and the HW errors seem a lot lower as well. Also, its the only miner being run, no RBox or anything, just the RK-Box.
Thanks again, youre a champion.

Glad to help... Grin

Happy mining, buddy...

Cheers

I'm a lot happier after installing CGminer 4.4.2. I know have my Rbox and my RK-Box running at 320Mhz. The miners seem to be hashing at much higher rates and very stable. I'll update this post later when it's been running for a few hours. Seems like CGminer has the Rock and R boxes figured out now.

Did you try --rock-freq=320? How is rboxes responding to it? I remember earlier cgminer had a hard stop at 290Mhz for the rboxes (when rkboxes where not released). If thats the case, rkbox should run at 320 and rboxes at 270. I will check this once I reach home.
Yes, when you specify a freq greater than 290, it kicks them all back to 270.

I have removed rboxes and am running only rk-box at 320Mhz. Hashing at 490Gh/z with 3.8% h/w err. (cgminer4.4.1)

Has anyone self modified the RK-boxes and gotten better cooling results? I was thinking about taking it apart and setting it up like the R3, but wanted to see if anyone had done so.

If it's pointless, then I'll just keep my box fan behind it.

Off topic, what was the R2, or did we just go from rk-box to R3?

Rockminer, do you have plans to manufacture bigger miners like Edentech's 900+ GH/s miner?

updated the RPi SD card to 1.3.0 and am a little happier. PWM still seems useless, but cgminer seems able to accept frequencies outside of just 300/320/350.

Im running them at 300 now because i switched to smaller, barely-adequate fans (90CFM) that really need a box fan by the unit to cool the outer heatsinks if i want to get to/past 320MHz again. error rate is around 6% now too, which is an improvement

Changed to the latest cgminer. 1xrkbox and 2xrboxes are hashing together nicely. HW errors at 1.3% for the last 1.5hours :-)
Can you be specific which version? Are they running at different frequencies, and if so, how did you do it?
Installed cgminer 4.4.1 from the git source on the Raspberry Pi. They are all running at 270Mhz at the moment. I couldn't make them work with separate set of frequencies yet. Guess running rboxes at 270 and rkbox at 310 will be ideal.
OK. That's my experience too. It seems the results are similar (total hash rate) running the RK and R-Box at 270 or just the RK-Box at 320.
I've experimented with several frequencies, but at the moment 320 seems to be the about the most optimal for the RK.

Hmmm that is not good.

With the reject rates has anyone tried going to a pool like BTCG and manually setting the difficulty?  That seemed to fix the reject rate for the coincraft 1 th/s units I have had.  Letting the pool manage the baseline left high reject rates for some reason.  When I manually set the base the problem stopped.

No dice here.
