Ok, enough fun with gold
https://www.tradingview.com/e/A9moXR92/My theory remains that bitcoins trading price, that is, the general direction, up or down has been similar to gold since July and a chart showing good correlation since at least July of this year is linked above.
Watching general markets these past 30 days or so I've started going back to some extreme bearish chart projections I realized that Bitcoin technology might basically reinvent the equity markets allowing those that make the shift to transition away from the destruction that's about to occur.
Uber-bearish targets on the stock market: Jaws of Death scenario and its positive effect on Blockchain Technologies.
Gordon Long and John Rubino's Phase Shift article at Safehaven.com got me wondering about a bear market (Jaws of Death Level Bear market) effect on the blockchain.
This is simply a thought exercise on how the DOW and SP500 could basically vanish, never to return.
Longwavegroup's PDF from 2012 incorporates charts from McHugh and Prechter:
http://www.longwavegroup.com/publications/ians_investment_insights/2012/_pdf/121105_Ians_Investment_Insights.pdfSome of the downside targets are extreme, including one projecting a 97% drop from wherever price tops.
The following series of 'what-ifs' is my attempt to connect the dots on how a 97% drop in Indexes such as the DOW and SP500 could occur _without_ the world falling totally apart.
What if the number of IPO's declines as companies learn that programs like Swarm, Koinify and Lighthouse become the more favorable model of funding new ventures?
What if Overstock successfully moves off the traditional exchange in favor of a newly created blockchain equity model?
What if, as companies remaining on the traditional exchanges go out of business there is nothing to replace them, as all new companies choose the blockchain equity model over the Wall Street model?
These three things - the number of traditional IPO's dropping due to new funding models, existing companies moving to a new equity platform, companies naturally reaching end of life not being replaced in the index. That is how I see the possibility of markets such as the DOW dropping to between 400-1000 without the world falling apart.
