Another HORRIBLE game made from Argentina, all idiot decisions a lot of non sense plays. We need to level up the game really soon if we think we can do something in this world cup.

The ammount of lose ball we do.... i know it was wet but come on man....

I was looking forward to this game but it was an "early" start here and I only go to see
the last 13 minutes. I couldnt believe the score 16-3. I thought the scores would be higher.
I had a feeling the game would be close but for Samoa to only score once in over 75 minutes
is poor.

Main thing is Argentina got their win. All of a sudden Group D has turned into a race
between 3 teams for the second qualifying spot.

Next week Argentina could have a tough one against Chile next week.

Yes, this week there will be more closely matched teams. Having said that however, in just eight hours time France will obliterate Namibia (languishing at $67) before a much more restrained game between Argentina ($1.17) and Samoa ($5) I think it'll be a fairly close game, but Argentina will no doubt win.

Following on, Georgia ($1.12) and Portugal ($6.20) will be a one sided match up.

France v Namibia is up in a few minutes, its going to end up with a France win, I
actually not going to watch it, going to watch Fernandez v Kenin at the Guadalajara
open instead.

Tomorrows game should indeed be a good one and a tough one for both sides really.
On world rankings they are 10 and 11 and both teams need to win - moreso Argentina.
I have said this before but I have a soft spot for the Jaguars so I would like to see them
going through this one. Odds suggest Argentina will win, 1.18 v 5.80

League NRL

This time tomorrow, it will be the end of the season for either the Panthers ($1.12) or the Storm ($4.80) with nobody going for point spread bets (i.e. everyone thinks it'll be a very tight game).

The day after, the Broncos ($1.26) are expected to win their encounter with the Warriors ($3.20) which would give us a top two grand final.

The Warriors were second from the bottom at the end of last year IIRC so even if this weekend is their departure for the season, it's a remarkable turn around for them.

Panthers v Broncos for me in the final!

Rugby World Cup Italy v Uruguay

Before this game Italy were unbackable at 1.001, at half time the score line was: Italy 7 - 17 Uruguay,
IDK what the odds were like at half time but I would imagine the odds were healthier.

Right after half time Uruguay picked up a Yellow card, with a man over Italy took full advantage
and scored two converted trys resulting in a score of 21 - 17. The scoring didnt end there for
Italy and finished up as the odds suggested before the game

Well this coming Sunday Australia have a massive challenge against Wales who
also had a tough time against Fiji themselves. This is going to be a very close affair,
and I think I will back Wales TBH.

The last game from last weekend turned out as expected really England 34 - 12 Japan.
TBH the scoreboard kind of flatters England, they struggled with Japan for a
lot of the game.

Next round of games kick off tomorrow with Italy v Uruguay.

Further on at the weekend there are 2 very important games:

Argentina v Samoa - The Jaguars NEED to win this game

Ireland v South Africa - Arguably the most important game of the tournament, World no.1
v World Cup Champions.

Australia is struggling to win against Pacifica teams.  Earlier in the year I was watching on tV a NZ comp game being played in Dunedin and the commentators observed Australian teams (Waratahs, Reds etc) struggle to win on NZ soil.  I'm guessing the same goes for when Australian plays against NZ *anywhere* ??

Yea it was a tough one and its not a regular occurrence that play extends past 40 minutes
in the first half by that much. The comments after the match from some of the Irish players
shows they were not happy with some of their play.

As I suspected with the second game yesterday Australia were beaten by Fiji, I kind of
saw that coming after the Wales game (they were hard done by in that game by the ref!)

Welcome @rohang to the Rugby thread.

Its a pity your bet didnt land. The damage was done in extra time in the first half, maybe
Ireland had one eye on getting into the dressing room which left them defending their
try line and committing some penalties and a yellow card which after 4 minutes of pressure
Tonga went over for the try which was converted.

Tonga are a decent team with some former All Black players playing. Ireland didnt
take any chances and fielded their first team.

Ya that bet definitely should have hit.
You are right, some sloppiness from ireland cost it, those 2 penalty kicks were the bet loss guaranteed Sad

And as usual they didnt score single point in second half after hitting the over against my bet Sad

Occasional rugby bettor here, ireland vs tonga is just about to start and i fancied  myself a wager

Tonga team total under 10.5@ 1.8 odds

Fairly simple bet, If tonga couldnt score 10+ vs samoa they certainly shouldnt be able to score it against ireland

cheers all!

The Warriors lead 22 - 10 after fifty minutes. Given in the first fifteen minutes of the game the Warriors had piled on a point a minute, it's shaping up to be another tight finish.

Amazing - The warriors romped home adding another 18 points and were able to hold
the Knights to those 10 points. Just as I expected really.

Actually that second semi final is going to be tough enough, Broncos v Warriors!

Union RWC

And again as I said earlier Samoa will beat Chili - Final score 43 -10.

Just looking at the scoreboard for Wales v Portugal ... 7-3 hmmm wasnt expecting that
after the first half.

Very frustrating to watch on one hand and on the other we were treated to moments of pure
brilliance by the All Blacks.

There is no other way to say it than Namibia were very poor, they just couldnt hold onto
the ball, their handling skills were very poor. There were moments where they visited
NZ's 22  and attacked but ended up getting turned over.

Compared to their tier 2 peers Uruguay there is chalk and cheese.

Anyway more action today, I'm going to miss Samoa v Chili, I hope to be back to watch
Wales v Portugal then Ireland v Tonga.

Samoa, Wales and Ireland to win anyway.

New Zealand v Namibia has just started and after 2 minutes its 7-0...

That would have been a very painful game to watch:

I can't help but wonder how deflated the loosing teams feel when crushed in such a manor?  Then again, perhaps they have a sense of pride and accomplishment having achieved something by qualifying and playing against their heroes or mentors?

Well it played out just as I figured, I didnt think Melbourne would roll over and would look
for vengeance of sorts this week after last weeks performance. They now play the Panthers
for a place in the final.

Warriors v Knights tomorrow, for some reason I'm thinking the Broncos will have a slightly
easier semi final against either of these than the Panthers will against Storm Huh

The Roosters only fumbled twice - and lost because of it.

Melbourne drew first blood at the eighth minute, but failed to convert their two first half goals.  The did pick up a field goal penalty (twice!) to go to half time 10 - 6 looking spent.

With ten minutes to go, Sydney took the lead 12 - 13 but then five minutes from full time the last player in a multiple player ball pass got his fingertips to the ball and it went out to give possession back to Melbourne.  With less than two minutes to go Cameron Munster kicked the ball 40 metres along the try line which was caught by the last Melbourne player on the other side who then rolled and dove over the try line practically unchallenged by any Sydney players.  Melbourne then dragged the last 90 seconds of game play denying Sydney a chance to equalise at full time.

Melbourne will now face Brisbane against next week while tomorrow in Auckland, the Warriors take on Newcastle.

It's a tight end to a refreshingly different season.

In the RWC, looking at the odds, if I were to bet on every outsider and just say Japan won, then I'd get my money back.  If Japan and Fiji win I'd be ahead.  I'm going to mull over that one all night I think. (If say e.g. Romania, Portugal or Uruguay won as well, then I'd be much further ahead again...)

Its a very big ask Timelord...

I watched last nights game France v Uruguay. France had made 12 changes to their
team ahead of the meeting and they had a tough time against a decent Uruguay team.
At one point the scoreline was France 13 - 12 Uruguay. That was probably an opportune
time to put a bet on France.

France failed to secure a bonus point and Uruguay had a try disallowed so it was a very
entertaining game.

Final score: France 27 - 12 Uruguay

Next Game tonight - New Zealand v Namibia

With New Zealand's injuries and loss last week I'm not sure they are going to win after coming so far this year.

Likewise, Sydney are on top of their game while Melbourne suffered a bruising loss to Brisbane.

My wagers are placed, now it's just a waiting game (I should see tomorrow night's game in full - live (fingers crossed)

Sourced from Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_NRL_season the semi finals look like this so far:

Penrith and Brisbane are parachuted into the second last semis with their wins (via their being first and second on the ladder having then won their first encounter of the semis).  It's must win for Newcastle and Sydney to then square off.

Sydney *might* thump Brisbane to make it an all Sydney Grand-final (Penrith over Newcastle - in saying that - Penrith had a couple of upset losses, so let's see how this weekends games go)

Correction - Sydney AND Newcastle *might* thump Penrith and Brisbane to make it a head scratching Grand-final (misread the chart the first time)

Great chart, I have been trying to decypher how the finals work and looking at it now
it makes sense.

Winning the first finals week gets you straight to the semi final, losing means you have
another game to play.

Are Storm going to lose a second week in a row? they will want to make amends for
the horrid performance last week.

Warriors just based on their end of regular season ladder position of 4th V's Knights 5th
and with 2 more wins would be my pick but yea small margins....
