I'm not sure it's every year, however I do know that once the NRL Grandfinal is decided the Australian International squad is named and training begins (and not long after that, there are games).

I'll have to read up on them as the tab.com.au website has placed the various nation's teams into two Cups.

It's going to be a long night with four international games to choose from.

Interesting! I dont remember this competition from last year?

So its an international Rugby League competition among nations in the pacific.

Australia are big favourites 1.04 today against Samoa 10.0 or can do an over/under
bet 45.5 @ 1.85 ...

Papua New Guinea 1.08 - 7.6 Cooke Islands no other odds on this available ...

I think with those ML odds its unlikely there will be upsets, and I cant see any of the womens
matches being listed on ROLLBIT

RUGBY UNION WORLD CUP

2 quarter finals today

Wales v Argentina
Ireland v New Zealand

I'm going to miss the first one as ill be driving almost all day, hopefully I can catch
it on the radio.

The odds have changed slightly from last week on these matches:::

I thought the odds would be closer for the Wales v Argentina match, on ROLLBIT
they are: 1.55 - 2.65, IMO Argentina have a closer chance than the odds predict so I'll
take Argentina too.

Ireland 1.68 v 3.48 New Zealand - Ireland of course for this one.

Wales 1.56 - 2.75 Argentina
Ireland 1.68 - 2.43 New Zealand - Looks like NZ are getting a good bit of backing.

Starting tomorrow evening my time is the 2023 Rugby League Pacific Championships

followed a week later by week two:

and then a third weekend of competition before the finals.

In the men's games for week one, I'll go with Australia and PNG while in the Women's, I'm leaning towards NZ and Samoa.

Week two, I think I'll go for New Zealand and Fiji then the New Zealand and PNG teams for the women's comp.

I haven't placed any bets as yet and may changing my selections once I see what the odds are.

Well I'm not doing any parlay bets on these quarter finals, all the teams are capable of
beating each other IMO.

take Argentina too.

Ireland 1.68 v 3.48 New Zealand - Ireland of course for this one.

England 1.33 v 3.60 Fiji - I'm not betting on this one, I have a feeling Fiji could do a
bit of magic in this match but everything will have to work in their favour with a touch
of luck too...

France 1.77 - 2.20 South Africa - I think France will be victorious here especially if Dupont
is cleared to play. He is in full training after breaking his cheekbone!

Welcome back darxiaomi, yes good win by Argentina, they have actually got stronger as
their pool games progressed and they can beat Wales.

I watched all of the Fiji v Portugal match, one of entertainment because of the great line
breaks, power and Try scoring, and one of frustration because if all the handling errors.

Well done to Portugal on their 1st world cup match win

As for Fiji, I'm not sure they can beat England with a performance like that.

Ey guys! long time without being here!.

Nice win from Argentina against Japan, we made the job. I cant see the game because i miss the schedule, i think it was more late, but was in the morning.

I think we are in a very good position to go into semifinals, of all the teams who can be Wales seems to be the perfect one.

Fiji what was that? Nearby to throw away all the effort.

Australia is out of the Rugby World Cup after Portugal beat Fiji who picked up one point which makes them level with Australia but the game stats push them over the line and they (Fiji) are now into the semi finals.

Ill post a screenshot in a little while, but the semi finals are as follows:

Wales Vs Argentina

Ireland Vs New Zealand

England Vs Fiji

France Vs Republic of South Africa

Argentina has been something of a dark horse over the last twelve months, so i'm begining to think they might just give Wales a run for their money.

While domestically New Zealand (team members) have been playing tough games, i think Ireland will pound them into oblivion.  If that's the case, i'll transfer our wager over to aoluain as both of my teams will be out.  (if both Ireland and France then get knocked out if tge semi finals, the aoluain can send my wager back (less TX fees of course)

Goodluck to all teams.

Argentina are into the semifinals with a convincing win over Japan. At half time Japan trailed by just one point, but in the second half Argentina slowly edged ahead and by the seventith minute had etched out a comfortable lead.

Final score Argentina 39 - Japan 27

Next up, Tonga and Romania face off in around two hours.

Tonga did the business against Georgia, I only saw the last 20 minutes of this one,
thats when Tonga seemed to power ahead winning 45 - 24.

Argentina v Japan - great match, Japan looked very strong in the first half but Argentina got
stronger as the match went on. Both teams showed improved performances from their
last matches.

Argentina now play Wales in the quarter finals and have a real chance to go to the semis
if they can improve further.

Just watching Fiji v Portugal in a very evenly matched game ... so far

Half time 3-3

Ireland beat Scotland 36 - 14
England only just scraped in over Samoa 18 - 17
Wales convincingly bet Georgia 43 - 19

I saw in Friday that England are already into the semi finals even before their encounter with Samoa.

Argentina play Japan in a couple of hours. I'm still expecting Japan to win but it's a must win for both teams who are tied for second on nine points in their group.  Then, as the day progresses, Romania and Tonga square off before Portugal and Fiji play.

3 matches yesterday went fairly well as expected....results wise.

I watched this match and TBH the final score suggests a handy win for Wales but Georgia
troubled them for a bit and with 60 minutes gone it was 24-19 but after thay Wales ran in 3 trys.

Wales play either Argentina or Japan in the Quarter finals

The scoreline says it all, England left it late to score their winning Try and conversion
on the 76th minute. I didnt see this one but even if they had lost I think they would
have claimed top spot.

England play potentially Fiji if they beat Portugal today.

As expected, eventhough there was a lot of talk that Scotland had a real chance of
beating Ireland, Ireland won - comfortably.

Ireland play New Zealand in the Quarter finals

Next up in about an hour Japan play Argentina in a pool D decider for second place.
The odds are 5.2 for Japan to 1.21 for Argentina. Based on Argentinas performance
so far I think Japan have a chance to win and 5.2 is a great price, they will have to lift
their performance too though....

New Zealand - over 79.5 @ 1.85 is a realistic bet I think!

Alternatively Uruguay under 79.5 @ 2.45?

Final score 73 - 0

I get the "over" but what does it mean "under" for Uruguay?  I can never figure those bets out. (serious question) does that mean if they keep New Zealand to under a 79.5 leed you win a payout?

Yes thats it! you are kind of betting on the losers but losing within a window of points.

With the last play of the match NZ had an attacking move which almost resulted in another
try, luckily Uruguay defended to the last second and won a penalty....phew.

Tomorrow, Italy and France... (look away, it's going to be painful)

I really hope Italy can put in a decent performance against France and get totally shell shocked
like what happened against New Zealand and let 96 points pass them.

New Zealand v Uruguay up in about 15 minutes in the first of the last round of pool matches.

Alternatively Uruguay under 79.5 @ 2.45?

There are some very important pool matches this weekend and some which will
rely on points difference.

Matches of the weekend to determine qualifiers and or 1st and 2nd spots:

Ireland v Scotland
Japan v Argentina
Fiji v Portugal

EDIT ********************

New Zealand v Uruguay - Half time 26-0

and Uruguay are now 1.4 for under 74.5

At the moment, South Africa (15) England, Wales, Ireland (14 each) and France (13) are all at the top of the points with Australia (11) and New Zealand (10) and Argentina (9) filling the top two of each pools.

(source https://www.rugbyworldcup.com/2023/pools )

The semis according to the website show the top two teams from each pool progress as follows:

which would mean Japan will be out unless they can overtake Argentina (the same goes for Fiji overtaking Australia)

Most of the games are very one sided (especially when it comes to the odds on offer)

Australia have blown out to $501:1 so the punters don't feel they're going to win.

Japan is at $6 against Argentina. While I'd like to see Argentina do well in the cup, I've put a dollar on Japan to win that game.

The world cup always shows up the difference between tier 1 and tier 2 teams,
in Rugby unfortunately the difference can be massive. I think its similar in Soccer
when it comes to world cup time but sometimes lesser teams can hold out for
a draw or be beaten by only 1 goal.

The team of the tournament as a lot of commentators are talking is Portugal.
Even though they lost 2 and drew 1 their attacking play and scoring ability
has been noted but as I mentioned before the tier 2 teams tend to struggle wil
the set pieces.

Japan v Argentina - this could be a close one. Both teams are under performing
and both need to lift that when it comes to the quarter finals.

Nice one Timelord!

4 Grand final appearances for the Panthers and 3 wins in a row! Serious team and a great
season for them after a shaky start to the season.

Union - World Cup

Last round of pool matches this weekend coming starting with New Zealand v Uruguay
on Thursday followed by France v Italy on Friday. That will be pool A sorted and its going
to be France and New Zealand going through. I would live to see Italy trouble France.

On the non crypto tab.com.au site I've been putting $1 in each of the top four teams on the ladder for the "to make too eight" to make top four" "to make the GF" "to win the GF" etc

I made overall $100+ on top of what I put in which has refilled my wallet quite nicely.

I also had two parlays in the GF one the women's and men's games which won and a second parley including the Brisbane Tigers whi lost their game.

All up I picked five or six from each round enabling me to break even, or, get a little ahead.

Yes, the grand final was bizarre. The Broncos gave the Panthers eight points, then lost by two. Adam Reynolds was just about in tears with a haunted look on his face after ful time.

Great comeback.

Bad day really at the office for the Broncos kicker, that first short kick and resulting
try by the Panthers inside the 20th minute was comical. He did make all his conversions
though. Great game though, very close fought but the Panthers were stronger in the
last 20 minutes.

I loke that it wasnt a one sided affair and the two best teams of the season got
to battle it out for the title.

I definitely didnt make any money this year on the NRL, the early season killed me.
