Tomorrows game is interesting - New Zealand v Italy.

Even if actually my Country has performed well in this world cup, I don't know if there is a real match since each time Italy has ALWAYS loss (bad Sad ) against NZ.
Ok NZ is not the best NZ team that we have see but it's still too strong for them Sad

Final result today, Japan held out against a late push from Samoa, Japan did actually
deserve to win.

Pool D is hotting up now, Japan in 2nd spot and Argentina have to make their move on
Saturday against Chile, second spot could be determined by points.

In Oz the news is all about the NRL (and to a lesser extent in Qld) the AFL grand finals being played this weekend.

Brisbane has a team in each Grandfinal including the NSW Cup GF hours before the NRL women's and Men's GF

I'm off Sunday and hoping to catch some of the games. (More coffee I think)

Are you doing a multi bet on the Brisbane teams?

Very true the Pacifica teams can't be discounted, but I feel Japan will dig deep to win.

As I expected Uruguay won. I dont think it was a one sided game, half time score was interestingly-
Uruguay 12 - 20 Namibia. I wonder what the odds were on Uruguay  at half time?

Todays game- Japan v Samoa I have to disagree with you Timelord, I fancy Samoa and they are
favourites to win @ 1.61.

I havent been impressed with Japan so far and Samoa will want to secure that second pool spot
ahead if Japan and put big pressure on Argentina.

Even for a low end game such as this, the Uruguay v Namibia match was fairly one sided with the final score 36 - 26

https://www.rugbypass.com/rugby-world-cup/fixtures-results/

Tomorrow, Japan take on Samoa and then the day after New Zealand and Italy clash.  I'm expecting Japan to win in a close game while New Zealand should easily win.  (and we're still only in week four)

Rugby World Cup

One game on today from Pool A, Uruguay v Namibia. Neither team have any points,
between them they have conceded 244 points.

I am expecting a Uruguay win today being the favourites @1.09 (Namibia are 8.0)

Neither team is going to make it out if the pool so its a game to get some points on the
board and register a win. It could also be a game riddled with handling errors.

Commentators have been doing some serious navel gazing during the last 24 hours since Australia's pounding by Wales. They're uncertain who to blame with calls for the coach to be sacked or resign. Others are focusing on the team being not of "international standards" - the way they are talking, it's as though they don't know anything about Rugby and are just looking to fill air time.

In any event Wales have won three matches, so they are definitely one to watch going forward.

Well a lot of commentators have been saying Australian Rugby Union is struggling
currently. Look back to this years Rugby Championship where they were beaten
in all 3 games so the trouble has been going on for a while now.

I dont know much about Australian Rugby to know how to fix it but the amount of
errors was quite high.

As for Wales they are into knockout territory now and will play second place of
group D I think.

This just finished, Australia were totally dominated by Wales. They held Australia to
two penalties scored in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Its now looking like Australia possibly wont get out of the pool, Fiji are in the driving seat
for that second spot while Wales are the first team into the quarter finals.

In both codes Union and League the error count really affects a teams outcome.
Because the game is built on set pieces of play if they are not executed properly a teams
ability to win is seriously compromised.

Who will win the Grand Final?  Unless the Broncos dial up their game play, it will be the Panthers who win.

The Panthers are definite favourites, the odds are close and I'm siding with the Broncos
purely for something different.

In another hour or so Australia faces elimination their clash with Wales who have won two games already.   I was just listening to the BBC World service make mention of this fact and the prospects aren't good.

In the weekend of preliminary finals of the NRL as expected, both the Panthers and Broncos are into the 2023 Grand Final with emphatic wins over their opponents.  In both games, the game play was fairly evenly matched, but after 20 - 25 minutes, the errors started.  In the Panthers case, they played better.  In the Broncos case, their oponents, the Warriors fell by the wayside.  I think the Broncos won simply by not having as many errors.

Let me start this post with Irelands massive win over South Africa in the RWC.

No offence to either Tonga or Romania but Irelands WC campaign has started in ernest.
Super test Rugby, very close game and very tense. That was billed as probably one of the
most important games.

I didnt bet on this one and I dont know what the odds were for it beforehand.

Also yesterday as expected England trounced Chili 71 - 0. Chili's execution of the basic
set pieces was not great at all so trying to get a foothold in the game was going to be
impossible.

Georgia v Portugal - very exciting game, it ended up 18 points each.

League NRL

As expected its going to be a Panthers v Broncos Grand Final.

Another HORRIBLE game made from Argentina, all idiot decisions a lot of non sense plays. We need to level up the game really soon if we think we can do something in this world cup.

The ammount of lose ball we do.... i know it was wet but come on man....

I was looking forward to this game but it was an "early" start here and I only go to see
the last 13 minutes. I couldnt believe the score 16-3. I thought the scores would be higher.
I had a feeling the game would be close but for Samoa to only score once in over 75 minutes
is poor.

Main thing is Argentina got their win. All of a sudden Group D has turned into a race
between 3 teams for the second qualifying spot.

Next week Argentina could have a tough one against Chile next week.

Yes, this week there will be more closely matched teams. Having said that however, in just eight hours time France will obliterate Namibia (languishing at $67) before a much more restrained game between Argentina ($1.17) and Samoa ($5) I think it'll be a fairly close game, but Argentina will no doubt win.

Following on, Georgia ($1.12) and Portugal ($6.20) will be a one sided match up.

France v Namibia is up in a few minutes, its going to end up with a France win, I
actually not going to watch it, going to watch Fernandez v Kenin at the Guadalajara
open instead.

Tomorrows game should indeed be a good one and a tough one for both sides really.
On world rankings they are 10 and 11 and both teams need to win - moreso Argentina.
I have said this before but I have a soft spot for the Jaguars so I would like to see them
going through this one. Odds suggest Argentina will win, 1.18 v 5.80

League NRL

This time tomorrow, it will be the end of the season for either the Panthers ($1.12) or the Storm ($4.80) with nobody going for point spread bets (i.e. everyone thinks it'll be a very tight game).

The day after, the Broncos ($1.26) are expected to win their encounter with the Warriors ($3.20) which would give us a top two grand final.

The Warriors were second from the bottom at the end of last year IIRC so even if this weekend is their departure for the season, it's a remarkable turn around for them.

Panthers v Broncos for me in the final!

Rugby World Cup Italy v Uruguay

Before this game Italy were unbackable at 1.001, at half time the score line was: Italy 7 - 17 Uruguay,
IDK what the odds were like at half time but I would imagine the odds were healthier.

Right after half time Uruguay picked up a Yellow card, with a man over Italy took full advantage
and scored two converted trys resulting in a score of 21 - 17. The scoring didnt end there for
Italy and finished up as the odds suggested before the game

Well this coming Sunday Australia have a massive challenge against Wales who
also had a tough time against Fiji themselves. This is going to be a very close affair,
and I think I will back Wales TBH.

The last game from last weekend turned out as expected really England 34 - 12 Japan.
TBH the scoreboard kind of flatters England, they struggled with Japan for a
lot of the game.

Next round of games kick off tomorrow with Italy v Uruguay.

Further on at the weekend there are 2 very important games:

Argentina v Samoa - The Jaguars NEED to win this game

Ireland v South Africa - Arguably the most important game of the tournament, World no.1
v World Cup Champions.

Australia is struggling to win against Pacifica teams.  Earlier in the year I was watching on tV a NZ comp game being played in Dunedin and the commentators observed Australian teams (Waratahs, Reds etc) struggle to win on NZ soil.  I'm guessing the same goes for when Australian plays against NZ *anywhere* ??

Yea it was a tough one and its not a regular occurrence that play extends past 40 minutes
in the first half by that much. The comments after the match from some of the Irish players
shows they were not happy with some of their play.

As I suspected with the second game yesterday Australia were beaten by Fiji, I kind of
saw that coming after the Wales game (they were hard done by in that game by the ref!)

Welcome @rohang to the Rugby thread.

Its a pity your bet didnt land. The damage was done in extra time in the first half, maybe
Ireland had one eye on getting into the dressing room which left them defending their
try line and committing some penalties and a yellow card which after 4 minutes of pressure
Tonga went over for the try which was converted.

Tonga are a decent team with some former All Black players playing. Ireland didnt
take any chances and fielded their first team.

Ya that bet definitely should have hit.
You are right, some sloppiness from ireland cost it, those 2 penalty kicks were the bet loss guaranteed Sad

And as usual they didnt score single point in second half after hitting the over against my bet Sad
