We've heard a lot of rumors about star players who will play in the SPL, of course this will make the SPL even more interesting to watch. Starting from Cristiano, Benzema, Kante and many other players strengthening big teams such as Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal. Last I heard rumors about Son Heung-Min being interested in one of the clubs, but he told the public that he had rejected the offer with a fantastic salary and chose to stay at Tottenham Hostpur.
What do you think? is this a sign that the future of football in Asia will be even better? or is this actually a setback because the presence of these big stars will make local potentials no longer visible?
This league will be intresting next season with so many new signings but i still wonder what will the quality be because all other clubs are just weak and we will see only 3 good teams in this league. Plus i still wonder if Cristiano Ronaldo will stay in this league or try and play the champions league.
Don't ask about domination in the SPL, even before the arrival of these star players, the three clubs have won the last 7 seasons. Here's the list:
1. 2022/23 - Al-Ittihad
2. 2021/22 - Al-Hilal
3. 2020/21 - Al-Hilal
4. 2019/20 - Al-Hilal
5. 2018/19 - Al-Nassr
6. 2017/18 - Al-Hilal
7. 2016/17 - Al-Hilal
Regarding Cristiano, he will stay at Al-Nassr if we refer to the statement he made in early June.
I think the main focus of the SPL right now is to attract more attention from the football world and increase the quality of competition in the league itself. And we must also realize that there are only 4 clubs that are most actively hunting for top European players at the moment. The clubs are Al-ittihad, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Al-hilal. And please also note that the four clubs are owned by the same owner. namely PIF Saudi Arabia (Public Investment Fund) which is also the owner of one of the clubs in the premier league, namely Newcastle.
I just found out that the four clubs are owned by the same company, it's no wonder the SPL looks like it's dominated by the same clubs. In addition, it turns out that Al-Ahli Saudi is currently in the second division of the saudi league, but they finished this season perfectly and next season they will return to the SPL again. Hopefully, SPL gets attention from the public, it is possible that it will also have an impact on the AFC Champions League and the clubs that are there.
