Ugh, my 1.2 wallet just froze up trying to send some coins to my 1.3 wallet on another machine. Is this to be expected?  Huh

I just tested my 1.2 wallet, without any issues.
Is it still running?
Could you possibly mail me the debug.log file?
[email protected]

^Is this guy great or what!? LOL

Is it just me or does SDC solve a lot of BTC's troubles?

The quote below I now dedicate to Shadow. When I said these word about DRK, Shadow did not exist. I dumped out of DRK once MN's were announced. I missed the pump entirely. I was waiting for Shadow.

Now we are the grasshoppers.

Dont you think there's a risk of raising fears simply by pointing that out? Why even mention it? It might appear defensive if we emphasize how we dont condone a, b or c?

Darkcoin is more like electronic cash than Bitcoin - thats it.

If people could stop banging on about using it for dodgy activities that would be a start. Just shup up about your drugs - nobody cares what you do with your money. Thats the point.

Ok, that might be true.

Just frightening to think about  selling and buying humans, organs, drugs etc. with Darkcoin on the internet, not to mention all the scams that will be easily pulled off with Darkcoin.

Humans are scary. Old story.
Darkcoin is cash. What you do wit your cash is up to you.

The name DarkCoin already implies where it may be used best imo

That's entirely subjective. Darkness hides things and some things are not for the seeing.

Anonymity and darkness share this quality.

Some people are in fear of anonymity. To them it means lawlessness,  lack of accountability and anarchy. These people are ants.

We are grasshoppers.

Hi all

After much planning and development, we are proud to bring you our latest release.  Many of you have been involved in the testing process, and we are very thankful for all the help that has gone into this release.

The main feature in this release is ShadowSend v2, but here's a list of other improvements we've made during the development cycle:

  • Anonymous transactions using zero-knowledge proofs
  • Multiblock download (Thin and Full Modes)
  • ShadowChat now shows unread message count instead of total message count
  • Ring size suggestion for Shadow spend transactions
  • HTML options page
  • Transaction type display selection
  • Notification type selection
  • Enable/Disable Thin Mode from options

We thank you all for your patience as well, and without this community, this release would have never been possible.

Without further ado, here is our WP:
ShadowCash: Zero-knowledge Anonymous Distributed E-Cash via Traceable Ring Signatures

Anonymous ZK transactions will only work from block 257000 onwards, as to prevent too many forks in the chain.

This is a mandatory upgrade, so please make sure you are on v1.3.0.5 before the weekend.

OMG!

The Blockchain just got a WHOLE lot better!
"What a long, strange trip it's been"

This is the Dream. This is what Satoshi wanted. This is the Dream

THX RYNO + TECHOVERT: YOU GUYS JUST CHANGED THE GAME!

for mandotary update, is it enough to download and use the wallet 1.3.0.5

or we should re-download the whole blockchain

i am using lite mode, any difference

Just the wallet.
The blockchain will always be, it never changes.

That's interesting, didn't know someone was doing PoS with cryptonote Smiley
Our Anonymous outputs don't stake, so as Shadow, there is no coin age, or no coin really.
Only once converting back to SDC will you be able to stake.

Pretty cool. It works almost like a "sin tax," an anonymous user will pay a penalty in both the additional transaction fee and the fact that his Shadow is not staking. And the staking users will receive the benefits of those heavy fees.

One possible way to improve this would be to charge the 100X fee only when converting the SDC to Shadow. That way a user who uses his coins only for ZK transactions won't be converting back and forth from Shadow to SDC. Would that save some work for the blockchain?

That would be cool, but converting from SDC to Shadow is very lightweight compared to spending shadow as ring signature generation, signing and verification only happen when spending shadow.

I think the important thing to bear in mind, is that you have the ability to make your SDC disappear, or to remove the link between the coinbase / last shadow conversion Smiley

Why there is no reference to Cryptonote on whitepaper?
Zero Knowledge + ring signatures is nothing more than Cryptonote.
Shadowcash is just cloning Monero without giving its credits and lying that is creating something new and revolutionary.
And everyone here know it.

From cryptonote white paper:

https://cryptonote.org/whitepaper.pdf

You can't read the reference at the end of the WP ?

Cryptonote uses a different curve, different libraries, and a whole different underlying core.
We used ring signatures to spend Shadow, which is created by sending SDC as an anonymous output.
Our scheme is quite a bit different, in that we borrow concepts from zerocoin, with the minting and spending, and use ring signatures to make the inputs untraceable from the outputs.. We're also using PoS instead of PoW.
Its a completely unique scheme and implementation Smiley

Thanks for reply.
But ring signatures + pos,  doesn't that boolberry dev is developing with open source and offering bounties for those who find security holes, as you can see in this link? https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9821753
Ring Signatures + pos not makes the coin extremely vulnerable to threats?"

Why?
I just have some technical questions to ask

Well for one you account name is a fud newbie name directed at a member of the actual SDC community.. Grow a set and use ur regualr account not a newbie made strictly to fud

Is the code fully open source now or partially open

Who can clarify this point

Is possible that copy/paste devs copy our code

We left out the RPC commands and the new UI for now, as people would want to validate the actual inner workings of anonymous transactions.
They would be able to copy and paste the code, but they will have to do quite a lot of development in order to use it.

Congrats again Ryno and the team!!
