Topic: Should Bitcoin's logo color be gold, and not orange? (Read 4620 times)

8 straight pages of absolute closed-mindedness. You guys don't even want to think about it. "It was made orange, and that's how it'll stay". Great. I get that you all love Satoshi, and you don't want his design getting lost in the mist. The reality is that colors absolutely matter. They provoke subconscious feelings from the person that views it.

Again, not trying to be rude, but....you guys don't know what you're talking about at all. You all work in computer engineering and not psychology or fashion....

Honestly, when I accidentally bumped into this website, there was a reason behind it. It was to help propell Bitcoin to better heights. Well, I guess this topic can end now, because talking to technological people about fashion or psychology is like talking to somebody in a different language.

Well i think that the bitcoin color is flat in general.
But you can see some imitation and see sometime in google as a gold color.
The orange color it's good and brings attention to users when they visit a website.
-sigh- just.....forget it then.

Unlike how Japanese media falsely portrays bitcoin, there is no "Bitcoin CEO" or board of directors to petition or form consensus around. There is no official bitcoin logo color and many examples exists in many colors. Design a neat product or logo and we will use it or pay for it if it looks good. Just because someone prefers orange over gold doesn't mean they won't also like gold as well in addition to orange.

Many designs can and will coexist simultaneously. I understand that can lead to branding confusion which isn't a good thing but we have no choice with this as bitcoin represents a permission less decentralized project.

Carry on with your design and don't get discouraged that people have different aesthetic tastes.

Yes orange colour has more attraction than any other colour by nature. But my personal opinion is colour is less criteria for the success of bitcoin, only popularity is the most ever needed things to make bitcoin more successful.

Well known of you are fashion designers or psychologists.

I'm not trying to be rude with that statement. I'm just being honest. I did not go to school for Fashion design, but I took up plenty of internships so I think that counts.

Look forward to seeing more or your work. You may even be able to sell some of your designs if they look good. Have a great day.

Craig Wright is scammer.
Orange is way better then gold.
Orange gives it a look that a virtual currency should have whereas gold will make it more close to THE REAL GOLD  Tongue

Gold is too pretentious. Orange looks more stylish and fits Bitcoin better, it's more original than resorting to Gold which is a very boring asset. Bitcoin must be different. I find the design of the Bitcoin logo really nice on the eyes, slick and simple. Whoever did this design did a good job. An since it is Creative Commons free we can use it anywhere we like for free.

I do not think it should be gold because people already too closely associate BTC with XAU.
Orange is bold and makes a statement. No need to downplay things.
It's fine if you genuinely believe it shouldn't be changed. As far as it does go, I feel like I accidentally stumbled across this website for a reason. That reason was to shape this currency and propel it onto a larger playing field. Branding and mass marketing are an important aspect of becoming relevant and mainstream. It's not like you can just come up with an idea and say you want to make it orange for no actual reason at all. Certain colors subconsciously build specific emotions and reactions within the human mind after being captured by the human receptors. Orange has an appeal of being somewhat....laid back. We cannot be having a logo that looks laid back. We want something stern and powerful and luxurious. If we want Bitcoin to grow, details such as this are important to think about.

To you tech savvy humans that have no interest in fashion or psychology, I must inform you that this might not be a big deal to you. To me, it states a huge deal.

To you, and the many other tech savvy human beings on this sight that are not into fashion or psychology like myself don't understand how these details are crucial. Every detail counts. I am not about to compromise at all.

First off, if your going to post a question on a forum you should expect criticism.
I might be pessimistic and I am proud to be. I am not a dreamer as you seem to be. I am a realist.
You should learn to accept that everybody has their own opinions.
No need to be offended and take offense. And no, I don't have 1 btc because I have not worked for it because I am busy working at my real job and until the day that bitcoin is worth more than the hours I put in my job per day, I will not work full time trying to earn 1. Living in reality is much more harder than putting complete faith into something so volatile.
If you disagree with that, then I respect that as it is your decision.
I expect commentary, but I expect it from follow bitcoiners that are actually trying to get this currency popular to see the price increase. I know how you feel about your everyday job, but I had a job too until I quit it to do this full time. I decided I had over 40k in the bank which will last me a year with the extra assistance I get from my sister in law who is now living with me, and I'm now focusing on doing my designs for Bitcoin full time for the fact that I believe in it.

My point is if you don't believe, don't show up. It's like an atheist walking into a church. Why be in a place that is dedicated to a concept you don't fully believe in? It makes no sense to me.
I am here to have others make me believe in it.
May your new logo design do that to me and the masses  Smiley
Good luck!
I shouldn't always necessarily have to make you believe. You should just believe on your own.

i think its should colored gold, because bitcoin have value like a gold, not like orange fruit  Grin

gold is only gold because of a 'shine', otherwise its just a slightly brown version of yellow.
so if you think gold is great.. im guessing there will be 7 pages of which shine and shading will work best..

so lets just skip dozens of pages of more orange and gold.. and lets just see if people can agree on any kind of gold.

if it shows that there are too many choices and indecision about gold, then obviously the standard colour should remain.. as no one can agree to a change
Hahaha!

Don't do that to me. I already picked the gold.

...And your point is....

I interpreted your statement "what in the world" to reflect unfamiliarity of the current trend in graphic design, thus I was providing you with information. Should have I interpreted your statement in another way?
No, you're good.

The orange color looks better than the gold one. The gold one looks like it is from the 00's, the orange one is more modern and interesting.
I would agree with you, I like the orange color.

Maybe one day btc price will be way higher than gold one  Wink

The current logo has a flat design which makes it modern and "sexy"
......What in the world...

Most graphic artists are familiar with "flat design" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_design
as it is especially popular with websites and program graphics and a lot of graphic marketing materials and logos with technology companies. Notable examples that use flat design is Apple and Microsoft.

Can I put this in the OP? I'll quote you.

You are being too polite... it is commonly accepted on this forum that anyone has a right to quote another without asking for permission. Bitcoin is an open source project after all so most aren't overly controlling of words as long as they aren't taken out of context.
