Still Bitcoin is number one cryptocurrency and most powerful coin I think Bitcoin is better than litecoin because litecoin introduced litepay system but it's not popular in crypto users.
You should buy bitcoin, as you can see the price of bitcoin up and down you will earn profit if you invest for short term. I think litecoin is good for long term.

No, it's not a very good choice! Litecoin is almost like bitcoin, it will never offer anything innovative enough to become a real competitor or at least a strong coin. The creator of ltc said he sold all of his litecoins and I guess there was also news about the co-developer starting his own project instead of working on litecoin. Bitcoin is #1 and currently the price is really low. There's even no transaction problem right now (I performed one like a couple of weeks ago and it cost me 15 cents or something), so the coin is pretty good and surely the safest investment on the cryptomarket, because it has the biggest support.
I think there's no need to ask what should you buy because it's too obvious and it's clear as the sun is the answer. Choose the one who's stabilize and have a big community and don't choose something that's inferior to superior.

If the two coins are only your choices then I will pick bitcoin since it is the first of its kind, widely accepted digital currency and the main pair in exchanges. Although btc and ltc are both well-established I think its safer to just go with btc. You can have your own research if you're confuse then make a conclusion and dont just rely with our suggestions. If you are insisting that you just one coin to invest i think bitcoin is still the safest bet. Just check the price history of bitcoin, it has proven itself multiple times. Do not get me wrong litecoin is still great but there is a reason why we call bitcoin the king of crypto currency.
