Bitcoin is more specific in terms of becoming world-wide. Litecoin is more unpredictable and it does not provide that safety as Bitcoin provides.

Longterm I think bitcoin will increase more in price than litecoin, especially after the recent developments in the litecoin camp. It is a safer bet I guess.

Why do you have 2 options between Bitcoin and Litecoin? There are many other potential coins. I recommend you buy IOST, it's on 45th position now on coinmarketcap. IOST is a good and high potential coin, you can hold for long term investment.
