Slimcoin - the Proof of Donation inventors!
is the project still alive?
on green market price dropped to 1 sat

I think it is. At least we are working hard since many months on the idea of the community token which would provide us the governance system that is more advanced than masternodes from different aspects.
There is also an idea on how to upgrade our code @d5000 is working on and in my opinion there is a good chance for us to overcome the situation we are in with this part.

The price indicates nobody knows/believes in what we are working on, but it this stage it's quite indifferent.
Once we have the token ready to launch we'll have something concrete to speak about and than we'll need to find the way to make it known to the outside world.
If we manage to have this part done we would be able to see whether what we've invented is something that the market would appreciate or not, thus the price would become relevant.

I answered you by PM. There seems to be a configuration issue at Reddit. In mid-January I will go on with development & testing, don't worry Smiley

Hi @d5000,
I'm a bit worried about our token testing.
I've posted some consideration on reddit about 10 days ago, but got no answer.
I'd be going on testing as usual thinking you are just busy and that you'd reply later but I've got a strange issue with all my posts being marked as spam there, so I was forced to approve them manually.
Thus I'm not really sure you are getting my communications (both publicly and privately) and whether you haven't replied by chance and I'm not seeing your replies because of the same issue.
Please let me know, so I can go on testing.

Hi all Slimcoiners! Are there any news, any progress going in development or anything? Is the project completely abandoned?
Not abandoned at all, although there is still no new client release (the problem is that an update to modern Bitcoin/Peercoin code needs much work; there is an initiative working on it but may still take time), but there are other developments going on (see my last post here from March). I think to see the developments it's best to look into the Discord channel here (if the link doesn't work, this is a current invite link).

Except that someone has almost more than 60% of the hashrate ^^' ...

so, mates
is slim dead ?
i sold anyway
It depends how you define "dead". Grin

It's still a very small altcoin with interesting features and old code, the update process (afaik) is currently on hold.

But I'm still working on the token project I've been working on since mid/late 2020. Peerassets (slm_exp branch) and pacli (its text interface) now are functional on Slimcoin, so everybody who likes can issue tokens (not recommended still for production/commercial purposes). However, there is no working DEX still because Peerassets doesn't support it by default, I'm working on a solution (concept is ready but coding is still in its infancy).

A more advanced token (visit #pod-token at Discord for more info) is in alpha testing, a public testing session will be held soon (still in April '22 if everything goes well).

And price looks still good Smiley

Well, as @gjhiggins mentioned in 2019, I spent a lot of of time on SLM previously (May 2017 - June 2019), and was disappointed with Barrystyles responses (or lack of them), although Graham have made some improvements to SLM code based on what Barry have done. @gavarillo77 is the one that made contributions, you can ask him.

I was immersed with other project, where I'm currently a lead research analyst (coinpaprika) and ending my education, so due to no time, and other things I almost, almost forgot about Slim, but I always have wallets on my PC, so I just wouldn't forget ofc.

I will try to support network with some minimal effort, cuz I don't have more time, and also - I agree with with what @gjhiggins said in 2019.

Dunno, as I know he just didn't do it.
Maybe he refunded people, but I didn't see it.

I think there is some misunderstanding we'll need to clarify later on.
If there is some code the community has paid for it would be a good thing for us to have it available.

If the dev was too busy to work on it he'll probably would be available to refund, but as far as I know the community members involved weren't touch with him directly.

It looks like it's working ok.

300 kh/s with Ryzen 3900 Cheesy almost doubled performance of my old Ryzen 1700...

That's great!

I've heard SLM is one of the most profitable coins to mine currently.

By the way, weren't it you who was thinking to set up a pool? Or I've got it wrong?

I was trying to get pool with some guy, but I think he scammed some btc from community unfortunately, and didn't do anything (like it was working for a few days only, and was unstable).
Solo mining should easy enough for now.
There should've been some misunderstanding I hope, barrystyle is a serious dev as I know.

Maybe it may make sense trying to clarify?

Well as I was here from 2017, I know a lot of quirks of SLM from way back.
I will update Slimcoin AIO package for Windows. As I see my old package doesn't work anymore, probably due to new version of client.
Still those synchronization is pain in the ... Ah, if it would really get an update to anything newer than this 0.5 btc codebase, it could at least be somehow functioning without hiccups.

I think you'll need to compile v0.6 if not I should have a compiled version (I can send it to you if you need me to).

An upgrade is indeed needed, that's the key issue we have to solve.

I have 0.6 version from compiled by Graham.
Besides is there still problem with mining on 0.6 version? I had such problems when I tried it 2 years.

I don't really know, since I'm not mining. If you can try it to see whether the mining works or not and report here if there is any issue we can try to find a fix.

We are also actively looking for the solution in order for us to have an upgrade.
