Now you've said it all, I don't like disco tagging Andrea Onana as a bad goalkeeper, he needs good defense and Manchester never had that at the start of this season.

Manchester United and Liverpool tied for the most clean sheets this season, proving that the defence is not as bad as Onana had you assume. Stop looking at analytics and start watching the game. He's not just a poor shot stopper, but he's also prone to errors.
I am actually going with just the opposite. You need good defense to keep clean sheets but bad defense is actually perfect for GK to show his worth. It is much easier to be on goal when opponents are shooting at you every few minutes. Even if you concede few, you still make plenty of good saves and build a name for yourself. There is nothing harder for the goalkeeper than having to have to make one good save after doing nothing for 80 minutes. You screw that one up and there is no chance for redemption and you are never totally in the game.

I wonder what Harry Kane thought after reading this statement of Werner's. Cheesy

Harry Kane must be chuckling somewhere in the pub; Werner either didn't goggle about Tottenham or is indirectly laughing at the fans. Werner came to watch our game at Bridge twice, won the heart of the fans only to pull the strings. Lol

I also agree with the thought that Onana is a good goalkeeper generally. However he made so many big mistakes this season and I think that these weren't related to the defensive players. He caused Manchester United to get eliminated from Europe by causing his team to lose points in both Galatasaray matches in the Champions League.

Tottenham players happier then ever. Maybe even their new acquisition, I will try to miss more chances than Nunez - Werner, will manage to score now. To make it even funnier Werner said he came to Spurs to win trophies  Grin Grin I almost dropped from my chair at work after reading that.

Does he know the club he signed for ? Lol   Grin

What's your definition of a good goal Keeper? A good passer with a dreadlock hairstyle? Onana should be playing as a midfielder and not as goalie. Lol

A keeper who helped keep Ajax defense the best for 3 years running, 33% clean sheets. Then goes to Italy and keeps 50% clean sheets. I only saw him properly vs City in CL final but he was confident with ball to feet, like all modern keepers. United needed to modernize their goalie, but they forgot Onana style needs defense like Ajax or Inter, or City or Liverpool.

Give him Maguire and Dalot and Wan Bissaka who PANIC with ball, then he cannot keep his own composure.

You right tho lol at this time, he is better DM than keeper thanks to United LOL

Honestly, Ajax had some of the finest CB and DM and had over 84% total win, they were by far one of the most complete teams under ETH and any other goalie could have performed as well as Onana did because he didn't face as many shots on goal as he does now.

De Gea competed for the Golden Glove for three consecutive seasons despite having Maguire and Lindelof in front of him without an actual DM. Manchester United's current defence is an upgrade compared to last season.

Goalie job is to keep out what the defenders missed and not to pass the ball around, I'm not in for this modern ball playing goalie nonsense. Bravo started the whole shit and die off after two good season.

BreakingNews: Onana to miss the first game for Cameron to stay at United- ridiculous decision.

Now you've said it all, I don't like disco tagging Andrea Onana as a bad goalkeeper, he needs good defense and Manchester never had that at the start of this season.

Those defending players at Ajax complemented his performance, and same goes with Inter Milan who they all contributed to the Champions League finals.

Last season David De Gea had Lisandro Martinez and Rapheal Varane most them games. They complemented him and he added his individual performance.
Harry Maguire and Lindelof last season played less. Every big side implementing the modern day stuff you call BS ( Bayern Munich been doing that with Neuer all these while ). Infact, both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp has both utilized that to win both the Premier League Competition and the UEFA Champions League. I know him to be stubborn when it gets to his international duties, but his more focused on Manchester United than Cameroon. Bottom line is, without bias, Manchester United has a good goalkeeper. He's just had a wrong start with Manchester United from the Pre-season.

BreakingNews: Onana to miss the first game for Cameron to stay at United- ridiculous decision.
There was talk that he will play both games earlier and then memes started how he is trying to break record for most conceded goals in 48 hours  Grin

Goalkeeper appears to be a major issue for West African teams; we are stuck with Francis Uzoho, by far Africa's worst goalkeeper, and everyone in Nigeria despises him so much and no matter how poorly he performs, he is still chose above everyone. The Cameron team is experiencing the same thing.

I’m not sure that Onana’s problems do not lie in himself - I looked at the clips of goals that he missed throughout the entire last season (and part of this season) and I can say that in 25-30 percent of cases this is definitely his mistake. Moreover, often this is not just a mistake, but a mistake due to the fact that he wants to play beautifully and not reliably. That’s why you can find video clips of him making beautiful saves. But on average, it seems to me that he does not play at the level of top goalkeepers.

100% in CL I saw almost all goals his mistake but that is mentality affected by defense in front of him. The same issue turned de Gea from titan into goblin in goal. You can put Ederson and Alisson in United and they will turn into Onana with United defense. Guaranteed.

Interesting point of view. Looking at how Casemiro in just one season (if you take the number of games) turned from the best midfielder in the world (according to Neymar and here I see no reason not to trust Neymar despite the fact that he is an asshole) into someone who is not suitable for United ( looool) i can believe this 100%. United is a merciless graveyard of talent  Grin

Call me a madman but our team lacks winining mentality, just play and vibes.

Morroco is winning this one.

In AFCON the winning team is exactly mentality and how all players buy in. Morocco, Senegal, Egypt seem the most attuned as a team. Like Japan, Morocco, Argentina in WC.

Morocco is also seen as a pick for SF, hosts should be there as well
but my two picks will reside with Ghana to win as underdog, and South Africa to pass group, also as underdog, for the time being

Hosts always go far true, South Africa, I have no idea. In my mind they should be among the best team (among biggest country). Morocco and Egypt and Nigeria seem to follow this logic (size wise).

Onana is a good keeper, he just didn't have the right guys in front of him at United, plus all of them are totally not fit to ETH strategy. He wants to play like City but his players want to play like Mourinho lol

Same thing in AFC cup, South Korea is talented but they have Klinsmann as coach, I know he's a good guy but he is their biggest weakness. Nigeria will go far in this one, I don't think they win but they are my pick for semifinal.

I've seen enough, if Nigeria manages to qualify from the group stage we won't make it through the quarter finals. This is a team our President just approved $1.3m to support for the tournament.

interesting to me that Ghana is listed @15 for a win, they are not at their best, but full of talent

But I would be rooting for the likes of Nigeria as they seem to have a decent team, would have gone for Cameroon but with Onanan in goal jeez...the thought alone scares me lol.

So if you are so confident, then I would love to see a low ranked Asian team play a low ranked African team. Why are you suddenly talking about South Africa again??

I see you talking smack, and then backing down lol come on man focus

It was Cryptofka who brought the south Africa discussion and I replied to him based on what he said. I'm not backing down I'm open to side bet anytime, any day.

Nigeria lost to Guinea after winning Dubai based club 12-0 in friendly game few days ago. Boniface to miss the AFCON after suffering from injury just 6 days to AFCON, he also missed the U20 AFCON 7 days to the competition in the last edition. My man is cursed.

The Nigeria coach is mid and that's our biggest weakness.

Who's the favorite to win? I assume Morocco?
I like the Ivory Coast team, I feel that Egypt is too dependent on Salah
What you said about Senegal looking good on paper...is the same thing about Morroco and the fact that this competition has a tendency of forcing results of draws... disadvantages these favourites to win the competition as one bad result could mean an early exit.... For this reason I would be looking for teams in mid table to win it...

My money will be on Morocco to get to the final four. This is not just because of their World Cup performance, but their form since the end of the World Cup. They have been very impressive in the World Cup and African Nations Cup qualifiers.
When we get to the last 4 it is anyones game from there. It no longer becomes about having a star studded team or good game management.

...
Egypt, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Nigeria would all have a shout at the trophy too.

Nigeria can be the spark with their forwards. It is a shame Ndidi will not be part of the team. Nicolas Jackson will also want to take some of his goal scoring form to Senegal and push them. We will also find out how fit Pape Sarr would be.

So, anyway deadline is january 12?
Deadline is kick off time of the first AFCON match. I guess that should be January 13 for most if not all time zones.

Ok! Thank God the transaction went through without any problems. Sent a PM  Smiley

Who's the favorite to win? I assume Morocco?
I like the Ivory Coast team, I feel that Egypt is too dependent on Salah.

Senegal looks good on paper again, but something about that team never clicks for me. Algeria? They look kinda boring but tough to beat.

If they had a single decent CB, Nigeria would be my favorite. Their offensive line is really good.

Bookmakers see the teams’ odds as a fairly even distribution:

Morocco        5.88
Senegal        6.86
Algeria          7.84
Ivory Coast   7.84
Egypt           9.80
Cameroon    10.78
Nigeria        10.78
Tunisia        12.74
Ghana         14.70

Morocco is indeed the favorite but actually has 17% for the title.
As I understand it, at the group stage there are no difficult groups and almost everywhere it is clear who will advance to the next round? Maybe only group D looks like a random group.
I hope that in the tournament we will see better performance than in the qualifications for the World Cup.

If it wasn't bloody AFCON, I would have already had them for both to score in all matches. As it is I have no idea what to bet this early on.
