⌃  best of luck, guys!   ha! no hints about your final picks, eh?  Wink   i went with 2-1 Senegal

Final game today, congratulations to all the tournament winners,,, that was such a fun one was it not? Yes most of the games were not exciting but in the end I think there is something special to enjoy about a regional tournament where many players are not known to us, and to see different styles.
group stage was a borefest, half of the Round-of-16 was fine, but after that it's been really entertaining... and we've got one of the "dreams final", Senegal v Egypt, Mane v Salah, arguably the two biggest stars in african football. all in all, 8/10 tournament for me, hope we see an epic final tonight... would not mind if the game goes to the penalty shootout tho, the more dramatic the finale, the better  Grin

Thank you for your good wishes @tomahawk9 and @buwaytress. Even though I wasn't able to collect the amount of points I expected in the Premier League, the AFCON has been really good for me. And I would like to thank @Trofo who has created this pool and our sponsor sportsbet.io also. Tonight, the winner of the pool is going to be determined by the result of the final game. Good luck @Harkorede.

It's been one a hell of a tournament, and you never know what to expect, but It was a real good competition in the pool from start to finish..

Best wishes for the finals too  Wink

Thanks to Trofo and Sportsbet (as always) for coming through on this one yet again Smiley

What a thrilling game!! What a turnaround by Cameroon, who went from 3-0 down to 3-3 in the last 20 minutes to play, with 29-year-old Aboubakar adding a brace to his record of 8 goals, this has to be the tournament's best game. I don't think tomorrow's match between Senegal and Egypt will be particularly intriguing; they are two uninteresting teams..

Burke's Faso 3-5 Cameroon ( Penalty shootout)

Burkina Faso let the game away; how could they let a 3-0 lead slip away in less than 30 minutes in such a crucial match? Nobody deserves it more than Abuobakar to be named the tournament's MVP.

Cameroon players did wonders yesterday by equalize 3:3 and later defeated Burkina Faso  through penalty shoot out. Burkina Faso really played Cameroon in the first half that makes people to concluded that Burkina Faso will defeat Cameroon 3:1 for the favour of Burkina Faso but 20 minutes to the end of the match Abuobakar started downloading goals to become 3:3 before the penalty goes to the favour of Cameroon. Abuobakar will definitely achieve something good from his performance in this tournament because he has the highest goal scores.

Egypt is my choice so I am very happy that the 4th choice country is in the final. Only 2 of them to my knowledge play outside Egypt so that is a bigger achievement even while most of Senegal players play overseas.

Good luck everyone let us enjoy this final game!
today's final will be very interesting because both countries have almost the same strength, this final is ideal in my opinion.
I predict that Senegal will win this championship, where while being the coach of Senegal, Aliou Cisse has made many positive changes. Of course, it cannot be separated from Cisse, who is a legend of the Senegalese national team who must already know the strengths and weaknesses of his team.
Aliou Cisse has given many achievements to the Senegal national team where as a player he managed to bring Senegal into the world cup in 2002 and in 2018 he as a coach also managed to bring Senegal into the world cup, maybe today's final is a very valuable moment for Aliou Cisse to give trophy for his country.
the match will be very fierce tonight, where this is the final match of course it will be very difficult for us to predict it even though everyone has their own champion but anything can still happen, mentality is needed in this party.
bookies open very small under odds, only 1.5 and in my opinion it is very accurate, there is a high probability that there will be no goals in the 90-minute normal time match. maybe tonight's final match will be decided until the penalty shootout.

third place match is always good, since teams are usually playing a bit less tactical
but this one was really great, Cameroon scored three goals in last twenty minutes, and Burkina was down emotionally, but Cameroon could not finish it before penalties as well

congrats on third place, now we have final between Egypt and Senegal
Great game for 3rd place, too bad I stopped watching at 3:0 for Burkina, never thought Cameroon had it in them to turn it around. I expect totally opposite encounter today with much more emphasis put on defense and would not be surprised to see 0:0 game. Maybe we get lucky and there is an early goal and we see another great game but if it stays 0:0 for long it will just get more and more boring.

So only slaman predicted the upset, but it wasn't to be. 3 goals up until 72nd minute from just 2 shots on goal and an Onana own goal... and then Cameroon found their shooting boots. No one predicted the draw huh?

But what a treat the second half turned out to be, just as a 3rd-placing game should be haha. Why couldn't the teams have played like this all tournament long huh? Aboubakar's got to get the Golden Boot, even a Mane 4-goal haul won't be enough.

Listening to penalties now on Clubhouse Radio. 1-1 so far.

And yes, well done to Harko and cls. Well done guys.

So, Cameroon decided to field their weakest team available today (butWhy.gif), they were 3-0, manager realizes he messed up big time and makes three subs and those subs turned things around in just 20 minutes to make it 3-3... wth??  Cheesy  btw, @cls63 and @Harko secured a spot in the top 3 of the leaderboard, that's a free bet and a mistery prize for each! congrats 👍

^ Indeed, it's an outside chance, but you never know, Mane is the PK taker so he can still score a hattrick and tie with Aboubakar -- but then he could also score against Burkina Faso, so I think the Golden Boot is already safe with Cameroon.

Who else had Senegal or Egypt as the outright? I'm perhaps more disappointed than most that they haven't played their brand of football that hooked me since the Japan/SKorea World Cup 2 decades ago, or even the ultra attacking team of 2019, but I guess as I also said before, both Egypt and Senegal are experienced, and Senegal WANTS badly to win their first one, so they probably controlled the games and want to finish high.

Egypt though prove why they're the top holders... it's not my favourite style of football, but their game management is top-tier -- Gabraski for the last 2 games probably wasted 15 whole minutes on his own just being injured haha.

What's sickening for me is 3 bets on Egypt, all above 4/1, and losing all of them despite them progressing every time. What the hell haha.

Still, I'm going to hedge on them in case Senegal are again prevented from lifting the title!

Senegal isn't that big of a surprise, but personally I did not believe Egypt could go far at all. Most of their team is from the egyptian league.
At the very least, Egypt was the only team eager to compete, unlike Senegal players who sits and waits for counter-attacks to win games. Egypt deserved to be in the final.

Therefore, I have to give Senegal the advantage in the final but I hope Salah wins it. It would be huge in his pursuit of the Golden Boot.
What Golden boot? He isn't even Egypt's best player in the competition; Zizou is the team's current top player; the young Egyptian has performed admirably thus far in the competition. With three goals and two assists, Mane has a better chance than Salah to win the MVP award if Senegal wins the trophy.

agree, Salah made enough magic to kick-out Morocco, that was the match when they were closest to go home
they have obviously play defense, and will play on 0:0 in the final as well, actually they would probably play all matches to 0:0 if there wasn't for penalty in early stage against Morocco

Italian catenaccio is offensive football for Egypt play Smiley
I heard they are watching exclusively Greek national team games from that EURO in Portugal. Of course they are adding a bit more to defense since that Greek team was way too loose with their counter attacks. When Egypt counter attacks, only Salah runs while the rest of the team are making sure they are in top defensive shape Smiley

It will be a Mane - Salah final after all. They will even play close to each other on the pitch Grin

As I previously stated, the Egyptians are extremely skilled at penalty shootouts, and if you do not eliminate them at the appropriate moment, you will have a problem. Congratulations to Egypt; it's still amusing that the group's worst team made it to the final.

The Egyptians are strong at penalty kicks, with a goalkeeper capable of making 2-3 saves. I can't say the same about Cameroon's goalkeeper Onana, therefore it'll be up to the Cameroon to end the game on time to avoid a penalty shootout. Cameroon is a good pick at 2.20 odd.

I really don't want to use the word "underserving", because at the end of the day all that matters is who wins or make it to the next stage, but then both finalist really haven't done much so far this tournament. Perhaps, we could argue that they're just been conservative and playing out the tactics that best suits them, because if you look far back to the first 2 games, I wouldn't have nominated either/or both team to make it to the finals, and I don't think a lot of people here would have either.

It's likely going to be another 0 - 0 finals, but the third place match should make up for the entertainment, imo.

I was checking and its still unbelieve that two teams who have thes best players have scored so poor quantity of goals.

Senegal 1 goal in the group stages. I know after they score goals but if you analized all the goals were in the final stages of the game and playing bad.

Egypt 4 goals in 6 matches yes only 4 goals quite embarrasing more considering they play in the group stages versus poor teams.
