It was such a wonderful race! I'm actually sad to see Leclerc missing another opportunity to win a race.  Sad   Everything was going on nicely until Ferrari made a meaningless choice about Leclerc's tyres. They chose hard tyres rather than medium or soft. Red Bull had a really good strategy and Verstappen benefited from this a lot. He didn't have any problem on overtaking Leclerc even two times. Ferrari still had a chance for Leclerc after that. They could have made Leclerc pit once again quickly and changed the tyres to one of the options I mentioned. But they did this too late and the race ended horribly for him.

It is another great week for Mercedes drivers. Good job!

Good job @casperBGD for winning a yellow cap also!

Qualifying session was really surprising in my opinion. I didn't give any chance for a Mercedes driver to win the pole position like many people did as well. I'm still curious about how Russell managed to get past both Ferrari drivers. Verstappen had a really bad day. There wasn't any problem in Q1 and Q2 for him but something started to go wrong in Q3. Because he lost some power and his laps in Q3 were very poor. He is starting from the tenth position in the grid tomorrow. This is like the biggest opportunity for Leclerc to take advantage of.

He was lucky,Russell because Sainz made some errors in the S2 of his fastest lap otherwise he would have been near 1.17.0 and not 1.17.3x which was Russell.Still though I am glad that he managed to get pole,he deserves it after so many good consistent performances,I hope we see a really good race after two hours and the rain would be a nice addition to this race although from seeing the weather forecast it looks like there is only a really slim chance for rain near 17 Pm while the race start at 15 Pm so most likely the race would have ended unless a lot of crashes and Safety car entering the track prolongs the race.

Hahaha no man, i dont put never Mercedes to the pole this season because as we can see they really lack pace at one lap, so no point for me this time.

Maybe maybe from now can put the pole for Mercedes?

What a FP3 with Latifi in P1 and........ What a qualy!!!!!! Russel first ever Pole position!!! and first for Mercedes this year, nobody expect this after the friday.
Amazing lap, and impresive work from Mercedes as always.

Now can i put the Mercedes 1-2? hahahaha , i dont put that sadly.

Lets see tomorrow more surprises?

Lots of surprises for real, well done to Russell for getting pole after Sainz lost it in the second sector of the track,Leclerc in the interview after the race said we have the pace but we did not find the correct setup in order to be faster, for the race we are ready to win he said.I did not expect Verstappen to lose power after he consistently was on top in the first two sessions of the qualifying. It looks like Mercedes is back for real this time, especially in this track where a lot aerodynamic setup is needed, something Ferrari was not able to find.

I thought myself only darxiaomi may have got a point from the pole position today but I see this is not the case.I normally have a lot to change for tomorrow but not changing anything as I don't want to lose the 2 EBP which may be critical toward the ending of the pool.

Don't matter of course, but still something to chew on for those who haven't put picks in.

yeah, my picks do not seem aligned with practice results as well, but I am not changing them

in my experience within these few pool's seasons, whenever I change my initial picks, it does not went good, usually losing points (in football pools it is either not exact score, since I entered goal to winning team, or complete miss), and in F1 I did not revised any pick so far, what initially places is left there to hang

I usually have been 2nd or 3rd in every of the last 7 races but that has been because I have always put as a winner Verstappen and also Perez to be in the top 3.This time though I have completely shift gear by going all in with the Ferraris, this race is make or break for me as if Ferrari wins I would be very happy but if they still have those reliability problems then I think it is bye bye for me to fight for the top 4 positions in the standings.Maybe this is a wrong approach but I am not changing it either.

I regret to say that Sebastian Vettel has announced that he is retiring at the end of this season.  Cry   What a great driver he has been so far! He is going to end his career with four championship which is really amazing for me. Maybe after leaving Red Bull he couldn't find just the thing he wanted but it is still a wonderful career for him. I just wish that he didn't end his career with Aston Martin. Because they can't provide the challenge he wants unfortunately. It would have been really great to watch him racing for a more ambitious team before retiring.
He is 35 years old and with so many years of driving in Formula One he probably decided to take some break and maybe retire soon.
I don't think you should worry about team Aston Martin, with their rich billionaire owner they will find good replacement to join with Lance Stroll.
Outside Formula One Aston Martin makes beautiful cars but they are not ranked so good in F1.

Frankly, I don't worry about Aston Martin at all.  Grin  I'm just sad for Sebastian Vettel to end his career with a problematic team. It would nice for him to be in a more challenging team for the upper positions.

By the way, FP1 and FP2 have ended and Ferrari seemed really impressive again. Norris was the most surprising driver as we saw him at really high positions in these sessions. It might be very difficult for him to be on podium of course but maybe he can finish the race at one of the good positions. He is a really talented driver actually but the team didn't make a good start to the season. Having a positive result in this GP would improve their morale.

Practice 1 and 2 results did not make my early picks look good at all, not a single driver in the right position, probably could see Ferarri getting fastest time in both, but the Brits + McLaren are a surprise package. Mercedes experiments didn't work, Hamilton will be displeased.

Don't matter of course, but still something to chew on for those who haven't put picks in.

It really is saddening, but a man has to do what he has to do. I first watched him when he was still in Red Bull. An extremely gutsy driver back then and I knew that he had so much potential in him. If only the guys at Ferrari knew how to take care of Vettel back in 2019-2020 season, they could have had him until the end. Idk what ended his contract with Ferrari but I knew that the guys in there made Vettel feel like he's not welcome, hence why he still hangs out with his boys back in Red Bull more often when he has the chance to.

I could not comment much about his stints in Aston Martin. He still did well and drove a lot of good races but unfortunately, a lot of things happened. Good luck to him on his next endeavors though, and I am glad that I watched F1 with him included on the drivers that I admire the most.

Yes was a double shot, because all were so happy to see him for first time in social media, but moment after all the happines go to sadness as we can see he announce his retirement.

The last years were not what he deserved, teams that gave him really shitty cars.

Mercedes its having a really good race pace for several weeks ago, the main thing they cant already do its make the W13 be faster at one lap.
With this and a little more improvement in the race pace, Ferrari and Red Bull can be in a trouble. More Ferrari than RedBull because Red Bull have a really good gap in terms of points.
I can see them continuing on this run going into this race weekend.
Had Leclerc but he is frustrated now from what has happened in France. Just his luck to have an equipment problem fall on him twice.
How many races is that he did not finish for the season so far? Three from what I can recall.
I would imagine that Red Bull will have issues in Hungary so I am going for the silver arrows to fly down that track for a victory.

So its time to me to put again a 1-2 for Mercedes? hahahaha.
I really dont know what can pass because of the selftrouble Ferrari, the uprising Mercedes, and the regular RedBull, all can happen.

I think it is more important for Leclerc as he is in much more pressure to win the race compared to Verstappen who can be happy even if he finishes second or third no matter what.I think it will be an interesting race as this is a very short track compared to other circuits of F1 in general so most likely we will see some intense battles here especially between Redbull and Ferrari because those cars are near the same level with the last race showing Ferrari to have the upper hand in having a better car but their team in general so far has behaved like an amateur one and lost so many points because of such management.

It is indeed more important for Leclerc. Because the point gap between him and Verstappen has reached 63 now. It hasn't been much time since we got past the first half of the season of course. There are still many races to go however Leclerc must benefit from his opportunities in the best manner from now on. I remember Hamilton's unbelievable comeback against Verstappen from a big point gap last season. Why wouldn't Leclerc also do the same, right? He needs to be lucky at the same time. Because if Verstappen doesn't make some mistakes it would still be the most difficult job for Leclerc.
