Qualifying was intriguing and nice to watch also. What a great work by Norris!  Smiley  I believed in him on Superbru too and added him for the pole. He didn't make me sad thankfully.

But he got the pole without big issues at the same time. Verstappen looks like he is still not fast enough. This was one-lap time session of course. Maybe we might watch a more different race but let's see...

Ferrari is still a disgrace.  Sad  Sainz saying goodbye in Q2 already and Leclerc getting only 6th place. I don't expect a podium by them. I was surprised with Hamilton the most. How did he finish the session in 12th place? Did he have a problem with the car?  Huh

Weekends were passing by really boring for me when there wasn't F1. During Free Practice 2, Mercedes drivers looked really fast. Therefore I'm a little confused however I'm still thinking about making my choices from McLaren and Red Bull cars for my podium and pole position picks. If Ferrari shows their free practice performance at the weekend too, Hamilton could regret about the Ferrari contract. Tongue

So true! I've waited weekend after weekend for this summer break to end so we can finally watch F1 again.

I'm currently watching F1 qualifiers and once again McLaren is doing an amazing job with Piastri being on 1st place , followed closely by Norris on p2 and on p3 we currently have Leclerc but I have a feeling we might see another podium until Q3 finishes and we also have a very fast Max Verstappen who wants to take pole on home race for sure. For Ferrari ...really hard to say something good about them right ? Maybe this 2nd half of the season will give us a way more reliable Ferrari car who can actually fight for wins and podiums.  Grin

I think Ferrari is far from that as shown today in the qualifying by Sainz who were out of the top 10 and this is certainly not a good sign to be having if you are truly fighting or wanting to fight for the wins.In the pool I had Verstappen,Norris,Piastri,it just happen that Norris showed great skill once again but I am not worried I am starting out with the podium already found and hopefully this trio will end in the top three if we have a normal race during tomorrow. Now we are going to have great actions during weekends,as September is here and we have another 9 races in 3 months, that is what I call a tight schedule.

Seems that Max will get penalty - in the end of practice he was overtaking opponents on pit exit and crossed white line. No idea why he made such desperate move - how making fast lap on wet track full of traffic can be reason for it.
Sargeant had one job - deliver car to qualifying without crashing and he failed. That crash looked so amateur, not like it would be F1 driver. Now Williams lost car from qualifying and will have to spend lot of money for repair.
Thanks to Sargeant we watch people dancing in the stands or someone surfing in the sea instead of watching qualifying.

Team Mercedes was on fire in first two training races, they made important car modifications that made a big difference, but they need to finish qualifications on top.
I saw Verstappen was not happy with car performance and he complained they were too slow but they are not sure why.
Maybe this is strategy of his team so lets wait and see what happens this weekend.
Rain is expected in Zandvoor for Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you for the reminder. I was planning to predict after watching the practice sessions after a long break. But it turns out I needed to do it before the 1st practice session. You can be sure as of now that I'm going to read your topics better and won't miss the contests.

Finally no more boring weekends starting from this one.The race in Zvandoorf is a great one and if I remember it correctly it is the one where Perez was sleeping when the race restarted after the Safety Car a couple of years ago, where Russell also won but I am not sure about it.What is a sure thing is that this race is going to be beautiful and the fact that in the free practice showed that both Norris and the two Mercedes cars were in great performance while Verstappen has to fight hard in here despite being his home race, that is why the odds to be the same between Norris and Verstappen or just a bit of difference between them.

I've read about this asymmetric brake rule change. I wonder what happens now. I would also like to see Ferrari rising in the standings honestly.  Roll Eyes  I've missed those good old days of Ferrari... I want to see Leclerc being competitive but he can't. Not only because of the team but also individual mistakes. He has a good talent but he isn't as effective as Verstappen for example as for showing it. Consistency isn't a thing he is good at.

As for the pool, it feels nice to rise to 4th place. The point gap with the top is 2.5 points and this is motivating me more.  Smiley

F1 is back finally. I've been missing it, but wouldn't say that these 4 weeks were that empty for me. There was Olympics, football also started.
Looking at Dutch GP odds it seems that Verstappen and Norris chances to win is rated almost equally. But I would give little advantage to Verstappen just because it's his home track.

Finally we are back on F1 weekends.

anyways this last week of waiting for return was not so hard to live because we already have the start of main football leagues.

Is gonna be interesting to see which team brings a good amount of upgrades after this rest. Is gonna RB take the lead again?

Finally race week is back in Formula 1!
Verstappen is big favorite this time at home country but he could be under pressure during qualification rounds.
He knows this track really well but he needs to be concentrated and win pole position.
I looked at weather prediction for Zandvoort and rain is expected for this weekend, this could make things more interesting.

It seems like you're asking a rhetorical question...   Wink

I think that now everything depends more than ever on practice...#3, decision making is there... and before it meant securing a few points, now it only means that the pool is more alive than ever, I think that today winning for Max is perhaps the least of his problems, it's how to make the most of the points he's already won...

Asymmetric brakes are prohibited!

I think it's the most of his problems today, he is at home, Holland is expecting and he has the character that would feel so bad if he didn't. But you're right of course thinking like a team manager, RB's constructor should be safe, but a few more races without wins and it will be dangerroad for them.

Pressure time for Maxie, but I'm rooting for a huge upset by the time season ends Smiley

It is difficult to know if Ferrari will be the biggest beneficiaries, but we can guess who will be the most disadvantaged, as you rightly mention.

The truth is that the protagonist of this weekend, for many, and although he will have his influence, let us not forget that Max is still haunted by luck, since it is a rule that appears in a prize in which he is a clear favourite.

Asymmetric brakes are prohibited!

I was just going to talk about this. First of all, thanks for the information.  Smiley  Yes, this is an important change in regulations. Because this was helping the teams using the technology at slow corners very much. Because these brakes are preventing an understeer at these corners for more grip. Red Bull, McLaren and Mercedes are expected to be affected negatively after this change. Do you expect Ferrari to step forward after this?

If Ferrari has made some progress in the summer break then I think maybe they could be more competitive against those teams from now on.

Thank you!

The first race after the summer break is definitely difficult to predict, and you've also come up with some good and tricky questions.

But I assume that Verstappen is the favourite this weekend on his home track, and unless the other teams have made considerable progress compared to RedBull, Verstappen has a real chance of winning.

 Cool

So RB is down and no longer the favorites really?...//

...// is this assumption totally wrong? Smiley

So RB is down and no longer the favorites really?

I have the biggest question for yall, before I put in my picks.

Max Verstappen has to win at his Holland home crowd right? I mean, he seems to be getting pressured badly but all racers are the most familiar with their own home track, I guess because they practice the most there. Or is this assumption totally wrong? Smiley
