We are 2 hours away from qualifiers and to be honest I found it very hard to actually pick a winner and I think we are up to another surprise this weekend with another winner. Max and RedBull are falling even further beyond and if Perez won't actually score important points from now on , they will not win constructor championship because Max cannot fight alone.
I still went with boring prediction and picked Verstappen pole and race win. Unfortunately, again missed Sportsbet prediction contest by waiting until last minutes to make predictions.
Seems that we will have dry qualifying session. There is some clouds around the track, but it doesn't looks very dark.

I don't know but I have gone for a Verstappen pole and a Norris with Piastri tailing him in the race,I will watch the qualifiers and change accordingly,I don't care anymore losing 2 points of the Early Brew Points if I don't get the pole position right and in this track I am sure we will see a lot of changing positions during the race, this track surely permit it and no one can predict accurately before the qualifying the complete 10 places line up in the points.

Of course problems have arisen for Max and the whole team with so many people leaving the team, that is why I don't believe that much that Max is going to have an easy win tomorrow, the Mercedes powered cars should be somewhat in advantage because it is a super fast track,of course Honda has great top speed too so it should be very interesting.

Hammie doing quite well in final practice. Anyone tempted to change up anything based on the Ps? I know I'm not. Enough of fooling around now and sticking to the odds, yessir. That means Perez not higher than 7th.

They already have Formula E where there are fully electric cars. Can't we just leave these cars be in Formula 1?

F1's been full of changes, it's expected, we get it, but for safety, for watchability, yes and yes. The electric thing doesn't jive with F1. It's a race...

Kimi Antonelli looks like a talented driver. But Mercedes is taking a quite big risk if they are really bringing him next season. They might need to be quite patient for him to become a consistent driver. He is a 17-year old rookie for now. If he makes an impact at least as big as Piastri then it would be a plus for Mercedes of course.

However if I were Mercedes I would prioritize a more experienced driver. Sainz is going to be available, why don't they try to sign him? He is a really ambitious driver and he can make a big contribution.

Why a big risk ? Verstappen had 17 years old as well when he was placed in an F1 car so I think Antonelli has the necessary talent to actually perform so in my opinion , Mercedes will do a great move by signing him next year. Who can replace Hamilton ? With Max refusing Mercedes , Sainz signing for Audi , there are no other drivers right now with necessary skills for Mercedes so it's better to take a young driver and develop his skills for future plans of Mercedes.

I am also pro the move to get a talented driver even at such young age.Of course he may not be the best in the race category where it races but you have to include also the team there, the aerodynamics if they all use the same engine,if not then engine difference is another plus.I think that a big team like Mercedes if they give him a great car like Ferrari did with Bearman this year then I am pretty sure that he will be doing just fine.So another plus is that the big team can make you to give out the best version of you and become an even better driver.

As for the race of this weekend,Aston Martin is some years in consecutive that do well in the fast laps of the qualifyings in this specific track.Let's see the qualifying of today, whatever happens this track is a great one when cars can follow each other even better and the DRS after 1 lap is a big plus to this race.

But from 2026, if the driver behind is within a certain distance of another drive, the driver behind will be given the option to use a battery boost from the following lap.
I dont like it and I think that many drivers dont like this changes, that is why everyone is asking for contracts until 2026.
I cant even think what could go wrong and what could happen with this batteries if they start catching fire and exploding.
This doesnt feel safe to me and I know Formula 1 is a dangerous sport but I dont like turning it into electric car race direction.

news for 2026 that I absolutely don't like.

They intend to remove the mechanical DRS to give a boost to the electric battery.
The DRS will disappear, there will no longer be the rear wing that opens mechanically if the following pilot is below 1 second.

But from 2026, if the driver behind is within a certain distance of another drive, the driver behind will be given the option to use a battery boost from the following lap.

I hate this thing and hope it never gets confirmed

What? Why would they do that?  Sad  I agree with buwaytress. They already have Formula E where there are fully electric cars. Can't we just leave these cars be in Formula 1?

I also don't want to see DRS being removed. What's the point then? DRS is making things more fun visually during a race. After seeing them making DRS start opening as of the 2nd lap I thought they were going to give a bigger importance to this system. But instead they are killing it... We already have ERS together with DRS. I hope they realize this is a really bad idea and stop before it is too late.

Perez has been confirmed as a driver for next year too, Max's comfort zone dictates the law, Max doesn't want any competitive driver in the team, it's been known for years, he wants to be the center of everything.

Booo, boring. Didn't realise Max was like that, the best usually prefer to have competition, but I think it says a lot more about Perez, if you're not performing and are seen as second string, I wouldn't be comfortable racing unless I were headed towards retirement. Not that I'm anywhere near the top of my own game/career, but just couldn't stick around with everyone knowingly, including myself, seeing me as just the pad to the knee.

And about the battery thing, why? Don't they already have Formula e?

I have started seeing speculations like Sainz has signed for Williams already behind the scenes. But it is just a speculation. I hope it turns out to be a lie. Because a very capable driver like Sainz shouldn't torture himself at Williams. Smiley I think the same about Albon also actually. He is really pushing the limits with a Williams car. I think he deserves to drive for a better team.

When it comes to the Canadian Grand Prix, McLaren - Ferrari duo are expected to step forward. If Red Bull doesn't make progress with porpoising issue on Verstappen's car he might have more difficulties in winning on this track.

It is now confirmed that Perez signed two year deal with team Red Bull Racing and he will be driving for them until 2026.
I dont know if this was the right move from Red Bull, Perez is getting older and his performance is not great this season.
He is on fifth position with only 105 points, above him are Verstappen, Leclerc, Norris, Sainz and Ferrari is very close in team rankings.
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/breaking-sergio-perez-red-bull-racing-contract-driver-market.6Vmvwy3TCI1JNFsXbnecih

For me keeping in the team the most mediocre driver of the whole grid is not the best option, yes even that guy Sargeant can do better with a car like Redbull than Perez is doing lately.I don't know if he has family issues, personal issues or other problems which can impact his driving as Hamilton was badly impacted when he broke up with that singer of the Pussy Cat Dolls group and that was reflected also in his driving, for Perez though we don't know anything of yet for such problems although there were some voices 1 year ago when he won the Monaco race, voices that were turned down by him.

If there are no problems that can impact your driving then how can you drive so bad with one of the fastest cars of the grid if not the fastest of all for the moment, that is out of my understanding,in normal conditions a driver with loads of experience like Perez is should drive much better than this.

Well, that's just how it is. It might be because he is the perfect teammate for Max and they don't want any problems with other drivers being better than Max or something. Imagine someone else on the seat and maybe there would be more collisions again with teammates or something.
I dont think there are better drivers than Verstappen now in F1, but they would be much better with younger perspective driver that can work with him.

About Antonelli yeah, as I said he is the next big thing coming in F1 in the following years.

Not a Red Bull fan here. However I would still like to see a more deserving driver instead of Perez. He is damaging the team in every way. Not only by struggling to keep up with Verstappen but also with high costs of accidents etc.. I don't blame the accident in Monaco GP on him of course but still you know.  Smiley

Red Bull would already bring a better driver though. But as you said, it is all about what Verstappen wants.  Tongue  But if only we were able to see a driver like Ricciardo's Red Bull career times. The in-team rivalry was at top level then.
