Have to admit am a bit confused here, we had a Friday pole decider last race, but today it's back to normal Saturday right? Ferrari seems a bit happy even if Leclerc ended FP2 early, as the car appears to be all right. He's not even on my podium though, suspect he ends the race with incident.

Russell will be upset he didn't retain his FP1 performance but I guess I should be happy I stuck with Verstappen in pole... and guess who but Tsunoda back in my finishing at #10. Will need Ocon or someone else to crash out though heh.

Qualifying session is organized on Friday on the weeks that there are sprint races. There is a calendar like this I have found for that after checking it. Maybe it would be better if cls63 adds this calendar into the first post.

Russell has started to fall behind Hamilton in the recent weeks. I didn't like his performance in the practice sessions very much.

I think you are right but this is normal. When you have not a winning car the motivation keeps falling and you think about the race "oh it is just another race weekend" and that is why Russell is starting to fall behind. In the latest Practice 3 that finished 19 PM in European time the Mercedes screwed up really big but I believe in the official qualifying starting just one hour from now I am confident that they will be in the top ten.

The race I am sure will be much more interesting than Baku was last week, the track is more technical and shorter which will hopefully make some fights between different manufacturers during the race and I am hopeful for an eventful race tomorrow.

With the morale of Perez's winning the latest race I think he can win the pole position as well. However I'm also aware that this is a very far possibility.  Smiley

Thank you for the calendar @Spack17. I will update the first post as soon as possible.

Well done ILuckyGuyI, you made a big jump of seven places in leaderboard after last Grand Prix race!

I am not sure what to think about next Miami GrandPrix but I think Ferrari is going to have one more good result.
Last year Charles Leclerc won the pole position, he finished race as second, and Carlos Sainz was third place so they are familiar with this track.
It is going to be big battle between Red Bull and Ferrari but Aston Martin and Mercedes wont just give up that easy.
What do you guys use to follow news about Formula 1 except official website?

Thanks, notblox1.  Smiley

Yeah the latest race here was in favour of Ferrari drivers indeed. But now there is a big question mark about them because they couldn't make a good start unlike last season. But I would like to see my favourite driver Leclerc to climb some places in driver standings. He has been able to collect only 28 points so far which is horrible.   Sad   He is behind Sainz also there.

When it comes to the website I use for following F1 news, it is motorsport.com: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/

tough choice for third podium spot, first two spots are already secured, maybe ain't gonna happen on the race, but most will probably go with Red Bull team for top2
since the race will be late in the night in my area, there are chances that I will actually watch it, and hope that it will be interesting, hoping to see better results from Mercedes, but it does not look good at the moment, maybe last practice will show more of an improvement

Mercedes seemed solid in FP1 but things changed a lot in FP2. Ferrari drivers did a good work by taking the 2nd and 3rd places. The gap between them was 0.083 sec. Verstappen came out on top in this session and I expect the same effort from him in the final free practice session also.

Alonso could have overtaken Leclerc in the latest race in fact but Leclerc didn't let this happen this time.

I doubt the second place for Redbull as the first one I also agree Verstappen driving skills in a car like Redbull will most likely win him this race.Ferrari made some good upgrades but for me momentarily they are only for the single lap more than for the complete race, who knows though a good strategy can secure them 2nd spot.I know that if Ferrari keeps improving little by little every single race and if they bring those massive upgrades promised maybe we will have a chance to see them fight for winning races as they did last year.

On a side note to everyone, you have time to put your predictions to get the EBP until 22 PM European time which is when official qualifying starts.

Hello guys, I placed my predictions yesterday. It will be exciting to watch this race, especially since the race start time is convenient for me to follow the events. I don't know if Alonso is capable of winning this race. I received the beautiful kit thanks to the official sponsor sportsbet. Once again, I thank Steve.

I have checked the results of the previous season in Miami GP and seen that Ferrari drivers weren't that bad back then. Leclerc finished only 3.786 seconds behind Verstappen and Sainz was following him from a few seconds behind also. But now I also have big doubts about these drivers. Because Ferrari's car seems worse than the previous season thinking of the current condition of their rivals.

Even Aston Martin has made a huge improvement as you know. I also think that the track conditions depending on the weather can make extra difficulties for Ferrari drivers. Leclerc can have big issues with finishing the race on podium under normal conditions. For this race, I'm thinking of picking Alonso for podium for now but I need to see Free Practice results first.

Ferrari are having so much difficulty in tyre management. With the affect of its being hot in Miami tyre wear can give Ferrari a headache. Mercedes were quite disappointing to me in the last race. Hamilton's saying at the end of the race that Sainz was faster than him on straights even when DRS was active is summarizing the situation. We will all see if we will watch a Perez-Verstappen rivalry or Horner will protect Verstappen.

I don't think Horner is going to protect anyone in this season,he will leave the battle going otherwise the F1 season of 2023 will be closed in early stages as no other team no matter how hard they try won't be able to surpass Redbull seeing what they have brought to the table so far.Hamilton is a great driver but even the best driver at the wrong car or not the best one does not win Championships, well except Senna maybe who even won races with Lotus which was one of the weakest cars if I remember correctly and even if he did not win,I am sure that was a Monaco race that they called void because of the rain where Senna was second and was near passing the top guy, should have been 1984 or 1985.

We would all love a competition going on,even if it is between a team as long as they are left to race but even if Horner allows it I have a lot of reserves for Perez, his inconsistency is what I believe will not let him win any title.

Despite predicting Perez to win in Baku it cost me a lot to pick Hamilton over Leclerc for the 3rd place. I'm very happy that I will have a chance to win this cool-looking hoodie+hat combo again this week. I'm very curious about especially if Leclerc will be able to win the pole position again this week.  Smiley

In Miami I doubt he can win again the pole position but he is a very good driver in single lap attack so he may as well win it.I am sure though the motivation of Verstappen now that he was beaten by his team mate will be much higher and he won't take things easily anymore,he knows that these upcoming races can be decisive for the title fight and most likely he will go all in.

It is exactly in this race last year that things start to get right for Redbull and they started the dominance exactly after this track. For the hoodie it is nice to have chances to win it both on the Premier League pool and this one also.

one more chance to win this one, and that is up to Ferrari or Mercedes, who will have better session in Miami, will have to decide on that, and make prediction

not sure if cars will be driven from Baku to Miami, seems as long road for a week, or there will be another set, for usage in States
how far they can travel in a week?

Leclerc got passed in the third lap by Verstappen. You can see it after every turn the Red Bull was much faster than the Ferrari no matter who was at the wheel. Of course DRS was also a determining factor for the advancement at the straight away.

I don't think DRS did impact much, the second time Leclerc was passed early on by Verstappen and the difference in speed was scary without DRS at all,it was about 10 km/h faster the Redbull in the straights and in every turn their aerodynamics were perfect, this car is brilliant and based on what I see and I assume every one else is of the same opinion,it can't be beaten during this season,so most likely we have to wait another season to see a competitive one in F1.

It will continue to be a boring season dominated by Redbull and even Aston Martin had lost in pace while the other teams only showed minor improvements toward Redbull closing the gap.

Thank you all guys.  Smiley  I decided to make my predictions depending on the results of FP1. If I don't remember wrong they were the same as FP1 results and it was a risk to take maybe. But thankfully things went well.

I couldn't enjoy the most of the race despite watching all of it. It wasn't as exciting as the previous one indeed. But it was quite nice to see a different winner than Verstappen despite picking him for the win in the pool. Otherwise the season would get quite boring as he would pull away earlier. Perez seems like the most competitive driver for a title challenge with Verstappen for now. Let's see whether Alonso can also keep up right behind as Aston Martin have made an impressive start.  Smiley

Well done rdbase for being the only guy to have faith in Leclerc, too bad he didn't go all the way Sad

About the race, i have to say, for me it ended be a really boring race, another procession, yes we have always that expectation of "anything can happen" or "look now Hamilton its on Sainz DRS zone" "now Alonso its more close to LEclrec", "Verstappen its gonna push in the final", but in the end were all a big WHAT IF?, WHAT IF a SF its deployed?, What if etc...

But no one happen and a boring race with ton of expectation.

I didn't watch it but I definitely agree there was too much hype for this. Supposedly street racing means all kinds of risk taking and speedy behavior but in the end more or less we see Ferrari disappointing and Red Bull conquering, the placement didn't really matter so much.

It could be unpopular to say but hard not to see Smiley

@darxiaomi
Not all of it was so boring at the end. Do you recall what happened to Esteban Ocon while he was pitting on the final lap?
