When is the deadline for joining the pool?

Sorry, I was off for some days and didn't realize who close the new season was (Thanks for the reminder @Trofo). I could try to process a payment later today (13th Aug) if I am not late.

You can join anytime plenty of time left as Trofo sad the deadline is going to be the first of October.
Just make sure you make a Superbru account and make some predictions sp you don't lose on some potential points as tomorrow there will be a match Valencia vs Getafe.

Hey guys I just realized that La Liga starts in 3 days. Has that been changed? I am sure it was supposed to start on the same day as Serie A, whole week later. If you plan to join, hurry up. If you are undecided or collecting money put your results in Superbru and you can join latter on. You will have all the points you earned. I'll allow late registrations up to 01.10.2021.

Just created the pool, sending PM's with details in few minutes.

Also make sure to check the mini-competition that Trofo got for us from the pool sponsor Sportsbet.io. the winner of the round in the mini-competetions wins a free-bet on Sportsbet.io.

First weekly challenge is up, go check it out and post your predictions:

maybe you have right, but Messi is actually partially paid in $PSG tokens, according to Reuters
This is all well and good, but don't you think this is a conflict of interest? Even if everything is as you say, PSG token should serve a completely different purpose ... this token should theoretically be available only to football fans, since by possessing it, users get the right to vote, thereby influencing the decisions of the club leadership.

Now let's see how it looks from the outside ... the total possible emission is 20,000,000 coins, while the circulating supply is only 3,000,000 coins. I am sure that he will receive at least a million coins, which is approximately equivalent to the declared bonuses, and even if this bonus is unlocked after the expiration of the contract, it will turn out so that one of the players in the future will be able to veto any decision of the club.

I still find it strange there is so little interest in a league that used to have the two GOATs of football.
it's always been like this in this board, with or without messi/cr7  Sad

Come to think of it yeah, I don't really know anyone in this forum from Spain or Spanish speaking countries, just mainly other West Europeans and Asians who can speak English. Maybe it's just a language thing? Huge La Liga following in Asia, of course, nothing like EPL but it was mainly Barca and Real responsible for that here.

To be honest, I would not equate the financial situation of Barca with the BAR token ... this also applies to the PSG token. All these are speculative coins which, it seems to me, have nothing to do with the budget and profits of these clubs. As for the financial fair play of La Liga, it seems to me that the complaints of Barcelona will not lead to anything, since they should first of all equalize with the clubs from their home league, and not with the French or English fair play.

https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/psg-confirms-messis-wage-package-will-include-psg-fan-tokens-2021-08-12/

world is changing, and it becomes normal to have FAN tokens to empower your club, who knows in ten years that could be a decision process (isn't it now as well, with stakeholders within clubs?)
Messi will actually make Barca leaving NFT, and PSG arrival NFT, since both clubs are on Socios platform, maybe that would be a new normal in ten years?

Trofo, By the way, have you already decided on the type of additional bonus events for Serie A and La Liga?
No need to quote me if you write my name in the post. I am using notification bot and both will result with notification  Wink

I am leaning to following:
- 2 games each week, biggest game that week, usually one from La Liga and one from Serie A unless there is 2 big derby games in one of them and other has boring matches
- Only main markets, 3 per each game, ML, BTS or GOALS and BOOKING POINTS or YELLOW CARDS, does not matter if it reveals our picks since there will be 20 games each week, or 10 per pool
- Every correct choice one point (6 max)
- Tie breaker: time of first goal in last game played
- only for members of the pools, it is enough if somebody plays in one of them
Will probably start it tomorrow, still working out some details with sponsor

You guys can holler if you prefer BTS or GOALS, BOOKING POINTS or YELLOW CARDS, especially if you can add a good reason for your choice.

I will keep the competition same trough whole season or maybe tweak it in few months if it gets boring.

I am actually thinking Barca will be very good this season. They have enough quality for several players to take over Messi responsibility among them. They will also be a bit of unknown, everybody was basing their tactics against Barca on containing Messi, what will they do now nobody knows.

That financial fair play is a joke. Barca doesn't have enough for players wages and PSG does with all those star players in their team? I am sure Neymar, Mbappe, Ramos, Donnaruma, Di Maria, Icardi and Verati are basically playing for free, right? UEFA should either stop pretending that they care about Financial Fair play or start enforcing it on all clubs. Maybe implement salary cap like in NBA for all members of UEFA.
Actually, Barca still can't officially sign newcomers because of same La Liga FFP rules - they still can't play in official games and I have no idea how Barca are going to solve this problem. They need that current players would agree to cut wagessignificantly or sellsomeone
About PSG and FFP, these rules were relaxed because of pandemic:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9876003/Q-Just-PSG-sign-Lionel-Messi-comply-FFP.html
I'm not so optimistic that Bara will do well ucoming season. Often Messi carried on whole team even when they played so shitty - I lost count how many times he saved our asses. Now we don't have this factor and team will have to learn to play without him.
From positive perspective, I hope that Griezmann will take leader role, Ansu Fati returns after injury, we have Depay in his prime, De Jong.I don't have big expectations for upcoming season, but things aren't so dark as some people think - Barca isn't going to turn into middle table team.

not sure, but this is La Liga fair play, not UEFA fair play, if I understood well
nevertheless, yeah, I feel that PSG pays several times higher wages than other European clubs, and it does not matter

on the other hand, I have read that Barca has surplus this season, and $800M yearly turnover (have read about it due to Barca fan token (on Socios platform), that has FDMC $800M, in range with clubs yearly turnover - not connected in any way, but good benchmark)

one good thing for transfer is that Messi card will be there on Sorare, to compare in value with Ronaldo, I think that Messi card in PSG will not go in value above Mbappe?

idk man, team looked awful last season and yet messi still found a way to carry them to 3rd place (just barely).

Defence is the same (Eric garia and Emerson are not an improvement over the current defenders), midfield is the same, attack is worse (they just let go of 30 goals+15 assists per season, grandpa aguero already injured, depay will need time to adapt), squad and manager will be under tremendous pressure cuz the fans are fuming...It's rough.

Debut this weekend against Sociedad. I remember their last meeting at the camp nou, it was a really close game, 2-1 win for barca

regarding Messi, leaving Barca was inevitable in the end, according to La liga fair play (did not know that this exist as well), but expected Messi to join some other picks, not PSG
nevertheless, it is all about money for him in the end (not judging)

Barca is a question this season, but things will be clear after few rounds, even first match with Sociedad at home will get us some insight what we can expect from them this season, without Messi

Allowing people to join until end of September is a good idea, but I still find it strange there is so little interest in a league that used to have the two GOATs of football.

Oh and yes I woke up to Messi PSG news finally. The nightmare has truly entered for Barca. Tough time to be a fan now but I wish Messi the best (I still wish he joined a better league).

I also thought that Serie A would start at the same time as other leagues, although perhaps you and I just subconsciously looked at the day of the week and not at the date. What I mean is that there is no mention of the postponement of the date in the news feed. The good news is that the delayed start will give time to join the pool for those who have not seen notifications in this or last week, (I think it is worth changing the name of the thread, adding the final date of joining).
Yo did not get me properly or I was not clear enough Smiley But good think that this misunderstanding happened since you are actually right. I thought La Liga has been decided to start earlier while the truth is Serie A has been pushed to start one week later.

There is 9 of us currently in the pool. Still expect 3 people to join and hope for one or two surprise participants.

And a surprise participant have come I will be joining this pool.
Not sure about joining SerieA pool it will be time consuming doing this one alongside EPL pool.
I will think about it still got bit more time since it’s still have 10 days for it.

Ok I have made my payments now for this pool. I did very badly last season and the worse is I was doing quite well initially until made a few bad calls.

Did I mention I finished in top 10% of Barcelona pool and a separate pool but very low in bitcointalk pool? So you guys are really, really good:)

This is going to be a strange season for me without Messi. I still can't believe it.

I am thinking only PSG and City are realistic options and if I were Messi I would choose City for sure. He believes he is best in the world then go in the best league and prove it. City already had a very good 5 year contract for him if I remember correctly. First 2 years would be in PL and then he would play for their sister club in MLS after he gets older. Same money for whole 5 years, it doesen't get better than that from money and sportsmanship perspective. And he is reunited with Guardiola as a bonus.
