^^I definitely don't see a problem of paying bonuses, but this should be in a player's contract, and it motivates them to perform better (performance bonus I see it).

But to suddenly announce additional incentives for playing on one game, imagine the possibility? Like what if, you got everyone on the team to contribute 10% of it to bribe one official or a linesman or someone to run on the field to disrupt a goal? Who can say easily no to 165k?

Crazy scenario and unlikely but when you put money in like this, it opens all kinds of doors.

just submitted my picks for the last matchweek of the season. Gonna be a tense 2 hours with all the matches at the same time and refreshing the superbru site every minute  Cheesy

I don't really see a problem if owner will give his players bonus for playing well, it is not like he is paying them to lose which would of course be not just unethical but also criminal.
thing is that the fans are extremely pissed off at Ronaldo right now, they're saying he's the main responsible for the team's horrendous season, so some think that giving them a bonus now when Ronaldo, the manager and board of directors should've started fixing this situation months ago does look a bit unprofessional...About the criminal part, yeah, in Spain it can be considered a felony (corruption), i remember reading something about it a long time ago

honestly, if they beat Atletico today, Florentino Perez should give every one of them a big bonus, probably an Audi to each player and coaching staff 'cause RM doesn't have that much money to give away rn :-P

So, today is the day! Atletico will play against Valladolid away, while Real will face Villarreal at home. On paper, things looks easy for Atletico. They need win and their opponent is really weak. But it's do or die game for Valladolid if they want to stay in La Liga. So, it won't be easy.
Did you guys read a story where Ronaldo (Brazilian one) as the owner of Valladolid will give every player 150K if they win against Atletico? Not confirmed, but media immediately latched onto it like it is unethical. I don't really see a problem if owner will give his players bonus for playing well, it is not like he is paying them to lose which would of course be not just unethical but also criminal.

They also spun the story like he is doing it to help Real and not to keep his club in Primera. I believe it is a little bit of both since he would prefer Real to win the trophy for sure.

Real play against Villarreal and they need to win and wait for Atletico dropping points. Villareal is strong team, but I think it's likely that they will rest some players before upcoming Europa League final. So, it can make Real task easier.
Barca will play against already relegated Eibar in meaningless game for both teams. I don't know why, but I wouldn't put money on Barca today.

Damn, I have run out of game weeks to place in the money. So close and yet so far away. I think I will go with some crazy results this week as final day hail mary move. Who knows maybe it will pay off.

Got my Superbru reminder yesterday so don't forget to make your last picks everyone. Only 2 games will matter in this final matchday of course and two teams from the city of Madrid will have every eyes on them.

I guess we can congratulate the pool winners for sure, but for now, good luck to everyone and don't look down on my performance too much;)

edit: did not checked, but as I follow, first round without draw in the season

Did not check also but I think there was already a round without a draw before, I think every league had it quite early when everyone seemed to be scoring madly even in the Italian leagues:)

And congrats to the top 3 I guess also it will not change much for the final game, just the winners taking back money and us losers kissing goodbye to our money;)

Quite crazy round - such things happens when you have all 10 games on the same time.
Difficult to say something about Barca game - pretty much same thing happened today as against Granada or Levante. I just hope it was last match for Lenglet in Barcelona - I can't stand him.
Atletico made great comeback against Osasuna and now they have everything in their hands to take title. But respect to Osasuna - they fight for nothing, but gave good fight today.
Villarreal surprisingly simply trashed Sevilla in nice way. I'll just remind that in last round Villarreal will face Real - not an easy task for Madrid.
While Atletico will play against Valladolid. They are still fighting for spot in league next season, but today against Real Sociedad they looked pathetic. But as I understand, Atletico must win, draw isn't enough for them if they will collect same number of points with Real.
Things at the bottom of table is also interesting.

Back to our pool, I think we already know TOP 3. I did so bad this round and I don't have much chances to reach @tomahawk9. While @casperBGD maintain solid lead and I don't know what should happen for him to bottle.

it was a tough round, expected Real to win, Atletico saved their honor in last minutes, after falling behind, but they deserved it, as you said

Villareal caught me off-guard, expected them not that motivated and Sevilla to fight to be third in the end, but 4:0 was as far from expected as one match can be

and it was another "Granada" in Barcelona, but this time is was not important, they have to come up with something new for the next season

edit: did not checked, but as I follow, first round without draw in the season

Well, as we expected, it will be a last day decision but man, after talking trash about Atletico, they've been playing super the last two games. Today, they went behind simply because they were on the front foot the majority of the game... 8 shots on goal and EIGHTEEN other shots off target.

Don't say they're not hungry as the finish line approaches... but credit to Real for keeping it tight.

Congrats casper, toma, logfiles for this round;)

decisive day is here. Not only a big day in La Liga but also in our pool: will there be any big changes in the leaderboard? can @Trofo make it into the top 3? will @tokeweed finally come back and submit a score prediction again?  Shocked

and in La Liga, can Madrid win at San Mamés? or will they drop points there? if it's the latter and Atletico wins their game vs. Osasuna, Atletico wins the league title

i'm ready!

I'll think about joining Copa for sure, depending a bit on the entry price, and depending a lot on whether or not I see familiar faces, don't get me wrong I joined two other competitions quite recently and it wasn't as fun at all because the people didn't like to talk or discuss maybe a language thing (not on this forum). A lot of familiar faces from La Liga though:)

How come we are talking about Modric speed anyway? He is not slow but he is not fast for sure, he is simply a player that makes all other players in the team better.

I called him "important for real tempo". Meaning he is setting the tempo of the attacks for the whole squad. Ball is always quicker then the player and he and Kroos have mastered that part perfectly with quick distributions to team mates.

Only because of his age now and how he might get too slow. He was never fast we all agree. But with age you lose even more speed (not on running but on reaction) and if the body cannot react as fast as his mind it will begin to show a lot for midfield creatives like him.

Agree about tempo. He is for me the Alonso replacement in Real, setting the tempo not just for his team but for the other team.

I always point to the Giggs and the Inzaghis here, never making speed part of their game, always honing their minds and tactics and overall physicality/agility rather than speed. Can easily see Modric put in 3/4 more years at current rate if he (and I'm sure he does) takes care of his body. I actually can't really tell the difference watching him now and with Spurs 10 years ago:) Looks at a glance lightweight, but his agility's pretty solid.

Granada's only 8/1 tonight, but I'll probably still take them for fun:)

Modric always seemed slow to me, even when he was playing at the last Euro and World Cup, and even when he was in England he never struck me as a fast player, but you definitely see he is slower even on his turns now.

~snip

agree, at Balkans that is called "igra na mozak", it is a bit hard to translate, but could say "he is playing smart, not fast", and that probably keeps him into play till 40, because does not require full physical preparedness

regard the trophy race, Barca seems to be out with Atletico win last night, and Real is still in, it would not be that surprising for Atletico to lose points in last two rounds
even last night, Sociedad could get a point in the end

Real is playing tonight in Granada, maybe Granada can pull something similar to surprising Barca two weeks ago and resolve the championship

But back to parity. Atletico are 2 games away and 2 wins away. They will pray both Real and Barca slip up to give them more breathing space so this has now become a game of "who slips first/last".

I'll be really surprised if Madrid clubs give them another opportunity to catch up.
"it isn't over until the fat lady sings"
Real Sociedad are awful in away games against the big teams this season, but this current Atletico is unpredictable so, keep an eye on the game tonight
I am counting on it Smiley I have 1:1 in the pool and I sort of expect more opportunities for Barca. Atletico lost their edge towards the end of the season and I keep expecting Real to fall flat with the number of minutes Modric, Casemiro and Kroos played this season but only Chelsea had the power in the midfield (thanks to Kante) to actually win that midfield battle. That goes double for Modric who is their main tempo player with 35 years on his back, I just hope he will have some juice left for EURO.

Koeman man, he must be getting nightmares.
i'd be having nightmares too if i knew i'm about to get kicked out of my dream job  Grin imo, Barca is too big a club for him. Improvisation in tactics and gameplan, clueless when things go south, lack of leadership, he simply needs to go
