decisive day is here. Not only a big day in La Liga but also in our pool: will there be any big changes in the leaderboard? can @Trofo make it into the top 3? will @tokeweed finally come back and submit a score prediction again?  Shocked

and in La Liga, can Madrid win at San Mamés? or will they drop points there? if it's the latter and Atletico wins their game vs. Osasuna, Atletico wins the league title

i'm ready!

I'll think about joining Copa for sure, depending a bit on the entry price, and depending a lot on whether or not I see familiar faces, don't get me wrong I joined two other competitions quite recently and it wasn't as fun at all because the people didn't like to talk or discuss maybe a language thing (not on this forum). A lot of familiar faces from La Liga though:)

How come we are talking about Modric speed anyway? He is not slow but he is not fast for sure, he is simply a player that makes all other players in the team better.

I called him "important for real tempo". Meaning he is setting the tempo of the attacks for the whole squad. Ball is always quicker then the player and he and Kroos have mastered that part perfectly with quick distributions to team mates.

Only because of his age now and how he might get too slow. He was never fast we all agree. But with age you lose even more speed (not on running but on reaction) and if the body cannot react as fast as his mind it will begin to show a lot for midfield creatives like him.

Agree about tempo. He is for me the Alonso replacement in Real, setting the tempo not just for his team but for the other team.

I always point to the Giggs and the Inzaghis here, never making speed part of their game, always honing their minds and tactics and overall physicality/agility rather than speed. Can easily see Modric put in 3/4 more years at current rate if he (and I'm sure he does) takes care of his body. I actually can't really tell the difference watching him now and with Spurs 10 years ago:) Looks at a glance lightweight, but his agility's pretty solid.

Granada's only 8/1 tonight, but I'll probably still take them for fun:)

Modric always seemed slow to me, even when he was playing at the last Euro and World Cup, and even when he was in England he never struck me as a fast player, but you definitely see he is slower even on his turns now.

~snip

agree, at Balkans that is called "igra na mozak", it is a bit hard to translate, but could say "he is playing smart, not fast", and that probably keeps him into play till 40, because does not require full physical preparedness

regard the trophy race, Barca seems to be out with Atletico win last night, and Real is still in, it would not be that surprising for Atletico to lose points in last two rounds
even last night, Sociedad could get a point in the end

Real is playing tonight in Granada, maybe Granada can pull something similar to surprising Barca two weeks ago and resolve the championship

But back to parity. Atletico are 2 games away and 2 wins away. They will pray both Real and Barca slip up to give them more breathing space so this has now become a game of "who slips first/last".

I'll be really surprised if Madrid clubs give them another opportunity to catch up.
"it isn't over until the fat lady sings"
Real Sociedad are awful in away games against the big teams this season, but this current Atletico is unpredictable so, keep an eye on the game tonight
I am counting on it Smiley I have 1:1 in the pool and I sort of expect more opportunities for Barca. Atletico lost their edge towards the end of the season and I keep expecting Real to fall flat with the number of minutes Modric, Casemiro and Kroos played this season but only Chelsea had the power in the midfield (thanks to Kante) to actually win that midfield battle. That goes double for Modric who is their main tempo player with 35 years on his back, I just hope he will have some juice left for EURO.

Koeman man, he must be getting nightmares.
i'd be having nightmares too if i knew i'm about to get kicked out of my dream job  Grin imo, Barca is too big a club for him. Improvisation in tactics and gameplan, clueless when things go south, lack of leadership, he simply needs to go

Sorry slaman29, but yeah, if Real and Atletico somehow draw or lose, then they both deserve not to win, I mean, Barca keeps getting gifted from Madrid teams, but keep failing to take advantage. It's like these 3 teams are playing, pass the gift, because everyone is too shy to keep it;)

Messi magic not enough, they need to fix their defence. How do you keep scoring 2 and 3 goals and not winning? Koeman man, he must be getting nightmares.

Levante - Barcelona tonight. A walk in the park for Barca. Levante's stadium used to be a tough pitch to play at for Barcelona (2W-3L in their last 5 meetings in valencia), but nowadays Levante are in relegation kind of form, haven't won a game in over a month and only 1W in their last 9 home games. Easy 3 points and top of the league for Koeman & Co today.
And then Levante takes 2 points away from Barca after losing 0:2 on half time and 2:3 in the late stages of the game. This should be it for Barca title aspirations. I'll be really surprised if Madrid clubs give them another opportunity to catch up.

yeah, pretty unbelievable to see, did not watch till the end, leaved on half-time, and it is quite a say that I was surprised with final score in the end
maybe Atletico will lose some points in the process, but clearly doubt that Real will do as well, so it is probably a title farewell for Barca this season, IMO, they did not deserved it after all

did anyone watched Osasuna and Calvo miss on that match, cannot find on youtube to put it here, but it certainly worth to see what can be missed (if he was in Real/Barca, youtube would be viral with this one), and they rise after that to win the match, completely opposite to Barca that let go two goals advantage

Goodbye to La Liga title. Another opportunity wasted. Levante is fighting for nothing, they won just once in last 7 games, but we still can't beat them, even after leading 2:0. I have no words.
Now we need gifts from Real and Atletico, but c'mon, how many gifts we can get. If we can't beat teams like Granada or Levante in decisive games, I think we simply don't deserve title.

No comments on the penalty? I was quite sure some Real supporter will have something to say about it  Smiley
i started ranting in some other forums and platforms Grin

Fun fact about pens and RM: this season Real Madrid have gone 25 matchweeks without getting a penalty. Last pen we got was against barca at the camp nou last year...so, no pens for Real is pretty much the norm right now, but hey, we're the ones buying the refs and getting all the calls in our favor, amirite? :-P

So, after this round status quo in league table remains and nothing hasn't benn answered yet. Hazard foot in right place on the right time let Real Madrdi to take 1 point from Sevilla.
Real have remaining games with Granada, Athletic and Villarreal
Atletico will play against Real Sociedad, Osasuna and Valladolid
Barca vs Levante, Celta and Eibar.
Real have most difficult remaining schedule, Barca easiest one. But in final rounds teams which fight for spot in league next season is very dangerous too, so everything still can happen.
Only Sevilla is out of title race, they needed win tonight. 6 points behind with 3 rounds remaining - they would need to get many gifts from top 3 teams in last rounds.

Mathematically, nobody is out but yeah, Sevilla was the biggest loser last night, especially after taking the lead twice. They probably thought they won the game already when regular time ran out but as we all know the fat lady usually likes to sing many minutes into injury time:)

On paper, as you say, Barca my team has the easiest time but I will not discount the form of every other team fighting for every point. What an exciting time for us!

I put Sevilla supporter next to my name for this season <...>
guess you're delighted to see they denied RM the chance to be at the top of the league table  Wink  i was fuming last night but we gotta move on, title race's not over, barca and ateltico  are looking shaky and anything can happen

I was very happy indeed since I was waiting on Sevilla x2 to cash my multi ticket. I thought my ticket is busted when Real counter attack ended with penalty but then VAR to the rescue... Penalty for Sevilla instead for Real...You don't see that every day.

Later today: Betis - Granada. I suppose everyone's expecting the home side to take the 3 pts? i'll add them to a single bet https://i.ibb.co/5krMmnK/betis.png moneyline at 1.85 seems good for a team unbeaten in their last 7 games, although 6 of those were draws :/

I'm a Barca supporter so of course I predict a win all the time in case nobody noticed:P

And okay I get what you guys are saying about Atletico and it is not like I enjoy their style also but I just think they deserve it more than us this season (until the last 10 games when we really improved).

Maybe I say this because Suarez is there:)
