@hilariousandco I have some serious complications offline, I’m not here enough, and I’m often not next to my wallet. I hope I'm not late with my entry.

No it's not too late. Just PM me the txid when you're done.

If you do this, then I am absolutely sure that it will not look biased towards other pools or bookmakers.

I'm absolutely sure you're wrong about that.  I think it would be a conflict of interest for a global moderator who's managing the pool to pin the thread for this pool and no other.  Not that H&Co would profit from it, but he is sporting a Sportsbet.io signature in one of his accounts, and Sportsbet.io is sponsoring this pool.  It definitely would look like preferential treatment, and would cause a shit-storm of controversy.

Yeah. Can't really just sticky any thread I want. As long as they're bumped often it does the trick.

Are we expecting many more? 27 is about what we normally get isn’t it, a pretty good number tbh but would be cool to get a few more.

I think we had 50 participants last year, which is a pretty good turnout.  I don't know about the previous years, last year was the first time I participated.  Being that it's a pool, the more the merrier and the bigger the prize pool.  I can't think of any drawbacks to having more people join.

The main PL pool grew by about ten each year, and it was about 20 extra last year probably because on what was on offer with the free shirt etc. I suspect we'll get about 40 this year unless there's a surge of late sign-ups. I would like to get 50 though to match last year and just because that makes the pot a a nice 0.2 to divvy out.

this is good. Can we expect in every round similar contest from there, something like you doing on Tenis tournaments (Roland Garos if I remember correctly)
Not in every round but Yes, there will be plenty of opportunities and similar contests as last year.

Speaking of Free shirts, how about an exclusive Prediction Contest @ Sportsbet.io: Arsenal + Southampton Prediction Contest (Southampton Jerseys!) for those who have paid for this season's Premier League pool  Cool

Regarding pinning the thread, I agree with what DireWolfM14 wrote and more importantly I don't think it is actually needed. This pool is running for several seasons and whoever wanted to join it, found out about it sooner or later.

I found it middle of the season and waited for my opportunity to join and never missed football pool from that moment onward.

Unless it's a rules thread or a generic guide I don't think it should be pinned, in my opinion.

I've updated the OP but I don't think that's the issue here.
Since we are taking steps to increase the number of people in the pool ... I propose to pin one of the PL threads in the title for 3 days, (either in the discussion section or in the games and rounds section). I hope this does not go beyond the rules of the forum, since as far as I understand this pool was created just for the regulars of the mentioned sections. + If you do this, then I am absolutely sure that it will not look biased towards other pools or bookmakers.
I think that technically he can do it, but he shouldn't do it. As much as I would like to get more participants, I don't think that's right to use mod powers to promote his own stuff which isn't runned by forum and where specific company is endorsed. Unless theymos gives permission for it.

I’ve done my predictions for match week 1 now. Just had a little look at the SuperBru league & 27 of us so far have paid & joined. Are we expecting many more? 27 is about what we normally get isn’t it, a pretty good number tbh but would be cool to get a few more.

Thanks to sportsbet.io for adding to the prize pot & sponsoring the pool again.

Let's also start mentioning this thread. I've given it a shoutout in ClubTalk and will continue to do so.

I guess people do have lives.
What do you mean lives  Shocked Am I missing something out there while hanging around here and gambling?

I got so used with the bircointalk that I visit every day, even if it is just for few minutes from my mobile phone while waiting in the line for the groceries. I am only checking watchlist topics though so I can miss new topics easy but I never miss posts in the existing threads or when someone pings me with my username.

Heh, I pretend to have something a bit different from everyone else but the current life that coincided with the time I got into Bitcoin is actually a lot of time spent behind a screen and daily commuting.

A lot of my access on bct is also on mobile... and you know guys how frustrating it can be haha yet I put up with it (and even did before being on sig campaign). The Speculation threads, even the mining and trading, most of which I am only following with no comment, it's pretty out of this world;) It's really pretty good to kill time as I spend ~2 hours a day just commuting, most of that in a bus.

And now web telegram's really improved, yeah, easy to see your post mentioned and get back to it later.

I do like the new Saints one. My Watford is well-worn. Well, well, well-worn.

I've updated the OP but I don't think that's the issue here.

As an individual I'm not sure getting 50 players is a great idea especially for wanting to win the yellow cap as Sportsbet.io give the round winner a free bet.
More players means less chances to be the best in a round despite having 38 chance to get it.
But more players join means bigger pot but also bit less chance to be placed in a payed position unless more players gets us more payed positions like if we have 30 participants we get top5 as winners.
And if we have 50 players we get like 8winners. It's something like participants/winners ratio.

Well if there are over 50 players the pot will be higher but i think more rewards should be added then.I currently like the prize for first place a lot even tho the season is long.I only wish there were more weekly or monthly prizes. We have only 1 prize for every round and thats the 50$ freebet. But its still better then nothing. We should expect before the start that we have between 35-50 players i hope so

Sportstbet did say they'd be the chance to win free shirts on certain games. $50 free bet is more than enough for every round and were lucky to have that. I can't really pay anything out of the pot for them as there wouldn't be much left by the end of it. I might do a consolation prize for the highest overall weekly round but it depends on how many people are playing. Probably won't do it if there's less than 50 users though.

It must have something to do with the fact that 0.0045BTC (last year's entry fee) is written all over the OP so people think that's the fee. It should be updated to reflect the new season and adjusted 0.002BTC fee.
Next to nobody will be reading the op in here.

You're probably right, if anyone was paying attention to the thread they would (or should know) that this years fee is 0.002BTC.  But NotATether has a point.  If some newcomer did check the OP they would see that it was edited on August 5th, yet the entry fee is listed as 0.0045.  It's certainly possible that could deter people from joining.  It certainly couldn't hurt to edit that part of the post.

Shouldn't affect last year's participants, who'd have gotten a PM about it (that's how I got alerted).
but new participants that may replace the regulars skipping this season's pool will probaly back off after seeing that entry fee. The OP needs to be edited with the new entry fee and also a link to the sign-up thread. Maybe add something in the thread title like "epl 2021/2022"

More players means less chances to be the best in a round despite having 38 chance to get it.

When you have 10 games in each round for a maximum of 30 points per round, it's unlikely that a bunch of people are going to finish at the same number of points. It is allegedly so hard that even Suprebru is giving away hundreds of bucks to people who get exact in 6+ matches per round.

But more players join means bigger pot but also bit less chance to be placed in a payed position unless more players gets us more payed positions like if we have 30 participants we get top5 as winners

That's assuming the next 30 people who join the pool are better predictors than you on average but come on, you finished 7th, just half a point behind me in the last pool, remember? Do you really think most of those people will finish ahead of you?  Wink

Premier league is getting more and more interesting year after year. I can understand that for example Serie A isn't getting much love, I wanted to participate in that one so Trofo gets another participant in the pool but I just can't be arsed to put results on random throughout 38 rounds.
~snip

agree on this one, been Serie A member last year, and mostly put random picks from round 10, for example, just based on odds, still thinking about this season

and yeah, if you watch Premier league, this is a bit larger fee, but nothing to hold you from joining, and SB bonus is here as well, while prizes are really good, although I do think that next June BTC will be lower priced than this June
nevertheless, in the end 1BTC is 1BTC always

But I think everybody watches Prem, the fee is really low if you consider that the competition lasts almost a year, and it's actually a great way to gamble a bit of your BTC because it will be worth 3x what it is currently by the end of the competition Grin

Add to it the SB bonuses, it really is a no-brainer for me and I'm surprised we don't have a lot more interest.

26 people have paid so far so halfway there. We'll get 30 users but really was hoping for 50 so spread the word. I'm sure most of us know a friend or someone else who would play so if ten of us could bring in someone else we'd soon get to 50.

Mind you, I've put plenty of win-to-nil predictions, hedging the incredible Specials on Matchday 1 Sportsbet has put out (433/1 for BTTS on all games and 366/1 on a goal in each half).

This thread also gets bumped fairly often, so hard to imagine regulars unaware of it now.
Both hilarius and me are using "old" threads for our respective pools so I am sure all the gambling section regulars have to be aware of them. Right?
Regarding those specials you mentioned, go read Sportsbet twitter or my last post for nice small surprise. Could have worded it better Smiley

Maybe it's psychological.  Bitcoin having such a higher value than it did this time last year might make some feel like it's more expensive than last year.  But again, we have a week before the season starts and there are still some who haven't registered.  18 members have registered on Superbru, but the address shows at least 25 member have paid the entrance fee.  Hopefully we can get at least five more to join in the next week.

Well the fee is actually much less in terms of bitcoin amount. If you think bitcoin is going to rally this year then the pot is going to get much bigger throughout the season. The annoying thing is there's always people wanting to play after the season starts and I know that will happen again.

You see all the regulars in the various league threads, and then come to a pool like this for a relatively paltry sum and disappointing responses.

Some 'regulars' in this gambling section probably dont gamble at all Roll Eyes but yeah the responses was kinda dissapointing. I was expecting somewhere between 35-40 this time because we had 47 players last season

No! Heresy! People posting in Bitcoin forums who don't use Bitcoin, and gambling section who don't gamble? But you're right, I feel like I'm missing some users who were active users a year ago and not anymore. Pamoldar/somethingbitcoingirl reappeared recently, for example. I guess people do have lives.

There's obviously a lot of gamblers here but they will be dwarfed by shitposters just looking for an easy avenue to hit their signature campaign quotas. Lots of people here know little to nothing about bitcoin or probably care much about it but they can rack up a lot of posts just talking about sports.
