Can we decide everything by voting? (add poll to thread).

Don't think it's possible to add a poll but it will be irrelevant anyway as any randomer could vote even if they have no interest in joining.
I am almost sure that the spread of votes will not be significant .. I just thought that the entry fee of 0.002 BTC could equalize the prize pool provided by Sportsbet. In addition, as a rule, Jeremypwr noted, many users who wish to join would prefer to make a transfer from their Sportsbet account, (In any case, any entry fee suits me).

So good news. Thanks to Sportsbet and jeremypwr they will be sponsoring the pool with 0.1btc into the pot along with a free $50 bet for the weekly yellow cap. There will also likely be some opportunities to win a free shirt or apparel for some of the big games.

So how much should we set the fee? It should be somewhere between £25-£50. £35 is currently around 0.0015 and 0.002 is around £46. Don't want it to be too cheap but also don't want to price many people out. Remember, you only need to win a weekly round once to be technically in profit. I'll probably do a small consolation prize for the person who gets the overall highest score from a weekly round at the end of the tournament as well.

I see the problem with European games. Just imagine City playing quarter final of CL against Barca, and Spain has covid measures at that time that say mandatory 10 days quarantine for all not vaccinated people entering the country. At the same time City has derby in the league 3 days before the game and three days after the game with half of the team not vaccinated. What do they do other than force majority of players to get vaccinated?

I am against mandatory vaccination but I have a feeling some clubs will demand it.

agree, this could be a problem
they do not have to make it mandatory per-se, they could revise their contracts to add a clause that if cann't play international matches, due to not being vaccinated, some funds will be decreased from their salary
not sure how this is aligning with UK laws, but they will put it into practice somehow, if needed

it is off-topic, but to add, I am also against mandatory vaccination, but also against uninformed anti-vaccination campaigns, one should inform himself prior to making decision, and that is not easy, since there is a lot of false information on media, TBH

Fans have no choice if they want to attend upcoming matches, but players ... players are a different story. As far as I understand, depending on the club, the medical team may recommend that players refrain from getting vaccinated for obvious reasons. Here's an example for you .... In Russian CSKA, the management announced that the club's players would not be vaccinated, arguing that all of their players had a very high level of antibodies. Therefore, if desired, the Premier League players can easily avoid this procedure while following the letter of the updated rules.

England cancelled all Covid measures a few days ago so I expect full crowds throughout the season. I assume that the fans that are attending will have to be vaccinated but over 80% of the population there is, so filling the stadiums will be easy.

I don't expect it to ever be mandatory for players, it shouldn't be as well. If the majority is vaccinated, a few that are not do not pose a lot of risk.

I can’t believe 21/22 season is just three weeks away.  Time flies...

Anyway, with what’s going on with the covid delta variant and all, do you guys think that there’s going to be a possibility of another lockdown with the coming season being stopped again like last time during 2019/20?

And if there’s going to be empty stadiums again because of delta then expect weird match results.
Yep, this time it feels like there was no break at all cause of EURO.

I am thinking no way they will stop the season, after all we know much more about virus now then in the beginning. There is high probability of matches being played without spectators and I would say 100% certainty that there will be no max number of supporters during most of the season.

There could also be some moves like mandatory vaccination for all the players, either enforced by FA or the clubs themselves if we get some travel restrictions (that goes for European games mostly).

Any updates on new season pool
26 days left for EPL to start again.

Trying to get a sponsor before I announce it.

it should definitely start on time, I saw some people who are never heard but would love to join. 13 August is starting time, it's around 3 weeks left.
Any idea, how much it will be the entry fee? 0.001BTC (same as the Euro2020) can be acceptable to all players.

Depends on how much we get for the sponsor. If it's a lot I'll charge a bit more but they've always been a minimum of £25 to around £35/40.

Carroll was a well known prospect then. He was a panic buy after selling Torres to Chelsea in the last day of the transfer window and was supposed to be a statement signing.

Liverpool's moneyball attempts were players like Borini, Manquillo, Can - but also Firmino and Coutinho, so you can say that the concept was at least semi-successful.

That is why I said that moneyball is a feasible approach in lower leagues, but in the top tier you need quality. It's much harder to find a undervalued PL player to buy than an undervalued Championship player.
I will follow Brentford closely and will hope they prove me wrong.

I guess it was...  Coutinho bought at around 8m GBP and sold for a lot of money is a great example of moneyball.  I’m not sure about the rest you mentioned.

And yup!  Brentford transfer dealings will def be interesting.  Hopefully they stay up.

^  Ok cool.  What I can say about Brentford’s transfer window is it will be very interesting to see what kind of players they’ll be buying.  Wink  They’ve been going for the moneyball approach which have been going good for them.  So it’ll be mostly undervalued unknown players who’ll fit their squad.

LFC tried to do the same some years back but they did it wrong.  They ended up over spending on Andy Carroll and a couple of other players for around 50m GBP total.

Edit:  Not 100m, but 50m.

Andy Carroll played really well in the beginning,I remember him scoring a few goals if I remember correctly but then he could not do anything alone. The whole squad LFC was not in the perfect condition to serve him well in the attacking zone.It was not Carroll fault in my opinion but yes I agree Brentford has no real monetary capacity to bring in top players. It will be good for them if they avoid relegation during the upcoming season if they can't manage to bring some average quality players.

That’s why guys..  Keep those side bets small enough to make paying it easy and small enough to not mind not getting paid.
It was a small bet when we started, maybe 25$ but they insisted to keep it in BTC not USD value so it has gotten bigger.

Anyway, the promoted club I’m rooting for to stay up next season is Brendford.  Anybody want to make an small side bet?  I say they stay up.  Give me 2 to 1.  My 25 bucks for your 50 bucks or we could go less, 15 for 30.
Maybe I'll take you on that Brendford bet but not yet, let's see how transfer window will look. You are paying those bets hallway true the season so I am willing to give you better odds Smiley

As far as I am concerned no point in discussing our side bet anymore. Really does not make sense for him to go missing when he has reward from the pool coming his way. I hope bitcoingirl.club shows up sooner then later and that he is fine.

If he does not show up we will take hilariousetc on his offer to settle the side bets from winnings and that is it.

Hope these side bets get resolved, they’re not for a lot of money. It’d be very disappointing to see them not get settled. I don’t want to have to start tagging people but I will if I have to.

Let's not jump the gun. He hasn't been online since May 23rd and I still have his pool winnings which are enough to cover the bet which I'm sure he knows he's won so there's probably a reason why he hasn't been online. Worse case scenario is I'll pay the side bets but I'm sure he'll return. His account is worth more than the money that is on the line so silly not to try fulfil the bets eventually. If he's not here by the end of the month just message me with the details of the bet and I'll sort it.

If anyone wants to join the Euros pool there's a week left to go so sign up here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcointalks-uefa-euro-2021-pool-sign-up-thread-0001-in-bitcoin-to-join-5338519

I also hope these side bets get resolved as it would be a shame if they are not resolved. That is because everything went so smooth during the pool and it would be bad for these small amounts to not be cleared.

it could be easily solved by hilariousandco, BitcoinGirl.Club has reward from the competition which is bigger than his side best to other players, so he can just deduct side bet amount from BitcoinGirl.Club reward and sent it to others
could be said that this is not "by the book", but neither side bet ignorance is

nevertheless, maybe user is just busy and do not check forum regularly, he/she was not online since May,23, could be sick or something, it is not good to jump to conclusion, and a month should settle all of it
