So how did Chelsea not get a penalty when Maguire was MMA grappling the Chelsea player? VAR is a joke. I've seen VAR give them when a player is holding a fibre of the attackers shirt yet Maguire is practically throttling the player holding him down and no penalty given. If he hadn't done that the Chelsea player likely would have got his head to it.
This really needs to change. VAR just makes all those calls which fall into ref judgement area very exposed and we need to have clear rules what is penalty and what isn't. Foul situations will always be a grey area but I am totally pissed with hand balls. That one should be regulated without any doubt. Either make it in way that every hand ball is the penalty or make it that it is penalty only if there is clear intention to play with the hand. This way everybody feels like they are getting worse treatment.

The question everybody asks when they watch EPL. In La Liga at least, even if I disagreed that the VAR penalty on Ramos was correct (he even somehow dived the wrong way of the direction his shirt was tugged!), at least I can say the decisions, although wrong, were reviewed, and were quite consistent. Pulling shirt is a foul whether or not the guy fell or dived, for example.

But in EPL? Var or no VAR, the decisions are so inconsistent. Whether or not the Chelsea player felt it, or fell, or whatever, Maguire obviously fouled no question, arms around a player, and nobody on earth can understant these things.

It was a penalty, but he did exaggerate it also which is what players tend to do. It's the same as when a player is fouled but he remains upright and carries on the foul isn't given, yet if he dives and throws himself on the floor the ref will give it so that's what they usually do. It's getting annoying to me now when players start rolling around on the floor acting like they've been mortally wounded looking for the foul or a card.

Yup, it's unbelievable this was not given. You can give all the technology to them, but if the referees aren't good enough you did not really help them - you're probably just making things worse.

Bottom line - I think they should bring in referees from other countries. The PL is already considered as an early version of the Super League that's in the making and it sets really high standards in almost all areas - except for refereeing where it's borderline tolerable at best.

I don't think it's about foreign referees. Refs get briefed about how to implement rules by their own governing bodies so it's something that needs to change at the top.

I moved up from last place all the way to joint 24th last round so it shows you how easy it is to move up as that's half the table. Just need to keep up the pace now to make up ground.

P.S. what's the rule on throw ins these days? Pretty sure Sheffield had a couple of throw-ins 15 yards from where the ball actually went out -- they just ran there, picked up ball and threw in. I know it's always lenient and nobody moans about 5 yards but I've seen a number of times now esp now during Covid with fewer ballboys and more balls near the pitch... not being pedant, just something niggling at me.

Nothing's changed but ref's need to start clamping down on it like they did with players trying to take free kicks ten meters from where they were given hence the introduction of the magic spray. If players take the piss with the run ups they should start giving them the opposite way like what happens with a foul throw. They usually walk as far as they can then take the run up from there which takes them even further down the field.

It's really not happening for City this season is it? I actually bet ON them at HT seeing the odds for them to win at 3/1 and I thought they'd do it once Foden got the equaliser at 50th min. Palace continue to be really good to bet on if you like 2/1 and 3/1 odds.

Going for dinner now so will miss Chelsea win, no money on the game except a parlay I already lost.

I’m not writing City off yet, they’re still really dangerous & could definitely still win the title.
If they win their game in hand they’ll only be 2 points behind us. We play them at The Etihad soon too so if we lost that we’d be behind them.

It’s a long race but we’re right up there Wink
After this round matches we are going again for two way race in EPL because others are not doing as they need to do and Liverpool and Manchester City are also not as they need to be but still good fight in these two giants for title is going from now but as many saying its too early to call any result as mostly we will clear in January who is going for what.

Nope, it's likely not.  Liverpool's outright to win the EPL this season at 2.62 is value imo.  It was at 3.1 before this weekend's fixtures.  It's likely gonna keep dropping til they're odds on the clear favorite..  I'd say by late Jan.

Now I hope for a good match between Arsenal and Leicester. I think that Sunday deserves a great game and first two matches were sort of disappointing.

first two were a disappointment, and third was the same
Arsenal had a bit better play, but Leicester done it with one goal, just to throw my ticket down (i actually believed that Arsenal will win it yesterday)

Tottenham should a good game tonight and a clear win, have put 0:3 in Superbru prediction pool

Finally I managed to change my prediction before the match for better one. I think this is the first time it happened ever Smiley I had Wolves to win 2:1 and then changed all today games to draws and chose 1:1 for the Wolves. I am playing Wolves 0:0 first half for the rest of season. It is happening almost every game.

Wolves keeper is also really good,,, forget that he let in that freekick last night, his wall did not do their job and no keeper I think can be blamed for that one even though commentators said he should have done better.

I have improved my results in this round and made a few positions back up towards Top 10 so hoping for 2 more good results. Spurs, please do not let me down!

Damn Newcastle haha. Took 3 points away from me with my 1-0 Wolves score, along with 12 others haha. Well done you lot who did 1-1 though! Bloody weeks of draws coming back and biting me in the ass here.

Vardy and his usual smash and grab. Took me another 1.5 points to lift me up a little on the table!

I watch Liv vs. Sheffield yesterday, I must say Liverpool were very lucky and it could have looked different.
Southampton wins 3:0 against Everton, it seems the honeymoon is slowly passing.
Sheffield looked good on paper, equal shots more or less, but watching the game, have to say Liverpool did deserve the win. The penalty gave them the goal, and that's what you get when you have a DM as a CB haha...

Salah's goal (VAR'ed off) was just everything he's been the entire season so far. That control and crisp finishing... but yeah, it could have gone any other way in this type of game. When we're defending, I have no idea what we're doing sometimes. Gomez was MOTM though... haha.

It happened to all teams. I just check top 7 on the table. if we exclude Liverpool which is located in a real zone, other in top seven is Everton, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton. who could have expected this? Liverpool had the worst defence in the league?
I think I miss everything in this round  Sad

I think Leeds will push on until January/February at least. As long as they will be able to stick to their current game plan, they will do well.
The problem is that Bielsa's teams always run out of gas at some point and when they do - they can't find their way back because the players are simply too worn out. It won't happen that fast though.

Yeah it was always going to be how they can push other teams. No Europe, so they have all fuel tanks on the Prem League, and the Championship where they faltered 2 seasons ago is more gruelling in terms of games so they might be able to do well for as long as they can maintain a cushion come Jan.

Well sterling had a lot of chances in the match especially at the end of the game,he should have won it for city, while chelsea and man utd is another dead game as i see with 0:0,hard to predict what will happen in this match.

Keeps adding fuel to the case that he isn't a good striker if he's not got confidence around him (I think it's just form), though he should be all right now with Aguero back in the team. Didn't see Chelsea/Utd but even the stats suggest it was a dull affair. Goals drying up now?

heh! Hundreds of millions spent in transfer only to have one (1) shot on target against one of the weakest Man utd sides in decades. At least Mendy is turning out to be a great GK, who even is Kepa at this point?  Grin

btw, should Burnley get a good result tomorrow vs. Spurs, Man Utd would finish Matchweek 6 closer to the relegation zone than to the #1 spot...Only 5 games so far tho, yes, but still...

Liverpool vs Sheffield? i have a 3-0 home win, but meh, watch The Blades steal the 3 pts because this is the most ramdom EPL season ever 😒

Um yeah. I actually missed the penalty, but I think we were lively most of the second half leading up to Jota's header (his first in the Prem actually haha). Salah deserved a goal, I can't believe how super sharp he's been this season so far, just a pity he's peaking again when our defence... isn't.
