This number could go up alot higher if he play on various slots which usually have more than 3-4% house edge on average.
I am guessing that this number is a lot higher because his favourite game seems to be 'Sweet Bonanza' which is a candy slots game with a whopping 3.5% house edge.

My assumption is that he is in profit overall despite the high house edge against him since he probably would have stopped wagering such humongous amounts long back if his bankroll was getting depleted quickly.

Incredible to see people wagering THAT much on dice, even more incredible to see it being spent on slots with 3.5x the house edge, phew! But I guess he must have tried to play big stakes to win slots jackpot. In any case, full credit to the player, Stake must be very happy to have such high rollers playing there. I don't think I'll ever in my lifetime wager even 10% of that in one contest.

if a player came up with an $ 80m wager a day this might be a little questionable. You can calculate the max bet in each game and combine it with a $ 80 million wager

For dice the max bet is 100BTC (~$5.8 million).

So the fastest $80m could be done at 1 bet per second is ~14 seconds.

So does it mean that 'MalteseFalcon' was from the Stake team who suddenly pops up right at the end to win the competition. I am not accusing stake right now but it seems that something fishy is going on here. But then if the stake wanted to manipulate the competition they could have keep the name hidden till the end. It must have been some sort of whale who wager $80 million  Shocked

I don't know how true it is but one thing that I do know for sure is that the stake team wouldn't organize such a huge competition only to jeopardise it for their own selfish interests. I mean, the team has organised several competitions in the past with prizes bigger than this yet they delivered on their word. One possible explanation for this MalteseFalcon win is that he carefully planned out a strategy about how he would win and made good on it. Also, there was someone on the top spot with a hidden username and only made it visible when it got closer to the end of the competition.

A quick note though - You don't necessarily need to have liquid $80M to wager $80M.

I believe anything is possible but before it can be proven we can only consider it an argument

I see it took 2 weeks for the top 10 players to increase their wager to $10-30 million.

I didn't keep track of the competition but when I was watching it, this name 'MalteseFalcon' was not there. Did he suddenly wake up and wager $80 million overnight to win $250k? Whatever, congrats to him on such big win. I wish I could wager even 1/10000 of his wager.  Undecided

No one knows except himself and Stake. I did not see his name as well few days back when the leader was a hidden username with more than $45million if I remember it correctly. Who knows if he was one of the hidden usernames then he decided to set the private off to show his name before the race end? There can be some speculation, but it is not that important thing imho. No matter he did it overnight or in just few hours, he did it very well although we do not know whether he is in positive or negative while wagering that $80 million.

Nah, Stake has made a lot of money from 1000s of people wagering it out to get into the top 5000 for that race. The highrollers like Syztmz tried his best to be on top, but a well known player like MalteseFalcon held his money back to the end and just edged past the #1 and #2 and won the race.

The $250 000 for the first position and the other 4999 prizes, will not make up for what some of these players had to wager to get to the top 5000 players. (I think most people did not even profit from the rewards they got)  Cheesy
For rest of the gamblers they've got a small reward for their regular wagering, other than the lucky numbers 1777, 2777, 3777, 4777 and four more lucky pick. In the event of wagering more people might've lost big, but what they got is little. It means for 1000+ on the table receives just $30

wager 80 million+ and you can lose more than everyone that won $30 combined

Every scenario is possible but you guys just speculation there is no right things in here. IMO, discussing some topics we can't really be trusted just a wasting time. For example the scenario from @Bitnity, he can be private his account so no one knows his name but he decides to make his account public during the last of the month. By the progress of STAKE, while they can hire some UFC to be ambassadors and how they handle previous lottery contests.

I'm really sure they don't want to do that, still can imagine how much they cost to promoted stake with ambassador UFC but they cheat their own contest? I guess not. If some unknown casino, I still believe they can be cheat but for stake well I trusted them.
I do not believe stake would scam people for small amount of money neither, but I understand what the other people come from. I mean we are talking about what 250k? Something like that, and this guy wagered 80+ million dollars for that. Sure maybe he started out trying to win at first but then he actually ended up profiting from gambling and things went well and then he kept gambling just for gambling sake, who knows what happened, I haven't checked his past.

However I am pretty sure that no sane person would risk 80 million dollars for few hundred thousands dollars. What people do not understand is that 80+ million is basically elite of elites, people who are so rich that they are in the high tables, talks with presidents, build thousands of jobs, create new sectors, it is insanely a lot of money, hell Tesla started with less money on early days.

I was at the end days of addiction, and the loss through gambling addiction made me think of dying. However I'm completely out of such thinking and now too gambling, but with god's grace I just enjoy and trying with small amounts.
It's good to hear that you got rid of your suicidal thoughts, but I advise improving your state of mind so that you can avoid such thoughts completely in the future. Invest and gamble only what you are willing to lose.
If we started to keep losing while gambling or anything in our life then take a break from it and just don't focus on anything is important which avoid the stress or anything severe like suicidal thoughts. But when we want to gamble then we need to be ready always for the loss so we can avoid such thoughts as well.
It is indeed difficult for addicted people to leave and one of them wants to continue gambling, but in the end, they become stressed because of the large losses, therefore remove in your brain the image of gambling that will certainly kill you if you force it.
We just need to learn to be alone where we have to be able to let go when it's ready so gambling is not a problem and this is what happens a lot when losses occur there will definitely be a lot of complaints.
Make a habit of gambling using safe money, which means it doesn't burden your life in the future.
Bets should be made out of our profits not with the capital we got so if we exhaust our profits then we may not gamble anymore or atleast we will take a break which is indeed.

Gambling is really fun and thrilled experience but the problem raises when we use it to make money for our living.

Finally Million Dollar Race have got finished. MalteseFalcon have won the race and wins the 25% of the prize pool. Congrats to MalteseFalcon. To win the 25% of the Million Dollar Prize Pool he had wagered $79,243,850.39

Huge congratulations to MalteseFalcon on the huge win. It wasn't an easy feat to achieve. I do recall that there were others in #1 spot throughout the duration of the contest but he kept going regardless. Even though I wasn't able to participate actively in the competition, I wanted to say a big kudos to the stake team for organising competitions like this where a large majority of participants are rewarded.

I have a question though, is there anyone in the top winning positions that got there through wagers on only Sportsbook? Because I'm thinking... To get those high wagering stats, casino games are the best bets.

Am I seeing that right or wrong? That says he wagered nearly 80 million dollars, that is insane man. I mean I have seen plenty of people who gamble in casinos, and I suppose people did played this much back in the day so maybe they were early investors to bitcoin and not care about what is going on, recently I have seen someone else wager a ton and win on another place as well.

These people are crazy, sure they may not be super rich people and just lucky people that's true, but no matter who says what, unless there is a proof that this dude wasn't a wealthy person, I will keep believing that there is a guy out there who wagered 80 million dollars because he is so rich that he couldn't handle being beaten by someone else, or he just enjoys gambling and couldn't stop himself and he is so rich that even gambling 80 million worth wasn't a financial strain.

Glad to hear, Vaskiy. The gambling subforum of bitcointalk is interesting with its active chatters like you. You should better know than others that gambling is what one should get involved if it is under control.
