The 3Billion coin dump is insane.  It will take the price below 100 sats.

That's what I'm thinking. Isn't this an obvious short to make? Unless I'm missing something.

Then you should dump now and not wait until that dump, those 3 B is good, the real danger is devs keeping them along with all their rest of premine, small market can recover easily from a dump, a big market cap (100 million usd) or more will not recover easily from a dump like that, it could kill the coin.

Maybe they want everyone to short.  Then they cancel it at the last minute.

2B+ lumens will be awarded to projects built on Stellar more info here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1529992.new#new

Why did you created Ripple and Stellar with a so huge 100 billion premine?

You have only released a few millions, not even 5% of total coins, up to this date after 3 years of Ripple they still have 50% or more premine I believe the same will happen here.

Why did you dump your Ripple holdings?, and what guarantee do we have about the same not happening here?

Your premine on both coins were crazy but people gave you a chance guys only to find risks are always real when you dumped your coins because of an internal dispute investors have nothing related to.

You should give away at least 80% of your coins if you want this project to have real success.

So, just so I understand...On July 4th, 3 billion more STR/XLM will be hitting BTC wallets/exchanges? Won't this immediately destroy the price of STR, as the new coins dump on the exchanges? Am I missing something or is price irrelevant to Stellar.org? Or maybe because things in the crypto world are often the opposite of logical, STR will fly. But that seems like an unlikely scenario. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks

seem like you're still one of those that didn't give up. i use to own thousands but dumped it after 6 months without clear lane.
i believe i still have few thats left i even forgot to open my wallet for almost 3 years now.  is there really something laid for STR holders?

I haven't ever really looked at STR until recently, and I'm just trying to understand their logic. I feel bad for people who are holding STR if all the new coins are just dumped, especially long term holders. Why wouldn't everyone just open a short position on Polo with all these new coins about to be airdropped?

where are you getting the 4th July and 3 Billion STR from?

ashapasa: Things are going really well in Nigeria. We should have some news from there in the next month.  The thing about stellar is that you can use any type of currency in the network. So most people will just use their local currency so they aren't issues of currency volatility. People in Nigeria using stellar will be sending around Niara not lumens.
I agree speculation should be left to the people that can afford to do it.

Hi,

Stellar rose in valuation quite a bit these last few days I noticed. I did not notice this coin before,  after reading up on it, I find it's not a new coin, I really like the message of stellar and its goal of helping third world countries. I see similarities with Nem not tech wise but message wise and market cap is small enough to rise and have a nem like explosion.

I would appreciate if you could answer a few questions

How is your Nigeria money transfer project progressing? Is it gaining traction, are they no foreigne currency regulation in Nigeria? Will it be legal in Nigeria? Is this the only project of stellar or are there other projects. Also Nigeria might be rich resource wise but people are poor won't you feel remorse if poor people use stellar and price fluctuate and poor people loss money.

I don't feel bad for crypto speculators like me losing money but poor people using stellar or lumens using it thinking to save on transcaction fees might loss their hard earned money in currency fluctuation. How are you going to solve currency volatility?

the problem with lumens is that if its needed just to transfer/change the money, there is no need for it to rise...

In Ethereum, Ether is only used to pay for running smart contracts. ETH has gone from nothing to a 1B+ market cap, yet there is no need for it to rise.

If stellar becomes the backbone of a worldwide internet based financial system, do you really think that lumens price won't rise?
I can say yes the lumens price is won't rise. well, Stellar or lumens is one step behind ETH or another cryptocurrency, and I see the market the price is always stable every time.

holy shit the prodigal son returns!  Grin

Let's assume we gain some traction in Nigeria.
There are ~$21B in remittances sent to Nigeria every year.

that is a big assumption, can you give us some more info about how things are going in Nigeria? How many users does stellar have there at the moment? What miles stones have been accomplished in that market?

Not at all. We have a ton of integrations in progress:
An article about the integration of Stellar with Barclays and Deloitte: http://www.americanbanker.com/news/bank-technology/how-barclays-aims-to-bring-a-billion-unbanked-into-the-fold-1081591-1.html
We should have another really big announcement next month.

It doesn't even have to do that.
Stellar is perfect for remittances.
The majority of remittance traffic through stellar will use lumens as the bridge currency since it is much easier. So the market makers will have to maintain some float in lumens.
Let's assume we gain some traction in Nigeria.
There are ~$21B in remittances sent to Nigeria every year.
If you are interested in the potential price, you should calculate how much that float would mean the lumen price would have to be. That is one country and it is the floor and doesn't include the mark up for speculation.
