What is wrong with Stellar or Lumens or whatever they want to call it?
I have about 800,000 Stellars at my Wallet and I would like them to exchange them to BTC or Ethereum and I simply cannot.
From JustCoin & Kraken they both told me that I cannot exchange it at the moment! But WHY?

There's a decent volume on exchanges, can't find anything about transactions not being processed.

Have you tried Poloniex?

I sent some STRs from wallet to Poloniex on 2016-01-17 for trading, no problem.

Wasn't every account here supposed to get 6000 stellar eventually?

I know they decreased it to around 1200, but wasn't the remaining part supposed to be given later?

I think they discontinued it and kept all the remaining funds for themselves.

Stellar's SCP consensus algorithm can be preempted forever by a Sybil attack (or it can be centralized where users trust those well known banks and such):

Some Stellar-in-the-real-world news: "Stellar Partners With Oradian To Bring Instant Money Transfer To Nigeria"
http://techcrunch.com/2016/02/02/stellar-partners-with-oradian-to-bring-instant-money-transfer-to-nigeria/

Yesterday marked the launch of a low-cost payment transfer network among several microfinance organizations in Nigeria. Via an integration with microfinance software provider Oradian, this network reaches a total of 200 branches and serves over 300,000 end clients (over 90% are women), mainly in rural areas across Nigeria.

I never understood how Stellar works in terms of usability, wallet creation, etc. I might need some clarifications on this. How do I exactly set up a LMN wallet? I don't seem to find a Stellar client anywhere. Is there a beginners guide for Stellar out there?  Huh

There's a knowledge center with some FAQ's on getting started with Stellar. You might find this article on creating a new account helpful: https://stellarorg.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/206354176-How-do-I-create-a-new-account-on-the-upgraded-network-

Also the Stellar Slack chat at slack.stellar.org (also mirrored with IRC at #stellar-dev ) is a good place to ask questions and get acquainted with Stellar.

Hey thanks for sharing this useful source of information. I will take the time to read it out and eventually buy my first LMN. Considering the features that Stellar has, I think it is a little undervalued (in terms of price) but makes it a great long term investment. If I have any more doubts, I will definitely use the Slack chat.  Smiley

How many validating nodes total are there in Stellar?  And how many of them are run independently from the Stellar Foundation.

Here's a list of (known) validator nodes: https://github.com/stellar/docs/blob/master/validators.md
None of them are run by Stellar.org. (We do run a couple nodes recording and saving network history, just FYI).

Ok.  Thanks.

Not sure if you've seen it, but there's a Stellar chat at slack.stellar.org - that's where most of the community (and Stellar.org team) hangs out.  It's a bit more real-time than a forum, but it also works very well asynchronously. If you don't like Slack, the chat mirrors with stellar-dev on IRC.

got an email today that the dedicated stellar forum stellartalk is going to shut down by the end of the year. says everything about this coin. RIP

I saw it on twitter they were indeed shutting down for good after amassing a lot of money.

^ Lol.  What?

He must be talking about the forum shutting down.

Stellartalks been shut down, but stellar.org is still up. There can't be a good replacement forum yet because there is no link to one at stellar.org

https://www.stellar.org/

It links to facebook, twitter, etc but it used to link to stellartalk. It's important for the community to have a forum to talk about stellar. Stellar.org should set one up themselves like ripple did.
