So, sports bettors, has it ever crossed your mind to keep a spreadsheet?

Nope, never had such thought or plan because I don't necessarily care how my gambling lifestyle is going, I know I am not off balance, I usually win and I also experience losses too, I gamble with just the smallest amount I can afford to lose and I think that's why I don't bother about record keeping.

I am a very busy person at work and when I get home, my kids are always all over me, which means that I will not be able to practice keeping record on spreadsheet, because I don't take my win to be a do or die affair but accept whatever the outcome of my bet is. Anyone having spreadsheet for gambling is taking it too personal and needs to get himself more occupied by important things because he has enough free time. Currently, I gamble only weeknds on Saturday and Sunday, and I bet on one or two games with little amount.

So, sports bettors, has it ever crossed your mind to keep a spreadsheet?
It is rubbish to me. Why should I take betting or gambling so serious to the point that I will start to be keeping spreadsheet for tracking or whatever the other benefits that are mentioned. I just gamble with small amount of money. What I am concerned about is the money that I deposited and no other thing. I can easily know if I make profit in gambling or not without the need for any spreadsheet.

I like the idea and it is for people who really care about making a fortune from gambling. This will be too much for me, because I gamble when I am free in my leisure time with the money that I can afford to lose.
I think even if you are not interested in being a professional gambler, it would still be wise to have some kind of record of what did you spend on. I mean even if you are not gambling we should track our expenses either way so even while gambling it can be helpful to keep a record as well.

Otherwise, you may end up gambling too freely and you won’t realize you keep taking money to spend. It’s hard to gain back the money you lost because you didn’t notice what was happening.

I have a gambling budget for my gambling activities, and I don't want to be a professional gambler because no matter how you try to find different ways to outsmart gambling, you will still lose more than the amount you will win in the long run. You cannot win the desired money you want but you can limit your losses by gambling responsible and stop at the right time.
That is true but we can still try. If we get lucky, we can stop. If we don’t get lucky, we can stop as well. Just know your limits and have fun  Wink

How exactly can this table help, despite only showing general info for a person who dedicates lots of time to sports betting. It only helps to follow general results. And even then, does it shows correct data? Look at Overall All_time data. $123+$7+$38-$52 = $116, but table shows $123. Already confusing. What can I say by look on this table? Place more bets on NBA, as a persons seems to be more lucky with choosing results. But that does not help me to find a bet with lower risk of loosing.

Good one. This is just keeping your betting record in a spreadsheet format easy to be tracked and checked, but it's all a long process for me to be doing at every point in time. It's time-exhausted, but it's effective. Unless I want to turn gambling into a full-time job (not possibly thinking about that), I don't think I will gather up that courage to kill the laziness in me to start taking records when my brain is already enough notepad for me.

That's why int the beginning, it is said to be for those who want to become a pro on sports betting. But the question is, are there really people who really become pro is sports betting? Because if we say pro, at least from my understanding of it, you treat it like a regular job or at least you depend your life on it to bring food in the table for your family?

Nevertheless, it's a good spreadsheet for those who wants to track their progress.

But for me, nah, I'm just a regular bettors, who don't spend that much and maybe I can calculate my losing money in my head.

To be honest I don't think my god is really serious about it. I will just look at my betting statistics and I won't make a book like that.
but it looks interesting and maybe fun for gamblers who do it. but wouldn't it take time and also be consistent continuously which might make me bored.
maybe I will choose to just bet and forget about everything. if not maybe I will be really stressed with all my bets.

I'm good with the aid keeping records provides on spotting favoritism. It places a gambler on the mode of trusting their instincts instead of following favorite. Having those traces and figuring out how many times money has been lost due to persisting mistakes, the zeal to adjust begin to fall into the gambler's mind. Doing it works, but I doubt if it'll make anybody a gambling pro.
Becoming a gambling pro is something that is almost impossible to achieve relying on human instincts and keeping the memory and data to yourself, have such chat in place helps alot at least as a gambler you will be able to keep track of but your inflow and outflow and even the sentiment in you bet games selection, all this can be achieved using the record data tracking, although it can't give a 100% accuracy but at least it will push one to a limit that only expert ms can teach, with no or few possibilities of just releality.

Yes, but laziness became the wall which is the reason I stopped continuing my spreadsheet. Work and father time can sometimes be too laborious especially when the kids are growing and starting to go to school, I think that's the time I stopped listing all my records in NBA betting.
But now I have time and starting to think about it again, especially with my activity on NBA. This is very important for every sports bettor out there who really wants to make profits out of that kind of gambling.
Records will not lie, and it could also show if we need some adjustments when we see that we are on a losing track. We must be doing something wrong that needs to be changed.

Fine by Time
Gambling has never been more fun when a gambler can fully keep good track of his gambling history. The casino has a section for activities and that section keeps a record of their gambling activities which is very useful for a gambler. Going as far as creating a spreadsheet for keeping a deep record could only mean one thing, which is the idea of taking gambling as a career.

1. You can find what bet types you excel at.  By tracking your bets, and grouping the data by bet type (spreads, totals, moneylines, props, parlays, teasers) you can quickly find out what types profit you the most, and which ones cause you to lose your bankroll to the books.
This is good, and it is for those who gamble with different casino games. For me, I stick to sports betting alone because i already figured out that am more progressive in sports games than any other casino games.

3. Spot any favoritism or biases you have.  I spoke with a semi-pro bettor named William after the 2020-21 NBA season. Will told me that after the season, he broke all his tracked bet data down by team and compared it to the research he had done before he placed each bet. He realized that there were at least 15 times he lost a bet where his research had pointed him to bet on one team, but his favoritism caused him to bet on the opposite team!  Crazy right?  Think of all the biases that could be keeping you from making the right decisions.
It is wrong to pick a side to win because they are our favorite club. Being passionate about our club cannot make use win our bet. When we know our favorite team will lose, we should play them to lose if we can't then we should avoid the game entirely. Since playing on them will make us lose the bet.

This might be new for some who just gamble without a real bankroll, but for those who are serious about sports betting, consider this: data is crucial for tracking your journey. According to a site I found that also shows a good format for spreadsheet tracking, here are the benefits of keeping tabs on your bets.

What are the benefits of tracking your bets?

1. You can find what bet types you excel at.  By tracking your bets, and grouping the data by bet type (spreads, totals, moneylines, props, parlays, teasers) you can quickly find out what types profit you the most, and which ones cause you to lose your bankroll to the books.

2. Learn what leagues you profit from the most. This is a big one, and although you probably have a good idea of what leagues you're best at, grouping your bet data by league can greatly improve your chances of figuring out exactly what is causing those wins on your NFL bets, and causing those big losses for NHL bets, for example.

3. Spot any favoritism or biases you have.  I spoke with a semi-pro bettor named William after the 2020-21 NBA season. Will told me that after the season, he broke all his tracked bet data down by team and compared it to the research he had done before he placed each bet. 4. The ability to follow your money.  By this I mean knowing where your money is going, where you are putting the most in, where you are losing the most, and what areas you are profiting the most

So, sports bettors, has it ever crossed your mind to keep a spreadsheet?
