I think the problem is money, cricket in West Indies isn't attracting a lot of money apart from the Caribbean premier league which started very recently, earlier cricketers were not paid a lot for playing cricket and also it's not that glamourous for you until you become a legend there. This might be one reason why there is no new talent coming in the team, also as West Indies isn't one single country so that makes the politics of the board quite confusing too, but I am very sure that this team isn't becoming a good team for next 10-15 years in Test, they are just going to struggle that's all.
Money were never been issue in Windies cricket because sometime back I read one statement from Board Member issue is not related to money they have some ethics issues which are now having some serious damage and sad thing is no one country able to have his own team so just because of this they are not having proper set up, but hopefully they will do some better in near future, or they will completely down and out like Zimbabwe because it's not going to stay like this for lone time. Right now they are having challenges from Afghanistan and Bangladesh as they are now on this level due to their personal issues.

The international team of west Indies is any ways weak and will never be able to prosper again, most of their players have become stars due to international leagues only, except a few rest have not played that much international cricket and most of their fame comes from T20 leagues, last great test batsmen of WI were Brian Lara, Chandrapaul and Sarwan, post that there has never been any giant player who has played consistently for them for a long time in all three formats.

Dont know what happens to WI team, they were once strongest team in cricket world and now a days they are playing WC qualifiers. We see there star players playing T20 leagues but they are not included in national side, I don't know wts the reason for that. 2016 was the last time they went up but since then its a dry period. Covid saved them from another whitewash in ODI series.

They were once a team to reckon and till a few years back they were playing well and then suddenly this kind of decline is alarming. I think the WI board is unable to find good talent or they have become quite complacent in selecting good players. It can be also corruption but something is wrong with this team. The board need to reevaluate the current situation and the players need to work hard to improve there performance.

Anyone following Lanka league? It's also going on, I just saw it on espncricinfo.com. No one discussing it here, which is strange. Was checking squad of COLOMBO STARS and DAMBULLA GIANTS,  there were players from South Africa, westindies, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Ireland. No one from big3 + NZ.

Dude, your argument is full of contradictions. Pakistani players participate in T20 leagues all around the world and are in high demand across the globe (BBL, CPL, Abu Dhabi T10, LPL.etc). On the other hand, the BCCI has prohibited Indian players from participating in foreign T20 leagues. So they have just the IPL to participate. In that case, if the franchise leagues result in a downfall of quality, the Pakistani players should be playing like shit? The issue with West Indies is something entirely different, and I have explained it several times in the past.

Are there any chances that IPL may include Pak players in coming seasons. I read that current government in India are very much against inclusion of Pak players in IPL. IPL quality will definitely improve if we see Pak players in action there.  BCCI should separate cricket from politics.

You are biggest supporter of T20 leagues AFAIK. I do agree with your argument that these leagues have brought in money which has improved lives of cricketers. You also have to agree that performance of teams like WI n SA are severely affected by these league's. Pakistan is only one not affected by leagues since they are not allowed to play ipl.

A lot of people claim that franchise cricket is responsible for the downfall of West Indies. But I don't agree with such arguments. Franchise cricket has brought in the money and this has in turn made it possible for a lot of athletes to stay in cricket. The problem with West Indies is something else. Rather than a single country, West Indies is a conglomerate of a dozen or so independent nations. The selectors from each of these countries tend to favor players from their own nation. On top of that, there are issues related to race and religion, which affects the selection policy. In the end, all of these have a negative impact on the performance of the national team.

The West Indies will be even weaker in the coming days. Without experienced players like Pollard, Gayle and Russell in the squad, the West Indies team will not be able to perform well. Management should have found the right replacement for these players and made them more experienced. Management has not done its job properly. So now the team is weak. The future of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and West Indies is bad enough.

There is no dearth of talent. The selectors just need to have stability and patience. First of all, they should give adequate time for the players in order to settle in, rather than dropping them after just 2-3 matches. And secondly, they should allow team bonding to build, and discourage any attempts to group players based on their citizenship. Players like Pollard and Gayle are legends and replacing them won't be easy. But they don't have any other choice and need to bring youngsters to the front.
No one have any doubt about their talent in cricket, but recently they are facing some issues in bowling as they completely fail to have any match winner bowler which is surely a big problem they have too many good batsmen from them many are performing in different franchise, but their bowling department is really poor for very long time.

On other side their selection process is also now creating concerns because too many countries and all having their own interest which is also now concern for them few decades ago there were no issue regarding selection as good and quality players were coming regularly, but now they are using some quota or related thing which is not giving good result but no one want to change this all for better future of cricket.

West Indies could not win today's match. Even after collecting 206 runs, they have been defeated. Pakistan scored 208 runs in just 18.5 overs. Mohammad Rizwan scored 87 and Babar Azam 79 runs. After a long time I saw a good innings from Babar azam. However, Pakistan has won all the matches of the T20 series. I hope they win all the matches of the ODI series.
After the first innings when West Indies scored over 200 runs, I was quite confident that Pakistan will gift the match to the visitors to show them some gesture but 158 runs partnership between baber and rizwan changed the whole game. I think the Pakistan team has got the best opening pair as they have scored good runs between them.
It is such a pleasure to see Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan continuing their partnership, just what consistency! It is the only pair of Pakistani men's T20Is with four 150+ stands. I believe the best 150+ unbroken partnership occurred against India during T20CWC. In a calendar year, Mohammad Rizwan became the first batsman to score 2000 T20 runs also. I hope he continues to score.
Mohammad Rizwan was not the opener for the Pakistan team when he started playing for the national team and also his batting was ordinary. But once he was promoted as an opener, his game totally changed and it prove to a wise decision to play him as an opener which is beneficial for himself as well as for the team.

Rizwan is a great opener. The Pakistan Cricket Board is very lucky to have an experienced opener in the squad. If the opening pair can start the innings well then the chances of winning the match increase. As long as Rizwan and Babar Azam are in form, it will be very difficult for the opposition to thwart Pakistan's winning streak.
This is all about players own ability and addiction we have too many examples in cricket as biggest one is Steven Smith he joined Australia as spinners, but currently he is one of the best batsmen in cricket history as same happen with Kumar Sangakara he was also wicket keeper, but later he joined elite club of top ranked batsmen.
Now Mohammad Rizwan is doing very hard work, and he is taking good advantage of this all with his very good form with bat and gloves, hopefully he will shine in good way and will do something big for his country and his own sack. West Indies cricket is now just a crap with strange problems which are now having deep roots and nothing coming positive for them in near future.

This was very clear from the beginning that Pakistan will whitewash the T20 series. WI this time for a change did bat well and scored more than 200 runs but their balling was not up to the mark. Pakistan has been consistently playing well after the recent world cup, the fact that they fielded the same XI across this T20 series does say how settled this side is now.

Unlike the other national cricket teams, West Indies represent a loose conglomerate of a dozen or so independent nations, and there are always issues with nepotism and selection. These issues surface once in a while and bring down the morale of these players.
West Indies always represented a loose conglomerate of dozens of independent nations even when they were dominating world Cricket during the 1970 and 1980. The level of talent was reduced considerably, they had some great players and the captain can be credited for finding those great players. Not sure about the current situation or the nepotism while selecting rather than skills.

West Indies played well and had posted a good total of 207 runs and still Pakistan did not allow them to win especially Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam their main pillars of batting Cheesy.
