Speaking of sledging you might want to do a bit of study about how Australian cricket works in general. May be watch "The Test" series (episode 3rd and 4th regarding Kohli). Last time whole Australian squad and crowd sledge him in Australia was 2014, he went to score 4 daddy hundreds in a single series. Kohli vs Johnson was a big rivalry back then, Johnson still pissed at kohli.

In my view the success of a tournament depends upon the quality of the matches played and how long it can attract the fans to tune in and how long. If the tournament becomes bigger, you cannot expect the viewers sticking through all the matches and it is all connected to the revenue and it is directly linked to the advertisement the media gets during the match. If the viewers goes down it will affect the revenue market as well. If media channels are not getting the advertisement they expect they wont be shelling out huge amounts for broadcasting rights.

India big market and popularity of cricket in India are two main factor why IPL is such a huge success. On the same lines we see Big Bash and other leagues are not much successful in terms of financial gains. There is T20 league in every test playing country but they are no way near to IPL. So boards have to stick with bilateral series and ICC events for there survival.

Yes, I absolutely agree with you and I think this will be rather good for ICC because in this way I think that more people will be interested in cricket and more countries will start playing cricket professionally. Then the money will also be bigger and better, And also earn more revenue. And people will also be able to make time to see t20 cricket as it is not so much long as one day or test cricket.

Football is much more popular and established game then cricket. FIFA is as big as UN, while cricket is not popular in the whole world. There are only 10 test playing countries. But with 10 teams, it is going to take really long for IPL to end this time. The international cricket schedule will also be affected by this as you said.

More then 90 days of year already gone to IPL, which means only 9 months are left for International cricket and other T20 leagues. BCCI is adding more team since they wanna add more to there profits. I don't think ipl will provide any new talent to BCCI as talented players come from test and odi.

One suggestion would be to increase the threshold for the number of overseas players in the playing XI from 4 to 5. I have a suggestion that we don't have 70-80 quality players in India who can be evenly distributed to all the 10 franchises. And we saw this during the last IPL, when the Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled with their local contingent. Last year there were only 8 franchises. From 2022 onward, there will be 10. So I guess the shortage of local players will be felt more. The increase in overseas players can neutralize this.

But increasing the number of overseas players maybe it can hamper the main reason why IPL is played. Which is finding more and more young talent. But teams will also aim for the win. And in that process, I think they will have to go for 5 overseas players in each team. As the teams will also be more in numbers this seems to be a reasonable and good change.

I have to disagree. T10 is not cricket. It is more like baseball. Some people still believe that the duration of T20 (3.5 hrs) is an issue and we should try to complete the matches in 1.5-2.0 hrs time, as the case with other sports such as football and field hockey. But the issue is that cricket matches can't be completed in such short duration, and if we try hard then the matches become meaningless. A lot of the fans are saying that T10 should be the format that should be used if cricket gains entry to Olympics. Here also I would disagree.

@Sithara007 I‘ll back you on this as T20 format is perfect for entertainment, and T10 will be a mess because it’ll end before the entertainment even begins. Lastly you’re right even for Olympics T20 should be preferred over T10 format, and I hope they don’t mess cricket world by advocating T10 format over T20.
