It is foolish to wait for the vaccine. I don't think the Indian government will ever be able to vaccinate all their populations. The Indian cricket board must think of an alternative way. They can wait a while. Maybe in a few months the situation will be normal. Otherwise, the IPL could resume in the states where corona virus infection is low.

The second wave has affected almost all the states. There is not a single state where the situation is good. And even if the infection rate goes down for a while, there is no guarantee that it will not be back to previous levels when the tournament starts. The best solution is to move the tournament to UAE. If they keep the decision pending until the last moment, then it will create difficulties for everyone. And if they want the tournament in India, then I am sure that it will not feature any overseas players.

@Sithara007 the condition in India should improve if more people can be vaccinated, but if that doesn’t happen then BCCI will have to move the IPL and T20 World Cup out of India. Furthermore even if we consider an hypothetical scenario where T20 World Cup is held in India, then too I don’t see any team pulling out because they’ll not want to risk upsetting BCCI.

This is ridiculous. India has so far completely vaccinated around 3% of the population. And you really think that they will be able to vaccinate everyone in the next 3-4 months? And contrary to what you think, the other boards value the lives of their players. They will pull out of the tournament irrespective of whatever pressure tactics put by the BCCI. The BCCI should care more about resuming the IPL, because Ganguly himself told that if they fail to do that, then the BCCI may suffer losses of around 2,500 crore INR.

The BCCI was able to conduct the IPL successfully in the UAE bio bubble last year and we never had any issue and this year when India had its worst second wave of the pandemic the BCCI was confident that they can carry on with the tournament in India itself and they have learned their lessons the hard way, it is better for them to shift the tournament to UAE as nothing will change in the next two months as well.

They are very adamant about both the tournaments (remainder of the IPL and the T20 World Cup). The BCCI want both these tournaments to be conducted in India, despite the obvious risks. Other boards have requested them to shit the tournaments to UAE soon, so the arrangements can be made. But the BCCI have turned down those requests. I am more worried about the T20 World Cup. If the BCCI refuses to move it to the UAE, then teams such as Australia and New Zealand may end up boycotting the tournament.

The BCCI has scheduled a Special General Meeting on 29th, in which hopefully the decision will be taken and there is an ICC meeting on June 1st. There will be more clarity after these.

Have Fun )@@( Stay Safe
All they need to do now is to transport the players safely and make sure that they stick to the security protocols in the UAE bio-bubble. Am pretty sure IPL 2021 will resume after a couple of months though I am not sure about the location.

I wish all the old news were false and we could have a safe resume of PSL in UAE. If this is successful , maybe IPL could also resume in the same place.
This pandemic situation does not let the tournaments to take place properly.  Sad
The ECB have already given their approval to resume PSL in UAE. Check this out.

Here are some links  which shows that it is not certain if the PSL will resume in UAE or not.

Both are old news (1 week earlier). Have you checked any recent news about it? I found a news of today which indicates PSL might resume in UAE. Though we can't say anything surely until they give official announcement about it.

Many of the countries (including the UAE) are witnessing a steep increase in COVID 19 infections recently. Pakistan is also badly hit. Therefore I don't think that the PSL can be resumed during the next 2-3 months. And after this period, the T20 World Cup is scheduled and therefore it becomes even more difficult. Maybe the PCB can wait and watch for the next few weeks to see whether the situation improves. If it doesn't then it will be better to call off the remaining matches.

Where you have seen the news that it won't be possible? From your provided news link I can see that PSL will be resumed in UAE and PCB is waiting for the confirmation. Looks like they will get the confirmation soon and PSL will start from next month at Abu Dhabi. All the players and match officials have to go through 10 day quarantine after landing at UAE. Perhaps, we may see more updates soon.

PSL 2021 Unlikely To Resume In UAE As Country Bans Travel From Pakistan Due To COVID-19
There are a lot of rumors about PSL happening. Many news portals say the PSL will take place in the UAE, while some news portals say the UAE government will not allow the PSL to take place. But so far the Pakistan board has not made any official announcement about the PSL.

There were news that PSL 2021 will be resumed in Dubai but now there are news that it won't be possible. PCB awaits confirmation from ECB on resuming PSL in UAE. Anyone has any update on the proceedings  Roll Eyes I don't understand what's the issue in resuming the remaining tournament in UAE grounds ?

It is not the PCB which is having issue. The UAE government has banned travelers from Pakistan and the other South Asian countries due to the COVID 19 situation there. If the players can't travel to UAE, then how the tournament can be conducted? If the tournament has to move forward, then the UAE government needs to give a waiver to the Pakistani players, which look very unlikely right now.  So I guess the remainder of PSL 2021 may be cancelled.

Is it even possible to represent another country and how did the BCCI gave permission for him to play like that. So my doubt is, is it even possible to add overseas players in Test and ODI teams if they are lacking serious talent because this is the first time i am hearing about this option.
Basically rich countries can create a team and hire players to play for them, that is what it means.

He didn't represented the Scotland national team (which is not possible according to the ICC eligibility laws). He represented their county side called "Scotland Saltires". During the time of Jagmohan Dalmiya, the associate nations were given the opportunity take part in domestic tournaments in test playing nations, so that their quality of the game would improve. Scotland, Ireland and Netherlands were given the opportunity to take part in the 40-overs county championship (similarly Canada and the US played in the West Indies domestic competition, Kenya/Uganda/Namibia in South Africa and Afghanistan played in Pakistan). However, this system ended when Giles Clark became the ECB president and implemented the "Big 3" policy of discouraging globalization of the game.

Never knew this. I always knew that he was a gentleman in the world of Cricket, but this makes me respect him even more. He is a legend who chooses to remain in the shadows since he clearly doesn't crave popularity.
Dravid is a legend of the sport and even after retirement he is helping the young generation develop their cricket and the reason India is having so much young talent is because of the work done by these people in the background.

Personally, I am a defensive player which is why I respected his patient form of batting. Also, he is still a good looking Indian player in my opinion despite his age.
Since you like defensive players you should love Test cricket and i do not have the patience to watch Test matches but only do so when i am in the mood to gamble.

I think the real reason why Kohli won't approve of Dravid is because he is scary  Grin.

This ad was hilarious, CRED team nowadays hitting every ball out of the park. Their other ads are also very funny, like Venkatesh prasad, Srinath, Maninder Singh and Saba Karim in a band.  Grin Grin

When Ganguly, Laxman and Sachin used to perform poorly in overseas conditions, Dravid used to rescue the Indian batting. But still, he got overshadowed by Sachin and Ganguly.
I have seen some good knocks by Dravid in the ODI format in Youtube where he was scoring at good strike rate and i was not watching that much cricket when he was playing but have seen some videos and he was solid.

There is one fact about Dravid that many of the cricket fans don't know. He represented Scotland in the county championship in 2003. At that time, Scotland cricket was struggling with finances and were threatened with expulsion from the county championship. Dravid played for them as an overseas player to make sure that they remain in the county ODI tournament. It was a rare act of kindness from a test nation player towards an associate team.
