Zimbabwe's first mandate scored 60 runs in the power play which means that if the Zimbabwean batsmen had not been dismissed too quickly, Zimbabwe might have had a chance to win. Apart from Marumani 33 runs, and Sikandar Raja 39 runs, no Zimbabwean batsman could touch double digits. These two batsmen are like that and if any batsman could have touched double digits then perhaps Zimbabwe would have had a chance. Zimbabwe's innings was all out with 27 balls to spare i.e. the target of 57 runs could have been achieved in 27 balls if the Zimbabwean batsmen had not been all out.
Pakistan was considered the favourite in this series. The performance of Pakistani players was very erratic. Still, Pakistan was very strong compared to Zimbabwe. Even then, Pakistan unexpectedly lost the first ODI match. The team was able to continue its winning streak in the subsequent matches.
In today's match, Pakistani batsmen gave a decent target of 165 runs. The pitch was not batting friendly. So after Pakistan scored 150+, I was sure that Pakistan was going to win today's match. USman Khan and Tayyab Tahir both scored 39 runs. Irfan Khan played a brilliant innings of 27 runs off 15 balls.
After Zimbabwe lost the wicket of Tadiwanashe Marumani for 77 runs, no other batsman could stay at the crease for long. Sufiyan Muqeem and Abrar Ahmed took three wickets each. Zimbabwe's innings was stopped at 108 runs. Pakistan was able to win the match by 57 runs.
