I don't think that it was a one bad over that made the Afghanistan loss. In fact it was a poor batting performance that lead to this situation. The top order batsmen Rahmanullah Gurbaz , Sediqullah Atal and Mohammad Ishaq weren't able to make runs. The middle order batsmen played well to reach to a 140+ total but if these top order players had scored good too, then Afganistan could have managed to reach a total of 160 runs.

Afghanistan have a strong bowling attack and that is the reason they can defend even small totals. However, it is always better to make more than over par targets, so that the other team find it more difficult to chase.

As zimbabwe batting and wicket keeping was at its best in this match, afghanistan disappointment was that they failed to take wickets. Initially, there was a lot of pressure on the bowling side of afghanistan due to which they could not stop the run side. Zimbabwe had the home advantage working for them. On top of that, nowadays batsmen have learnt how to deal with the Afghan spinners, such as Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan. This is the reason why Naveen-ul-Haq picked three wickets yesterday and Mujeeb went wicketless in four overs. Anyway, Afghanistan has two more matches, so there is a good chance that they can bounce back. Also, let's not downplay the contribution from Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani. In such close matches, we cannot blame the loser team because the match could have gone either way. It was just not the Afghanistan day. Also it is hard on the players too that after giving full stretched performance, they lose by a one run margin.

Both teams should look for the short comings in this match. Afghanistan opening wasn’t so strong in the beginning but later in the middle order they played well. Karim Janat scored 50 and Mohammad Nabi was also able to make 44 runs. But Afghanistan would ideally want the runs from the top order batsmen. A lot was expected from Rahmanullah Gurbaz but he failed to deliver.

Well, it was an entertaining match to watch and it went right down to the end. I thought Afghanistan would defend those 11 runs. Musekiwa hit four on the first ball of the over and it eased the pressure. After that Musekiwa played with mind and got two's and one on the next five balls and eventually took Zimbabwe home.

Azmatullah Omarzai bowled well but nothing could be done at that stage. A wicket would have helped him and Afghanistan but it was not his day. I think Afghanistan will call themselves unlucky in this game but i am sure they will come back strongly in the next game.
