The way Mumbai started their innings, I don't think they will lose this match. LSG collected only 35 runs in 6 overs of the powerplay, while Mumbai collected 58 runs without losing a wicket. After 10 overs, LSG collected only 68 runs. Mumbai's collection was 92 runs. But even then there was a slump in Mumbai's batting. Mumbai collected only 1 run in the 13th over. This is one of the reasons for Mumbai's defeat. Despite having plenty of experienced batsmen in the squad, Mumbai lost the match by just 5 runs. Nehal Wadhera got out after collecting only 16 runs off 20 balls. Batting like that stupidly makes it difficult to win the match.
It is very disappointing that they lost this match after starting so well. If only one person is responsible for the defeat of this match, if other players of the team could have played with responsibility then it would not have been very difficult for Mumbai Indians to win this match.

Where Mumbai Indians collected 92 runs in the first 10 overs, this team failed to score only 80 runs in the next 10 overs.

Cameron Green at Rs 17.50 Cr underperformed. As he is the most expensive player of Mumbai Indians, there will always be high expectations of Mumbai Indians from him but he could not live up to those expectations of Mumbai Indians.

In the last over where 11 runs were needed to win, Cameron Green managed to score only two runs from four balls. I would say that mainly because of Cameron Green's failure, Mumbai Indians lost this match.

Nehal Wadhera, Vishnu Vinod and Suryakumar Yadav struggled against the spinners (Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya). In a match where the required run rate was over 9 runs per over, 8 overs from these two bowlers only saw 53 runs being scored. And Bishnoi took the important wickets of Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma. Captaincy from Krunal Pandya was exceptional. He made the bowling changes at the right time, with the right bowler. Apart from the 19th over (which was bowled by Naveen-ul-Haq), Krunal's tactics worked perfectly well.

I agree with you. Krunal Pandya's captaincy in this match was excellent. He has been able to use the right bowler at the right time. And because of the controlled bowling by the bowlers, LSG was able to win. Despite having T20 specialist batsmen like Tim Dawid and Sam Curran at the crease, Mumbai could not win this match. Full credit must go to LSG's bowlers for this. Marcus Stoinis also batted well in this match. He played an unbeaten innings of 89 runs off just 47 balls. Stoinis performed brilliantly at the moment when the team needed it.

The 178-run target looked like a target of 200-plus runs for MI. The last two overs by LSG and the failure of SKY, according to me, were the reasons why MI lost to LSG. The last over by Mohsin Khan was outstanding. Tim David and Cameron Green were a big disappointment whereas Marcus Stoinis and Pandya were the reasons why LSG was able to get 178 runs on a tough pitch for batting.
MI is the same team who used to make totals of 200 plus against quality opponents. And they were on the right track yesterday. When Ishan Kishan got out, they were at 103/2 after 11.1 overs. At this point, they needed just 75 runs from 8.5 overs, with 8 wickets to spare. But then their downfall started. First Suryakumar Yadav, and then Nehal Wadhera wasted a lot of deliveries. And then it reached a point where the required run rate shot up to 12 runs per over. Some big hits from Tim David brought down the RRR, but then the last over disaster sunk them.

LSG and MI are side by side everywhere, they are side by side in the points table and their wins and losses are by just a few runs in the game.  LSG won the match by just 6 runs. LSG put in a poor performance in the first innings and lost three quick wickets in the first innings but Australian player Marcus Stoinis and Indian player Krunal Pandya played well in the LSG team.  But the most credit for winning the match goes to their hired foreign player Marcus Stoinis who scored a single-handed 89 off 47 balls.

Agreed, the team that were able to reach 100 runs in the 11th over unable to score another 77 runs in 56 balls is really poor batting performance. Simple, the team is much depending on few players. I haven't gone into the statistics, but in most of the Matches in which Suryakumar Yadav played well is a win for Mumbai Indians. Today even with the best batsmen on the crease and unable to win scoring 11 runs in the last over is a big disappointment for the Mumbai Indians team supporters.

Mumbai failed to do the most basic thing in the last match. They should have made sure that Tim David gets the strike for a maximum number of deliveries. But the opposite happened. In the last over, he got to face just 1 out of the 6 balls. David was in fine form, and in the 19th over (which was bowled by Naveen-ul-Haq) he managed to score 19 runs. If he faced Mohsin Khan during the last over instead of Cameroon Green, then Mumbai would have won the match easily. But a lot of things went wrong for Mumbai in the last 4 overs, beginning with the decision to send Vishnu Vinod ahead of Green and Jordan.

Gujarat Titans are the only team confirmed for the playoffs leaving the second spot up for grabs. The excitement lies in the uncertainty of which team will secure that coveted spot.
My random prediction is that MI will lose against LSG today even though they look like they can chase down any score while CSK will win the next match and claim the second spot later on.

The remaining two spots will be taken by LSG and RCB. MI will probably get screwed thanks to RCB coming from behind.
I will 100% blame the poor batting performance behind Mumbai Indians' defeat in today's match. In particular, Mumbai Indians scored only 3 runs in the 12th over, only 1 run in the 13th over, only 6 runs in the 16th over, only 9 runs in the 18th over despite getting several extra runs including a no ball, only 5 runs in the 20th over Collected which was enough for Mumbai Indians to lose the match. Here Cameron Green comes towards the end and scores only 4 runs from six balls and he does not score any runs from multiple balls. I will only blame him for the defeat of Mumbai Indians.

what an brilliant finish to the Lucknow innings because at one stage it felt like that MI would easily win the match but what an incredible turnaround by Lucknow. Furthermore MI have started their innings solidly and they’re now 47 runs at the end of 5 overs and they haven’t lost a single wicket too thus it suddenly feels that MI will now win easily.
Stonis' amazing hitting skills bring back LSG in this crucial match, and they have good target of 178, but MI batting line-up is very strong and start from Ishan Kishen and Rohit Sharma give them control in this game which will give them second spot into league table with most chances no problem for staying here.

Last three overs of LSG were really game changer for them because before these overs mostly feeling they will be able to have target around 140 to 145, but 54 runs from 18 balls completely change match momentum but bad for them now MI batting is also on fire and now allowing bowlers to have any easy time as they are hitting all around the ground and scoring freely for the win.

Mumbai Indians are most likely to win today's match and they chose Fieldy to bat. With so much time already passed, the position of the game suggests that LSG will not be able to score too many runs in today's match. And in today's match Mumbai Indians are bowling well especially Jason Behrenorff he has already taken two wickets. Today's match is very important for both the teams and whoever wins will have a chance to go to the knock out stage. And Mumbai Indians have the most chances to go to the knock out stage. In today's match, the way LSG is batting, they will not be able to collect many runs. At the moment, their team score is 11 over, 78 runs and 3 wickets.
Yes Mumbai Indians are doing well in bowling. Lucknow Super Giants can keep the team batsmen under pressure then Lucknow Super Giants will not be able to give the target of many runs. Lucknow Super Giants team has lost 3 wickets so far. Lucknow Super Giants team batsmen still if the wickets  If they can hold on and play, there will be a possibility of 160 in this match. However, if Lucknow Super Giants can give a target of 160 runs, the match between the two teams will be a tough fight.

The match between Lucknow and MI has been a real nail-biter so far. Lucknow has managed to put up an incredible total of 177 after down at 123/3 in just 17 overs. And can we talk about Marcus Stoinis' performance? Absolutely, today his batting is nothing short of sensational and this knock will go down in IPL history as one of the best.

MI bowlers did miss their length several times towards the end. It's definitely a challenging total to chase and from MI side need someone to step up and deliver an equally special performance if they want to win this game.

The match start wasn't good for Lucknow Super Giants as they had few early wickets. From there krunal played in the right way and stood wicket and walked to the pavilion as retired hurt. Stoinis continued his game and took the LSG to a solid score of 177 runs by the end of 20 overs. It looked little fighting match for Mumbai Indians, but looking at the way of scoring Mumbai Indians will easily reach the target. Already Ishan Kishan have crossed 50 runs and Rohit Sharma played better than other matches scoring 37 runs. Already 100 runs reached in the 11th over seems to be an easy winning for Mumbai Indians.

Lucknow Super Giants got off to a rough start but later scored massive runs. But Mumbai Indians could not make up for Iran and lost the points.  Then came close with a massive four sixes at Mumbai Indians but lost by a narrow margin. This is a huge loss for Mumbai Indians as they are at a huge disadvantage for this match if the points are close to the table position.
Usually Mumbai Indians have done well in the last matches but coming into this match they lost a little bit. But in the end they have to perform better to survive.

No prediction can be made with certainty in cricket, anything unexpected can happen on a 22 yard pitch in cricket.
It's totally unpredictable match because both team delivered more than his best, Lucknow top order were full off colour but middle order delivered some special they scored around 54 runs in last 3 overs and I think that the game changing moments because through these power hitting they got momentum and scored 177. While the Mumbai indian start were really significant compared to opponent start but later the way Thier middle order exposed were really disappointed because their star player Green and David not even chased 10 runs in last over. But credit of this victory goes to mohsin Khan for Thier sunsational last over bowling which were the main reason of Thier victory.

Just wow!! Well done Mohsin, an excellent exhibition of death bowling tonight.
Mumbai Indians missed out on an easy win. After scoring 19 runs in the 19th over, Mumbai Indians failed to score just 11 runs in the 20th over. In other words, Mumbai Indians needed 11 runs to win in the last over.

Mohsin Khan bowled brilliantly in the last over. The yorker manages to bowl three balls out of six deliveries. Because of his great bowling in the last over, LSG is still dreaming of the playoffs. If they can win the last match, LSG will definitely qualify for the playoffs. If for some reason LSG can't win the last match, they still have a chance to make it to the playoffs.

Congratulations to LSG for pulling off a great win in an important match.
Yeah agree, they should have win this match but have to acknowledge the bowlers of lucknow.

I only watched the last 6 overs and I was under the impression that Mumbai will just walk through over them as they were in a comfortable position.

~snip~

Bishnoi, Khan and Stoinis are the ones who won this for Lucknow. MI are in trouble now because teams like RCB etc could steal their spot in the playoffs.
Playoff calculation just got spicy for top teams now let's wait for SRH, Punjab or other lower rank teams to win their remaining matches.

Won't mind if it comes down to run rate.

It was a good prediction, i was expecting Mumbai to chase down the score but after Suryakumar Yadav lost his wicket the hopes were lost but then they turned around and they only needed 11 runs to win in the final over but Mohsin Khan bowled an incredible final over restricting them without any loose balls and gave just 5 runs to sneak the victory away from Mumbai.

Just wow!! Well done Mohsin, an excellent exhibition of death bowling tonight.
I was stunned to see him give away only 5 freaking runs against players like David and Green in the final over. Wow! It looked like Tim would help his team cross the line towards the end, but he messed up by rotating the strike.

What a bowling from Moshin Khan. At the final over with 10 runs required from 6 balls, and unable to reach the target by players like Cameroon Green and Tim David is really great thing from the bowler. The best part, Mumbai Indians scored 19 runs in the previous over, which means they're in good position to score runs. Anyhow the win is important for LSG at the moment and keeps Mumbai Indians in trouble till the final match gets over.

I am no fan of Lucknow but jeez this is some quality death bowling, not an easy job when it's a pressure matchup against good batting lineup.

2 big guys are batting for Mumbai and they are international players so there might be some chance for them but Lucknow's bowlers deserve some credits here.
