Even if they win, that doesn't matter much. This is a sub-regional qualifier. Whomever wins this tournament, need to play another regional qualifier to get entry to the T20 World Cup. Malaysia has won this particular tournament and has advanced to the regional final. And a total of 8 teams will participate in the regional final, and out of that only two teams will qualify for the world cup (in all probability, it is going to be Nepal and either Oman or United Arab Emirates). BTW, the Africa qualifier is going to be interesting as well. Namibia and Zimbabwe should be able to qualify from there.

Malaysia is showing good performance in this tournament so far. So I genuinely expect them to at least give a good fight to the teams that they are going to face later. Of course, the probability is against Malaysia. Thailand was the second most dominating team in this competition. And Malaysia beat them like nothing. So I think people can actually hope for good performance from them going forward.

From the Africa qualifier, I don’t know who the other team is going to be at. I am sure that Zimbabwe is going to be one team to qualify for sure. Unless we have some absurd things happen like what happened with the Netherlands and West Indies.

Currently Malaysia and Thailand leading the table with three wins and zero losses. Both of them are playing really well. Both of them has played three matches each end. All the other teams have played for matches. Bhutan has two wins and two losses. China has one win and three losses. Myanmar has played for matches and did not win even a single one.

The next match is going to be very important. Malaysia is going to play against Thailand. Both of them are at the top of the standings. It will be interesting to see which team will win. which ever team wins in this match is going to have a big advantage. I think the team winning this match is not going to drop down from the first place.

Initially to have a better position able countries use the imported players and when the country itself is able to produce good Cricketers we can see players from India, Pakistan and neighbouring countries playing for other nations. Once a person have made himself the citizen of the nation by birth or through his professional stay duration the person can't be stated as imported player. Right now T20 format cricket is the only hope for long term, maybe thats the reason to include more new teams to keep cricketing happen around the world.

I am certainly hoping to see some good upset matches being made in this World Cup. remember when the last time a lot of teams competed in the World Cup? It was the 2007 ODI World Cup. And a lot of things that are really weak in power were actually able to beat some very powerful teams in the World Cup. So I am expecting something like that to happen in this World Cup as well. I am not saying every match is going to be competitive.

I think we all know that in any match that the USA team is going to play, it’s basically going to be a free win for The other team. But it will certainly be interesting if a team like Scotland or some associate team actually ends up beating a team like India or England. I also want to say that for a long time, we have been seeing not enough number of teams in the World Cup. At least that is being fixed. So let’s just not complain about it and see what happens.

Well actually, it is good to see the ICC at least making a World Cup with 20 teams. Personally, I concur with the notion that designating the United States as the host nation is truly their sole avenue for World Cup qualification. I think this World Cup is going to be played by 20 teams for two reasons.

First of all look who is getting a free pass to the World Cup. If it was anything less than 20 teams in the World Cup, a lot of teams were going to miss out who are actually far better than USA in cricket. I still think that somethings are better compared to the USA who are not playing in the World Cup, but that’s another story.

Secondly, the World Cup is being played in the USA. So making the World Cup more competitive and one of the biggest is certainly going to bring in a good amount of money.

I know that we have actually discussed the issue before. But I also know that this is going to be discussed as long as the ICC does not take any actual serious actions against it. It does not matter how the fund is getting distributed. A team, a national team simply cannot have foreign players in the squad at all.

If ICC actually did something about having lots of foreign players in the national team, I believe a lot of countries could have already found native players who are actually talented. But ICC is not going to do that are they?
