I think it's not good that India lost today. Not good for their morale. Remember this is sort of India backup team which is playing and we are testing our bench strength, not being able to chase a target of meagre 149 obviously isn't something you want. I think bad start in batting really pushed India out of match slowly and slowly, also there was no support from any other batsmen than Tilak.
IMO when you are testing your bench strength and second string team then there is no need to panic. It's 5 T-20 match series so plenty of time to bounce back.
Also, it wasn't a one sided affair but yeah if Windies really dominate this Indian side in the upcoming matches then ofc we can talk about the morale and other stuff.
There is nothing to panic as it is the testing phase. However a team with such strong batting unit unable to reach the target of 149 runs is really disappointing. Though it is a 5 match series, one more win coming from West Indies will keep the India team under added pressure in the rest of the matches. This itself down the performance of the players. India has taken the match playfully and once again they'll learn as the ODI series and at the final matches they'll play very carefully.
You are right but usually, this series with the Team West Indies should be considered as easy one and India should take it seriously. Let's suppose, India lost the 2nd T20 match also then it will be too much pressure for them to win the last three consecutive T20 matches or else the series loss will be at risk.
Also, if you need to experiment a lot, better do it once you have to grab the series, so you have nothing to lose. Losing the first match of the 5-match T20 series is not a good sign.
Maybe BCCI is experimenting with this squad. Even so, it cannot be said that this Indian squad is inexperienced. At least the players in this Indian squad are more experienced than the West Indies players. Still, they are not playing well against West Indies.
Had West Indies been in good form, I would not have regretted India's defeat. West Indies are in very bad form now, the performance of the players is not regular. Still, India is not winning.
Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill played well in the ODI format, but did not play well in yesterday's match. Indian management has included Tilak Verma in this match. And he was the most inexperienced and young player in the squad. Interestingly, Tilak Verma scored the highest runs of the Indian squad in this match. So it cannot be said that India has lost because it has experimented. The performance of Indian players is very irregular now.
