To stake any POS of 'value' market capwise it takes lots of research and investing $$$ to buy a 'stake' that stakes.

And any and all POS coins require work.  Time and effort is required.  (itemized list above)

---

I've said it before, and will say again TALK is one of few clients that I can stake and still use the PC.  Most staking clients require full use of the mem and cpu.

So in theory all market traded POS will eventually be only staked by miners that spend the time, effort, and money to run a dedicated node.  That's a known commodity ... about $5/month ... plus it takes labor ... say 5 hrs per month ($75) ... if you pencil cost to mine any coin in the future:

$80/month*wild guess
(does not include the SEED money invest to acquire a stakeable unit)
(( so POS will be just like POW except mineable via common hardware instead of exotic/complex/EXPENSIVE hardware ))
(((( so POS is much more 'egalitarian' )))

There is no free lunch any more in POS Wink
You got to earn your coins.

Here's an ad thread for Rimbit ... Bitcoins greatest asset has gone forever! https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoins-greatest-asset-has-gone-forever-1520050 ... I'm not supporting Rim ... but I do support this opinion that 'promise' of mass distribution network/coin is a good idea and POS offer a return to that ethic.
---

"What is not earned is not appreciated. "

If I had to guess the understanding/meaning ...  POW require competitive trails and reward the strongest ... which has turned full scale industrial ... the reward goes to the elite few able to invest millions into mining operations.

POS can be staked on simple under $50 devices.  Burn little electricity.  (so they are an obvious enemy to the POW model).

So yes coins like MINT, RDD, and BLK made a few guys sorta rich with instant mine tokens turning to gold.   Then 100s of copy cats followed suit ... that BOON has been over since 2014.

The BUST is still on going.  And the new scam is ICO, which is 100% absolute premine garbage.

I think there will be a 2nd wave of POS launches in the aftermath of this ICO idiocy.

And I hope that the 2014-2015 'survivor' POS coins lead the field.

What is not earned is not appreciated.  This is why proof of stake is fundamentally broken.  It attempts to create something for nothing.

At least in proof-of-work someone needs to be doing the work, even if its just a solo processor mining

  pure bullshit.
anyone who thinks staking coins is labor free is someone who has not bothered to try staking, imo

example:
1. decrypt cold storage and open blockchain folder
2. copy folder to C:/appdata/roaming (after unhiding hidden folders/files)
3. start wallet
    a. (sometimes/fairly often) find out wallet needs to be upgraded
    b. no connections so you need search bitcointalk to get a nodes list and edit the .conf
4. endure low cpu availability for a long time while the wallet syncs
5. endure stupid popup notifications for even longer
6. reap the benefits
7. stop the wallet
8. backup the wallet to several devices
9. decrypt cold storage and move the roaming folder back
10. rinse, & repeat

All I know is you cannot do a proof of stakes without resorting to premine
is it possible to do a full pos without a premine..

What is not earned is not appreciated.  This is why proof of stake is fundamentally broken.  It attempts to create something for nothing.

agree/disagree

longer POW phase (+12 months)
seem legit enough.

BLK is clear king of the realm with the ninja and many have copied that model.

but the POW/POS hybrids that are still ticking with (+12 months) stand to benefit well.  i like schemes like T3K, but too 'hyper'.  HTML5 held promise but has weird premine hidden.  DMD has an awesome original algo, but has been tinkered with and now features 'elite' wallets or whatever.

The coolest cat in the building is CBX, but still struggling, despite being +3yrs old and POW/POS hybrid.

I know this is water under bridge but I want to let clear I had never heard of TALK before, my inspiration for the thread was the welcome page at forbes: http://www.forbes.com/forbes/welcome/

anyway, thanks for supporting the idea and good luck with TALK.

perhaps worthy of consideration, NTC or NineElevenTruthcoin.

Pure PoS there is PoW, (networkkhashps 324,037,712), but the reward is small, i forget exactly, i think 1 or 5. current money supply: 135,083,774, PoS rate 110%.

i do remember the ANN, it said that it was "created by/for a small group of european investors", and that is just about all the info i have, as the ANN has been gone for some time, and i havn't seen anything else.

tradable on Cryptopia

and when it comes to trouncing the corporate buzzards, nothing like a dash of 9-11 truth! (except no one wants to lsten)

also staking mediccoin, yes please add it

Some truth here.  I personally think it takes a few years to approach non-noob status.  CryptoLand is not yet predictable enough for noobs to come into the system competent like in other worlds - you gotta learn what you don't know first as well as get a sampling of the scams. You have to be left holding the bag at least once to earn your stripes - just make sure its a small bag. Don't mortgage the house to buy crypto-currencies. Please.

No one gives two shits what you say.

Does this need to be explained ?
Do you NEED a giant mass of text rant telling you the obvious ?

BitcoinNational, I'm keeping in contact with Yobit. They asked for TALK blockchain and I sent it to them 2 days ago. Hopefully this is gonna work out.
And yes once the wallet is synced it's running and staking great non-stop.

SO admins from yobit told that their wallet got stuck probably because of the fork. And they suggested us add the checkpoints to the blockchain to prevent this from happening. Anyone here is knowledgeable enough to do that?

no .. waiting on a dev to come forth.

but guess what if you close the client, and then restart the client (what is shitcoin 101) then no problems.
TALK has been downloaded with no bootstrap(did it in May), and it can be downloaded with no bootstrap.

In fact, in terms of memory resource ... TALK is midfield for POS coins, if not better ... once in sync the client it runs smooth for days/weeks ... and does not bog a system down ... unlike 70% of the field of POS.

With this post I motion to get a cryptopia listing:
 1.  Hex & Company we appreciate your exchange, and would like to join.
 2.  Yes TALK is not a perfect chain but it works, granted that it has sufficient nodes, and an A-list block explorer, plus it is +2 years old.
 3.  We are looking to pay in DOTs but would like clearance, and clarification prior to moving on a paid vote.
 4.  Yobit, LOL ... couldn't even install UNO ... amateurs/thieves ... take your pick.
