Daniil Medvedev - Stefanos Tsitsipas

without a doubt that this will be a great game between two big names in the world of tennis and will be a very disputed game, Medvedev who currently occupies position number 3 in the ranking has never reached the final of clay competition, he will strive to be victorious in this game, but his opponent Stefanos Tsitsipas who currently occupies the number 5 position in the ATP ranking comes into this game as the favorite to win and it is not for less the surface of Clay is the strong point of Tsitsipas, so I also think that Tsitsipas will leave this game with victory, although I will not bet on this game, I still see Tsitsipas winning

There is a lot of history between these two players, the head-to-head over 11 matches
is Medvedev 7-4 Tsitsipas. Its going to be close  and Medvedev this season has shown
massive improvements on Clay. I'm going with a Medvedev win!

Holger Rune - Casper Ruud

Rune, who currently occupies the number 7 position in the ATP ranking, comes to this game very motivated, he is in his best form and he was a surprise when he managed to reach another semifinal of a tournament, and this season he won the ATP Munich for the second consecutive time, he also managed to reach the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo and has just defeated Novak Djokovic who is the number one player in the world, it is undeniable how rune is going through a good moment, although his opponent Ruud is a very strong opponent who currently occupies the number 4 position in the ATP ranking I see Rune coming out with victory in this game

This is a tough one to call, Rune is growing stronger almost with every tournament,
if he can win today he sets out a massive warning to everyone for RG.

Ruud favours the Clay courts but has been under the radar this season really and comes
into the match as underdog, he is definitely capable of creating an upset though.

Ruud v Rune

If we take a look at H2H the stats are yelling RUUD. It's 4:0 in favor of the Norwegian. On the other hand Ruud is not in his best condition atm. Last time they met at RG in 2022 and it was an exhausting 3 set match. Before that encounter Ruud managed to defeat the Dane in straight sets every time. Rune is younger, more athletic and hungry for a win. This one is going to be tight. I won't be betting on this one.

Medvedev v Tsitsipas

Tsitsipas is in great shape now, but the question is: will the Greek manage to defeat his inner opponent? Psychology is one the main factors and Medvedev showed that he is great at it. It's fun to watch how he opposes the crowd and gains strength from that. Stefanos on the other hand, frequently lacks consistency due to psychological issues. So my bet: Medvedev.

Medvedev surprisingly playing really good now on clay and i think that he might finally win a tournament. But he is playing against Tsitsipas that is good on clay and this will be an intresting matchup because they dont like each other. But still i think Medvedev can still make a shock and win this tournament.
In this match I am not sure that Medvedev can win.
But for this match it will be very exciting and of course the two players will try to beat each other to be able to advance to the next round.
Tsitsipas himself is also a pretty good tennis player and he even has quite a few championship titles.
I'm sure it will be a pretty hot match.
Precisely the stake I rely on Tsitsipas.

Italian open women's final is between Rybakina and Kalinina. It was an easy win(6-2 6-4) for Rybakina against Ostapenko in the semifinals to reach the finals. In the other match it was Kudemtrova vs Kalinina, who is ranked 30. Tough fighting game between the Russian and the Ukranian. At the end it was Kalinina to win the match 7-5 5-7 6-2 and she dedicated the win to the homeland Ukraine. Rybakina is in good form and I'm sure the title gonna be won by her.

The love for tennis never ends. This we can see with the senior players. What for they want to be on the court is getting into reality. Most of the young players who were dominating the present era of tennis were hard fans and inspired by the seniors.

This is the right time to start spending time with family. Whether they retire or continue to play, certain players will never be forgotten. In particular these players were the heroes for the 90's kids, because watching them only majority could've come to know about tennis.

It's time for him to invest the money that he earned from tennis somewhere else. I don't know if he has any big business or not. If he wants to be an owner of a business it is going to be a great idea. But if he wants to be an investor it is also going to work out great. His body has been through a lot. We can already see him going through a lot of injuries as he has become really old.

I absolutely agree that it is time for him to chill with his family and make money using his name as a brand. Still, it is not going to be easy for him to retire.

I believe that Rafael Nadal does already have a decent work-life balance. He hasn't been playing tournaments year round for quite a while now. He played up to 80 or 90 matches per year in the past, but this has now dropped below 40 to 50 and in 2022 he played 47 matches. In 2021 it was 29 matches, but it also had to do with the pandemic. This year his injury or injuries must be very stubborn as he already withdrew from nine tournaments and it is counting. I guess when Nadal withdraws from the French Open, that means a lot about his physical condition.

Looking at one of the semi-finalists is Rune not that surprised as Djokovic will always have a hard time beating this young player and so it proved

Today there will be a match between Daniil Medvedev, the former ATP world number one, against Yannick Hanfmann.
From this match I will risk a win for Daniil Medvedev.

Hanfmann is indeed not as popular as the other tennis players who still compete in the quarterfinals of this tournament, but Medvedev has to be careful with him, even though the bookmakers favor Medvedev very much compared to this opponent, but Hanfmann is quite difficult for his opponents. His game is not as attractive as Alcaraz, Sinner or Rune but His focused service and ball placement, which was quite difficult for his opponents to reach, was his capital so he could reach the quarter-finals because he was not the seed and was not really taken into account here being able to beat the two seeded players Fritz and Rublev as well as the host player Cecchinato, who at that time the audience was not by his side, is a record that Medvedev must pay close attention to Hanfmann has a chance to beat Medvedev or at least give him a hard time early in the match so a 3-set match is very likely.

And hope that another quarterfinal between Coric vs Tsitsipas will be very tight, even though Tsitsipas can make it to the final at Barcelona but I don't see him in his best form because then he can only reach the quarterfinals in Madrid and Coric who is also unstable has a chance to beat him, sometimes he can play very well and can frustrate his opponent, if Coric plays well he will have a chance to advance to semi-finals and fight the winner between Medvedev vs Hanfmann.
Medvedev played very well, even the points he got were difficult for Hanfmann to catch up with.
I won the bet mate and Medvedev also advanced to the semifinals against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
It's a little difficult to determine which of them will win the semifinal match later.
But I think Medvedev still has a chance to reach the final.

TBH I'm not surprised by Nadal's announcement. On not playing RG - that was really on
the cards because he hasnt been able to prepare by playing Madrid or Rome.
On retirement - it was inevitable, just goes to show again when approaching the end of
a career injuries feature a lot.
He also hinted at not playing a full season in 2024, he wants to play the tournaments
which were special for him.
Saw a video recently in which it seemed as if the legs are still not in condition to endure a high level tournament. He was holding his knees and barely moving while his team surrounded him to comfort him. Not a good look for his future in Tennis. Hopefully he stays healthy next season.
Nadal and Murray are at their best years back and now it is the young generation dominance. It is really hard to give competence against them. It is good to announce retirement and start to coach the new ones into tennis. After certain age it is common to see players getting injured often, and lets hope for the recovery at the earliest. These players won't be forgotten easily, because through them only majority have known about tennis.

It is actually not a surprise to anyone to be honest. We could see his career coming to an end. He is still on the court just for the love of tennis. He is also going to retire very soon. He has done a lot for this sport. He is still doing his most effective in the sport that he loves.

It is a lot more understandable why he is facing so many injuries. He was certainly one of the best in the sport. One by one all the legends of this game are retiring. The time of Rafael Nadal is also very close. He should retire to stay healthy.

Hanfmann did not have much to offer to Medvedev. But it was a great achievement for him to get this far. I am curious to see how he will play the next tournaments.
You are right this time Medvedev was stunning, even though it was not easy for him to get every game because there was a lot to go through the deuces but he managed everything well.
Hanfmann's this german player form is better than Zverev if he keeps up with it maybe he will be a tough opponent for the top players in Roland Garros.

So the two semifinals will face each other Medvedev vs Tsitsipas and Ruud vs Rune.
Tsitsipas and Rune are the favorites to advance to the finals by overcoming these opponents, but Ruud has a very good Head To Head when facing Rune by winning 4 times and everything happened on clay, so Rune won't be easy to win against players who senior than him, and so is Tsitsipas even though he is more superior but seeing Medvedev's appearance, who this time looks more solid in his game, it would be possible to be eliminated, but these two semifinal matches are difficult to predict because all four players have the same chance to get to the final.

In the semifinals of the women's section, all four players are the seeded players, with Swiatek already eliminated who withdrew due to injury against Rybakina, I think this will be the next wta 1000 title for the Kazakhstan player but will be the first major title for the other three if one of the them that became champions except for Ostapenko who had won at Roland Garros but her career did not look so good after winning there.

Breaking! Bad news from the King of Clay: Rafa pulls out of Roland Garros:

Quote
Rafael Nadal held a press conference at his Academy on Thursday where the 22-time Grand Slam champion announced he will be unable to defend his French Open title at Roland Garros due to ongoing hip injury; the Spaniard also announced 2024 is likely to be his last year before retiring

So no RG this year for Rafa unfortunately and 15th RG title will have to wait until 2024!   Sad

Well he is injured for a long time already and is better to wait until he is at least 95% recovered. This injury is hurting him for years already but now i hope that he can play at least one year. He should get ready for that 2024 and go strong at it one final time

I am quite astounded that injuries are not all that regulated in the sporting world as I previously imagined...

What I mean is that obviously the serious players will want to do anything to keep playing, even if it kills them or permanently damages their bodies. But I think 100% recovery is the minimum which should demanded of an previously injured player. That way they would have to focus on healing instead of playing through the pain.

Honestly I would not be to keen on betting on someone who's body could break down at any moment because they are playing by the edge of the teeth, all the while trying to ignore the pain...

I guess in any sports though, worst is like in boxing or combat sports wherein after a fight, you might not just get injured or permanently damage, but your opponents could kill you and there are a lot throughout boxing's history.

So for tennis maybe there are players who are willing to risk and play even if they are not 100% healthy. Or even if they are fully healed, they might not be the same tennis player anymore, like Andy Murray. He has several injuries and operations and he try to make a comeback but his body is no longer there and not cooperating. So even if you are 100% recovered, doesn't mean that you can get back to your previous version prior to injuries.

95% sounds like much but it isn't. Nadal doesn't want to play only 95% of a tournament and then suffer from his injury again when he possibly reaches the final. We have seen in the past that he had to give up for health reasons. He wants to avoid that as much as possible.

It seems that he also implied in an interview that 2024 could be the last season he is now looking forward to. But when you see how much he is still suffering despite the huge break he took, I don't think it is very likely that he will return ever. He is even missing Wimbledon. Sad

This is not good news for the tennis world. One can imagine how difficult it must be for a tennis player of his class to realise that his body can no longer cope. He should not have too much hope that he will be among the best again after a long break.
