After easily defeating Sinner, Alcaraz tore through Medvedev as well. He hasn't lost a single set in Indian Wells, making him the strongest favorite to win in Miami as well.

If Đoković does not stop him this season, I feel that nothing will.
Alcaraz seems to be back to performing good, and this match was against the former number 1 in atp ranking, Alcaraz didn't even give a chance for Medvedev to break his serve, Alcaraz dominated the whole match, and gave Medvedev no hope to comeback, stunning performance from Alcaraz but not convincing one from Medvedev, it was a one sided final.

I watched the first set, VERY impressive performance, really on top of his game
and pretty much back to form for him. I did a cheeky bet on Medvedev being slight
underdog @2.05 - half way through the first set I jund of knew my bet was dead.

On that performance and throughout the tournament its hard to see anyone even Djokovic
stopping him.

And with that win he goes back to the #1 spot!

The Women's Final have come to an end. Elena Rybakina have won against the leading Sabalenka in direct sets. First set went very close as the winner of the set happened through the tie breaker. The points reached 713-611. Elena turned to be the first player to win against the World No.1 & 2 on semi final and finals to win the title.

If these points count, Elena could move up from her 10th position and reaches 3rd next to Swiatek and Sabalenka. This win makes it to be her first WTA 1000 title. The words out of her after the match is really good. This is the first time things went her way, hoping for more finals.
Rybakina's performance has been quite impressive since last year after winning Wimbledon but not yet being a women tennis player to be reckoned with seeing how Swiatek has dominated in recent years but when she was able to beat Swiatek in the semifinals of the Australian Open she became one to be reckoned with and it was quite surprising to see Rybakina able to beat Sabalenka, because seeing H2H Rybakina always had trouble winning but this time she was able to beat her opponent to become a champion

Alcaraz vs Medvedev, Alcaraz immediately broke his opponent's serve at the start. This is an advantage for him to immediately take the lead, it looks like the first set will be his, and the second set will be an opportunity for Medvedev to be able to make this match into 3 sets and will try to keep pressing Alcaraz to became the champion, but so far Alcaraz is playing well

Isn't it extraordinary how good Alcaraz is now after his injury in November 2022? Normally it takes a few weeks or even months to get back into shape, but the Spaniard immediately won his first tournament on his return and now he is doing well again. It's almost April now, the clay court season is more interesting because we're going to see much longer rallies there and everyone wants to crown the work at the French Open in Paris. How would the bookies feel about Nadal in that tournament right now? I think they will wait and see how he does in the coming weeks and months. He's only just started up again and has been out for a while. Age also plays a major role, of course.

well Alcaraz is 18 years old player.
I think that anyone at 18 years old was pretty sane and able to recover much much more easily Wink

Nadal is not the strong player that we have seen some years ago. I am sorry to say that but unless a miracle it's really hard he is able to compete as the "golden times"... but anyway he is a player insidious so let's see what happens...

I thought the match between Alcaraz and Sinner would have gone to 3 sets, maybe
if he won the tie break in the first.

Sinner is definitely improving but has a bit to go, I'm a big fan of his and looking forward
to when he wins a 1000 or GS.

In the other semi final which I actually saw, Medvedev was fairly impressive, he managed
to take Tiafoe's game away, its really hard to call the final between the two.

Sinner is improving his tennis. Alcaraz even if he is younger than the Italian is playing always at strong level.
But Sinner in the future he will do great things, it's just a matter of time.
I don't say this just because he is from my country but precisely because he is truly promising, humble, a born sportsman!
Against Medvedev, for Alcaraz is not easy at all make any prediction, but in any case it could be another beautiful match to watch.

The final showdown today - WTA final Rybakina v Sabalenka, ATP final Medvedev v Alcaraz.

Medvedev and Alcaraz met only once at Wimbledon in 2021 and Medvedev won back then in 3 sets. Indian Wells courts are rumored to be quite slow so that would be an advantage for the Spaniard if compared to a much faster grass courts at Wimbledon. I'd say the outcome will depend on how much remaining energy Medvedev has got. But his chances are pretty high.

Rybakina had played Sabalenka 4 times and all 4 matches had been won by the Belarussian so a real tough challenge for Elena today. Nevertheless, my bet would be on Rybakina as she's in top form now and hungry to win the title.

Can't wait for the matches to start!   Cool

nice match between Sinner and Alcaraz. As Italian I can't hide a little disappoint about Sinner loss (and also for not playing third set Sad ) Personally, I have avoided any bet on the match just because it's really hard to predict the outcome and both are performing very well.
With this Match Alcaraz has win 3 times vs 2 times of Sinner!
Probably this will be some epic battle of the future like Sampras/Agassi - Nadal/Federer Roll Eyes etc...

I also expected this match to go to at least three sets. Looking at the first set I thought that's exactly what is going to happen. But in the end, it was only a two sets match. The number one seed, Alcaraz did well to make sure that this match does not get to the third set.

Medvedev also won both sets one after another. I personally am not very surprised that this match did not get to the third set.
The final is going to be very competitive. No way the final is going to be only two sets, right?

Meanwhile another Italian Berrettini is performing really bad Sad He has loss on Phoneix challenger.
Well, it can become something interesting to follow since he is "always" favorite but actually the performance is not at top level.

Alcaraz was the winner of this match. He performed better. The first set was pretty close, that's it. There was a feeling that it could turn out either way. But the second set was quite a convincing win for Alcaraz. I did say he was going to win. But that was not a very convincing call from me as expected. This match was supposed to be very close and I cannot say that this did not live up to the expectation. But at the same time, I cannot agree that it was overly exciting for a neutral fan.

The second semi-final between Alcaraz and Sinner have begun. These two can't just stop winning and the same is happening from the beginning of the match. Consecutive points have come out of them with an early break point from Alcaraz. First set point to be decided through tie breaker, as both are 6-6. An interesting match to watch which is taking place in Royal Style.

Semifinals match Medvedev and Tiafoe is getting close to the final result. The match had fighting first set and won by Medvedev 7-5. The second set is levelled 5-5 and now Medvedev have taken lead 6-5 and moved to the tie breaker as points got levelled 6-6. Finally good comeback from Tiafoe, and he couldn't convert it winning point. It was 77-64 in the second set and Medvedev reaches the finals.

Swiatek once again disappointed as Ryabakina won the semi finals on the direct set 6-2 6-2. On the other Semifinals it was Sabalenka to beat Sakkari on direct sets 6-2 6-2. Finals to be played between Ryabakina and Sabalenka.

In any case, Nadal has announced that he will make his comeback on the tennis tour. Perhaps we can expect another revival of that. They sometimes say in sports that you have to stop at your peak, but Nadal has had that for a long time, of course. My suspicion is that he would like to show how good he still is at the French open, and say goodbye to the tennis world with a title. However, it will not be that easy, perhaps Alcaraz is the best player on Gravel at the moment. It may still be a long way off, but the clay court season has already started in most countries, hasn't it? And in some countries there is no playing on clay at all. I would like to see Nadal - Alcaraz again to see how that would go in that match.

In the women's section, Iga Swiatek lost in the semi-finals to Rybakina, this was her second consecutive defeat to her opponent and in the finals Rybakina will face Sabalenka after she managed to beat Sakkari in two sets. In the final this will be the fifth meeting for the two players and Sabalenka won all of these meetings, but this will still be an interesting match even though Sabalenka is more favored and a 3-set match is very likely.
I watched Swiatek v Rybakina and I have to say Iga had no chance whatsoever. Rybakina was perfect, definitely her best match in Indian Wells (and perhaps best match this year so far). The final, well tricky one. Sabalenka has a great record vs Rybakina but she has already satisfied her title hunger by winning the AO final. Rybakina on the other hand, is in top condition and hungry for revenge. 50:50 but I think I'll just gamble and say Rybakina.

ATP is going to put on a show with Medvedev v Tiafoe today. Although everybody would say Medvedev I'm not so sure. As I have mentioned here in this thread already I'm a bit worried about Daniil's physical condition after winning 3 titles in a row. His body can let him down any time. I won't be betting on this match.
Just 77 minutes and five services breaks by Rybakina who stunned World No 1 Swiatek in semifinal of the WTA - SINGLES Indian Wells to face Sabalenka in final of this event what a performance by this 23 years old Kazakh girl to give third shocking defeat in just three months. Now both players are surely hungry for the win and their preparation for the next big event prediction is not easy because both are doing amazing stuff but here I have feeling Sabalenka is going to win this title because she is looking more aggressive and better for the title.

For the ATP look like Medvedev vs Alcaraz is set for the final as now we have few minutes left in first semifinal which is going to play between Medvedev vs Tiafoe the Medvedev is clearly favorite as he is at his best for this match and for the final where he is going to face another exciting player.

World number one Novak Djokovic has failed in his bid to play at next week's Miami Open after being denied entry to the United States.
The 22-time Grand Slam winner, 35, had applied for special permission to enter the US because he is not vaccinated against Covid-19.
The US requires international visitors to be vaccinated and proof will be required until at least 10 April.

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/64997434

So, Djokovic failed to get an exception for now and will not be able to compete in the tournament in Miami.
However, there is obviously a possibility that the rules for entering America will change after April 10, which would allow Djokovic to play at the end of August in the tournament that is much more important for him, the US Open.
In a similar way, he managed to enter Australia this year, after a change of government and a political decision, after being deported from Australia last year.
In America, the majority in the US Congress has changed and the Republicans want to abolish the rules on Covid, which may be a chance for Djokovic again.

Going with over games is good choice and for sure the match moves to the third set for sure. Both the young players fighting to reach the finals is gonna be a big match. Both were at their best and I wish to watch tie breaker between the two, Sinner have reached semifinals defeating the defending champion Fritz in the quarter finals which gives him good confidence. Alcaraz have recorded the first win against Auger Aliassime and reached the semifinals. Let's see what happens between the two.

From the two men's semifinal matches that will be the most anticipated matches are Alcaraz vs Sinner, both players played very well in this tournament so it's really hard to predict who will win but Alcaraz is the favorite and it looks like he will win the game to go to the final later, and I agree it will be a 3 set match for them. Meanwhile, in the other semifinals, it seems that Medvedev very far superior from Tiafoe, but if the injury he got in the previous match bothered him, it would very likely disrupt his concentration so he could lose this match, but under normal circumstances, will be difficult to beat him.
