I am not easily concerned about Djokovic's health. And corona now also seems to have largely disappeared from the face of the earth. This means that we no longer have to work with certain vaccinations. That would be very beneficial for Djokovic, as I don't think he will be vaccinated again. So if Corona comes back, we can be pretty sure that Djokovic will be banned from certain tournaments again. Own choice and own responsibility of course. But he has an exemplary role and has made quite a mess.

It's too soon to be talking about 2024, all of the 2023 season still has to be played and
anything can happen in 12 months.
Our top picks for 2023 could pick up an injury and be out for 6 months and then factor in the
journey back to being fit, particularly in the case of Djokovic who has been fairly injury free but
at this stage is not the youngest competitor.
Of course it is still very early and of course a lot can happen before the Olympic Games. But the next year is important precisely for that reason how Djokovic will develop at the clay court. He has to perform much better than Ruud and Rune. But of course they can also get injured and not be able to play tennis for a long time. We have seen it with Zverev how quickly an injury can happen and what problems can occur during the healing process.

I hope that Novak Djokovic will be able to stay healthy. 2024 is still a long way away. It will be challenging for a player like him to stay fit while he is trying to improve because he has a very disciplined work ethic. He will have to be very careful not to pick up an injury. So far there are no health issues with him as far as I know. I think that the change in his diet that he made towards the end of 2022 is going to work well for his health. More protein is always slated to increase the raw power in anyone’s body.

Injuries were a big problem with Tennis, most of the time this happens when the player is at his peak performance. This completely slows down his performance taking long break and coming back after recovery. Once again starts from the bottom. Very few keeps up the performance strong same as the days before the injury.

There will be the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. Tennis will be played at the Roland Garros Stadium. Djokovic has not yet won a gold medal at the Olympic Games. His greatest success was the bronze medal in Beijing after losing the semi-final to Zverev. It will probably be the last chance for Djokovic as he will already be 36 in 2024. He will also be playing against younger opponents like Ruud and Rune who are very comfortable on clay court.

The Australian Open will start soon. It will be a while until 2023, but Djokovic will still be very keen to achieve a good result here. He was not allowed to participate in the last edition. I don't know what exactly has changed in the rules. Alcaraz is the number 1 in the world, but I don't see him as the top favorite for the title in Melbourne. Djokovic is placed 5th, but in his situation that does not say much. It is remarkable that Medvedev has dropped quite a few places in the world rankings, he can now be found in 7th place in the current rankings.

looking at the dates when the Australian Open starts, I don't see it as a very distant date, on the contrary it is very close, I particularly think that Djokovic needs to prepare a lot during this period because many good tennis players are appearing, and he can no longer you can afford to relax if you want to win anything, the rapid evolution of many tennis players is frightening, and even predicting a game becomes very difficult because one sees a renowned tennis player and thinks: I will bet on this renowned tennis player who will win the game , but at the end of the game the renowned tennis player loses the game, for me Djokovic has to work hard if he wants to achieve something in this tournament
In the past the odds for Djokovic will be low in his matches and we can easily pick it. Now scenario is different with the emergence of good number of players that compete good. It makes the match outcome unpredictable. Amidst his age, he keeps his momentum with regular wins which isn't possible with players of similar age. Most of the players who are at the lead are very young and that makes Djokovic put additional effort to stand against them, though he is good with tricks and experience.

Please don't forget Tennis over a 5 set match is VERY different than over 3 sets. The
psychological strength of players really comes into play. It has been said before that Tennis
is not just about skills and fitness, it's all about the mental conditioning of a player. We have
seen before where Djokovic has been 2 sets down in a GS and has come back to dominate
and win the final three!

On Djokovic' side there is self belief in these situations and on the other side many opponents
will have fear and doubt. Djokovic' experience, skills, fitness and self belief will win!

Wawrinka still showing good quality tennis even at this age and we can expect more from him in the next 1-2 years max.

Yes, he still shows good tennis. But I am not sure how much longer his body will keep up.

In any case, the final is Medvedev versus Fritz. Fritz had some problems with Norrie and could only win the semifinal in the third set in a tiebreak 10:6. Medvedev now has every chance of winning the tournament again, just like in 2019.
It seems medvedev was not able to resist fritz who has been in peak shape since the Finals it seems that he gained the experience and has the talent he is really dangerous especially in hard courts i will keep an eye on him next year i think he will get some good results.

Based on the track record of Djokovic, anyone will easily say him to be the champion. This will gradually change, as more young players are making themselves better with time. The position keeps varying, but the gameplay improvement is the factor that decide the outcome of the match. A good list of players can be picked now, Alcaraz, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Fritz, Zverev, Berrettini etc. When matches played between these players we can have the odds closer but we can't easily predict the outcome of the match.

You are right @safari88 and I think that even though Alcaraz is number one right now, he might not be able to win the next Australian Open. And she simply has been a little too inconsistent in recent times despite being the number one player in tennis. I really wish that Novak Djokovic could play in the last edition. Due to the fact that he has not been able to play in the last edition of the Australian Open, he will be very much determined to prove that he is a serious contender to win the Australian Open this time around.

Yes, I have said that Alcaraz is not the hottest player entering the next Australian Open. But at the same time, we will have to remember why he is number one right now. He might not be the favorite to win the Australian Open, but he is also not very far away from that conversation as well.

Like i said Fritz for me is the favorite and i won my bet because Fritz won in straight sets. Even tho it was in two tie breaks he still won as expected. Wawrinka is like Murray they win in first two three rounds and that is it for them. They wont win any titles as far as i see at this age
As said the age factor surely have its role. Though the older ones were well experienced than the young one's, it is hard for them to make shots precisely as that of the young players does. Finally more young players are coming out and the competence over the falling tournaments will be high. Medvedev managed to do good, but unexpected errors stopped him from winning the trophy. Finally Diriyah Cup have given exposure to Saudi Arabia players.

I also agree that Wawrinka he’s not going to win titles because as far as they go in the tournament, the competition is going to be much more better for them. At this age, it is hard for players like him and Murray to keep up with that competition. And also, if we look at the players that they will be facing going deep into any tournament right now, we will see that are going to be much younger than them. Hard for an old player to beat players like Alcatraz.

Yes I also agree, players like Alcaraz, Rune, Sinner, Ruud and Medvedev for example will
only be getting stronger each year.

Wawrinka will be happy to be back playing and competing, in the case of Murray who actually
believes he is a contender to win tournaments I wonder if Wawrinka believes the same for
himself? and how strong that belief will be at the end of 2023 for both players?

That is true Wawrinka aint 20 years old anymore so his body wont hold on for long. Fritz for me is the favorite because of his good serve and i think Medvedev will need to work very hard but if his defence is at his best he can take the win. Probobly a close match but i got Fritz in it

Medvedev did win the final against Fritz in 2019. But time has changed since then. I can see that almost every betting site is heavily favoring Medvedev to win this match.

In Stake, the odds are 2.5-1.5  in favor of Medvedev if I am not wrong. But I actually think that this match is going to be very close. Honestly, I am not very confident about Fritz winning this match. But I think he will be able to give a very good fight to his opponent.

Wawrinka Is going to be 38 very soon. I don't think he will be able to continue playing well for a longer period of time anymore. I expect a drop in his performance in a year or two.

And yes, Fritz won the final in 2 tie breaks, good call Joca97. In fairness to Fritz, he
has been performing well in the second half of the season and Medvedev has been ~so so~.

That's a very nice End of Season for Fritz, let's see how he goes in 2024, he will be on
my watch list for sure!
