So Tsitsipas is out already, as we have discussed earlier, it seems his game is going down this year, perhaps his mentally on his lost in Cincinnati still lingers on his mind.

If you have followed me in this thread, I'm a fan of Tsitsipas but recently said he is on a decline and so I never put money on him and it's good that I didn't because he lost in the very first round.

Sinner though was extended to 5 sets by D. Altmaier, lost the first set, but he come back strong in the next two sets and then drilled him in the final set. Coric also escape with a win, same case, he was extended to fifth set by E. Couacaud and almost lost, the score is 6-4.

Right now, we have a few very interesting matches in progress with V Williams are struggling in first round match against Belgium's Van Uytvanck lost first set by score of 6 - 1 and now in second set have score of 3 - 2 in William's favor. In another match Petkovic is doing much better than expectations against Olympics gold medalist Bencic after losing first set won second one and now in third both are working hard to win match.

In men's event, right now two Croatians are doing good Clic is leading match by 2 - 0 and Coric after having good start few days back now here won first set and now having tiebreaker in second set Rublev is also after losing one set now have led by 2 - 1 with good position in third set.

Venus Williams lost the second set also with 7-6 so she is out of the tournament. I am wondering if she will also announce her retirement; why not retire together with Serena; would be a nice goodbye for the homecrowd?

There is no doubt that Alcaraz is a better player. But will he be able to defeat Rafael Nadal is something to be seen?
Yes, but when you look at these players and when they were 32, did you think they would be battling at this level at age 36? These guys are just from another star. Many people say there will be another Rafael Nadal and so on, but when? These are just marks that have historic value. It's so crazy that it is hard to imagine that some will ever beat that.
The players who people were expecting to be the next Rafael Nadal aren't in the most favorable of situations right now. As a matter of fact, Rafael Nadal actually ended up outlasting them all in the end. Despite being 36 years old, he is still playing a very good game. It is impossible for anyone to underestimate Rafael Nadal in any way. His age does not make him obsolete. Compared to a lot of younger players, he is still performing much better.

Andrea Petkovic will end her career. She will only play the US Open and then it is over. The reason is that she keeps having too many injuries. Maybe she will play a small tournament in Europe as a farewell. Today she will play against the Olympic champion Belinda Bencic.
I do not think her next match will be easy since she has been injured quite often during these years. So I don’t think she is able to carry on for a long period of time. It does seem like she is really nearing the end of her career. And honestly, I also do not expect too much from her at this stage. Because in my mind she will not be able to deliver what she could previously.

-8.5 for Alcaraz might be still a good one though @aoluain? still at 1.68 so still a value bet at ML. But probably have to bet a even money to get a good returns.

I'm also looking at Sinner vs Altmaier, good to include in a parlay.

Tsitsipas loses his match against Galan in 4 sets. Lost the first set 6-0! What's going on with Tsitsipas? he was one of the favs to win the tournament and he goes down to world no. 94 in the opening round. Halep lost in the opening round as well. Quite a few upsets on Day 1.

Wow, I really expected wins by both Tsitsipas and Halep, Tsitsipas reaching the final of Cincinnati,
we would have expected the form to continue,  Same with Halep, winning the Canadian Open this
month we would have expected at the very least a first round win.

Luckily I didnt bet on them
At times matches go completely against the expectation. Tsitsipas is on a winning track and everyone believed he would make good progress. Rather than any other sports, it is good to make bets against the odds suggested by the gambling houses. There is more chance of making a win, because many match results will have similar outcomes in the upcoming days.

@romero121 I kinda agree to your statement, because in the past we knew that Federer would win, then came Nadal and Djokovic era where they would win most of their matches and thus wagering on Tennis matches were easy to do, however the current generation is very unpredictable and wagering small amounts against them is not a bad suggestion.

However people should not wager big on unknown player’s to cause upsets, and they should apply the basic rule i.e. to study both the opponent and see if the underdog has any potential of causing an upset like we witnessed in Tsitsipas match.

I agree somewhat but its very difficult to forsee these upsets although I think it happened
before to me with Sinner and probably Tsitsipas last year at some stage and I learned my
lesson then!

Alcaraz plays today against Baez and obviously its not worth betting on Alcaraz as the odds
are so low, I can take Baez +8.5 which is appealing @2.13, Alcaraz can have lull's in matches so
it might be worth a bet.

Taking his age into account I would say this is also one of his last tournaments.

Also let's see how far Kyrgios is going to make it Wink

yeah, pitty for Wawrinka to be early out, but obviously he had some injuries lately, and taking age into consideration, it was a bit expected

Kyrgios could make it far, but it all depends on his head, focus on a pitch is simply not his thing

looking at Medvedev, he started well, but it was a first round and really unknown and fairly unmotivated opponent

This Grand Slam marks the end of an era for one of the biggest stars in Tennis, Serena Williams
is playing her last tournament and is on court in a couple of hours against Danka Kovinic.

Its sad in a way but nothing lasts forever except her legacy, soon it will be turn of Nadal, Murray,
Djokovic and officially Federer.

I wonder how far Serena will be able to get. If she manages to survive a couple of rounds and can play her last match against one of the new top young players, it would be a nice goodbye. It would be a bit sad to see her loose against a "nobody".

Well she won that match anyway in 2 sets 6-3, 6-3 as expected probably.

Everything is of course quite normal, but one guy is pretty interesting here: Stan Wawrinka. He has always been some phenomenon to me. He had some outstanding tournaments, also against Djokovic in some semi-finals and finals, but he really dropped down the list. He never was one of these extremely skilled guys, but he made it competitive purely due to his fighting spirit. Taking his age into account I would say this is also one of his last tournaments.

Big disappointment for Tsitsipas getting out on the very first match playing against Galán placed at 94th position. Tsitsipas made a comeback, but he wasn't able to win the fourth set of the match. Andy Murray makes the straight set wins as expected. Since 2017 Grand Slam it is the first time Andy Murray have made a straight set win in a match.

I'm watching Fritz playing against Holt right now and Fritz lost a serve and holt is leading 4-2, keep in mind that this is the first official ATP match for Holt so I don't think he will will keep the same pace with no experience, Fritz to win the first set is a good bet I think @2.48

It seems that dominic thiem is having a huge trouble to get back some of his former shape he is losing badly to carreno busta in the us open he lost the first set and he is going to lose the second one 6 1, it seems that being away from competition for more than a year did some numbers on him.
Carreno Busta is always a tough opponent to play against, especially in a Slam. Thiem has started the 3rd set on the right foot as he managed to break Busta twice already while being broken once. Leads the 3rd set 4-2. Just needs to hold a couple of service games and guarantee himself some fighting chance in the match.
In every match Carreño Busta gives his best. Carreño Busta have managed to make his regular game. Thiem gave made a comeback in the third set. For now the match is going to be more interesting, but the physical condition of players always make unexpected outcomes. This time most of the matches seems to have similar fightback.
