I too like his play, being an all-rounder is far better than being a specialist in one area,
like some players who kind of rely on a superior service game.

True, but how many, serve specialists, for example, are there on tour right now? Frankly, I can't think of any! There were Karlovic, Isner, Opelka but what about now? The same goes to serve & volley specialists (McEnroy, Pat Rafter) I suspect there are none. Modern tennis is getting more universal, you have to adapt to stay competitive.

...
This is brilliant for Jannik to be reaching #3 in the rankings, ok Medvedev is taking a break but
we all know Jannik deserves that position.
De Minaur is the player that normally Sinner has for the double. Italian guy know very well him and as I have reported De Minaur has never been able to won a single set against him! this is not a minor aspect in my opinion.  Yes finals are differents but Sinner was in a great shape.

Alex de Minaur lost against Michelsen and that happened in only two sets. I thought Alex should have done better in this match.
Maybe he is a little tired after playing the final against Sinner on the 18th of February. But still, I believe he should have done much better.

By the way, I do not know if he has picked up any injury or not. Did he? I have not heard anything about an injury.
I am just a little concerned watching his performance because it is pretty unlike him. I worry that he might have some problems.

If I recall correctly odds for Michelsen were 3.65, people who put their faith in Michelsen grabbed a huge winning... Cool

If I'm not mistaken, this Mensik guy has already disappointed #1 seed Rublev in a quarterfinal? He has also eliminated Andy Murray earlier in the same tournament. Not sure if he has a chance against Khachanov though. The in-form Russian has improved a lot this year and is ready for top 10, perhaps even top 5.

Kalinskaya will definitely win in Dubai, if she won't get injured. Paolini has much less fuel left in her tank.
Mensik the Czech teenager got into the draw by using his protected next gen's 1 direct entry into a 1000 event. He chose Qatar as it's the only event that gives out free iPad to all the participants Cheesy. Now, he finds himself into the finals of it against Khachanov. Watched Mansik play against Rublev and his style is more of an all rounder. He will try to get every ball back into play and keep the rally going until the opponent makes an error. Which disturbed Rublev's rhythm to hit flat-out winners while he's not in the best of form. Khachanov who has more spin to his forehand and a consistent backhand relies on point construction, rather than trying to powerhit the opponent into making unforced errors. Should be a good contest but I think Khachanov should be winning this. Good showing from both the players so far though. Should be an entertaining contest.
Regarding Kalinskaya, I wouldn't call it a definite win but she does look better. A lot of people have underestimated Paolini and been surprised by her consistency. Paolini has won a WTA title and been a finalist too. She shouldn't feel the nerves as much as Kalinskaya as this isn't uncharted territory for her.

Yes it was a great result from Mensik to beat Monfils, The Frenchman was having a
good tournament. Mensik faces a bigger challenge IMO today in the final which has
started, his odds are now 3.0, I think he is worth a small bet! Small bet only because
Khachanov is seeded number 2. This is a massive game for the young Czech, a
dream start to his season.

I too like his play, being an all-rounder is far better than being a specialist in one area,

Meanwhile in Los Cabos, Zverev lost his semi-final match against Jordan Thompson 7:5, 4:6, 7:6. It was a very spectacular match, very close. Long rallies prevailed and the Aussie was winning most of them. Zverev's serve wasn't working as it should. In the tie-breaker, Zverev won the first point by breaking Thompson's serve but that was it: next 6 points were lost making it 1:6. Thompson won the tie-break eventually and will be playing Ruud in the final tomorrow.
.

Man, Zverev still struggling to get a good tournament together.. Those are the games he should win if he wants to climb back in to the top 5.
I don't know why he so often has problems with his serve lately.
Just checked the stats and he only won 59% of the points (70/119) on serve, that's grim.
On hard surface a player of his caliber really should do better!! 5 aces on 119 points is also quite low I think. Having seen plenty of matched by him I always though he serve can be a real weapon and he should be hard to break.
But facing 12 break points in 17 service games is quite a high number.

Maybe Thompson is just a good return player, I am not sure. But I never had him on the radar in this regard.

Watched Ostapenko vs Kalinskaya today. Gotta watch out for Kalinskaya more often as she looked solid in rallies as well as serve. An upset by beating an ex-Grandslam Champion, who's been having a fairly consistent season. If the draw is favourable, Kalinskaya could reach quarters or semis at least.
Don't tell me that I didn't warn y'all. Kalinskaya beat Iga to reach the finals and will face another surprising Finalist Paolini, who will break into the top 20 in the WTA rankings for the first time in her career. My money is on Kalinskaya to win the finals. She's hitting really well and can move fairly well.
Paolini has a better ranking than Kalinskaya but is not more favored in this final, and between the two, Kalinskaya has been more tested, at least before the final, having beaten two top players, while Paolini slightly benefited from the illness of Rybakina, who had a walkover in the quarterfinals.
I agree with you in choosing Kalinskaya in this final, she played very well and this year her career would have been even better if no injuries had bothered her, and beating Swiatek was a surprise and the number one player looked frustrated in that semis match.

ATP Doha, young Czech tennis player made a surprise by reaching his first final, Jakup Mensik beat French player Gael Monfils in a three set match this was an interesting match and will face Khachanov.

Tsitsipas lost to Ruud in a two set battle, this time Ruud played very well because usually he will have difficulty facing top players, the other final is still waiting for the results of Zverev vs Thompson, the first set is still going quite tough because no one can take this set.

It's unbelievable! I guess nobody could have predicted the final between Kalinskaya and Paolini. So many big names: Sabalenka, Swiatek, Rybakina, Gauff but all of them got eliminated on the way to the final. Nice opportunity for Kalinskaya: she could enter top 30 if she wins the title.

Yes a bit of an unbelievable final line up alright and interesting actually, if you
were to bet on that its very hard to pick a winner although Kalinskaya is favourite at
1.50 and Paolini is 2.60.

Kalinskaya to beat Swiatek would have been a great price I suspect. Iga as the number
1 ranked player and top seed does that regularly in your aments, lose when she really
shouldnt be losing.

Just watching Mensik v Monfils ATM, third set on serve, interesting to see who will
meet Khachanov in the final...

The semi-finals will take place in Mexico at Saturday. Zverev against Thompson and Ruud against Tsitsipas. Zverev is the favourite in the first semi-final. But I would not underestimate Thompson, although he has had difficulties in his previous matches.
In the other semi-final there is no clear favourite. Both have won their previous matches, although Tsitsipas having a tie-break in the first set against Kovacevic. It is difficult to say who will win this semi-final between the two of them.
Zverev will clearly be the favorite in the semifinal match against Thompson and just look at how Zverev goes through every match with win, he is also tennis player who has managed to win 4 ATP tour singles titles.
We also know that Thompson is player who is persistent enough in every match to reach the semifinals now but he will not be able to beat Zverev.
Even though Thompson may can be able to face every difficulty in the future against Zverev, there is still no chance for him to win.

In contrast to Tsitsipas against Ruud, where it will seem more difficult to determine who will win and advance to the final, these two players have quite good playing quality.
They have also won various titles or awards in various competitions so we will see how the competition will be really fierce.
However, if I personally were in match between Tsitsipas and Ruud, I would be more inclined to make Ruud the favorite.

In the final match, if Zverev meets Ruud then we will see much more interesting match, and if this meeting really happens it could lead to sensational final match.

Kalinskaya is on a winning streak, she eliminated Coco Gauff today in three sets: 2:6, 6:4, 6:2.

Another surprise is Rybakina withdrawing from her match v Paolini. But if we look into it, it's not much of a surprise anymore: Elena is playing 3rd consecutive tournament. She played 2 finals in a row: one of them she won, the other one lost. But anyhow, it's a sold performance from the Kazakh she probably was too tired to play on.

Just reporting in on the ATP Doha,

Bit of an update and a bit of an upset today in the quarter final stage between Rublev and Mensik,
It was a two setter where Mensik beat the top seed. I'm not sure what odds Mensik was before
the match but he had to have been a good price.

Humbert was also up against Fils today and lost. The veteran French man is going really well here
and now plays the "Giant Killer" Mensik in the semi final tomorrow, thats a tough call to bet on IMO.

The second semi final is Popyrin v Khachanov - wont be betting on that one.

...
Odds today on ROLLBIT are Sinner 1.23 v 4.30 de Minaur. Is the Australian that much
of an outsider? I dont think so TBH.

Meanwhile Alcaraz isn't the same player that we have seen up to know. I am really curious to see his performance in Indian Wells.... hoping that he will solve his physical issuess.

ah yes they are really good friends.

Alcaraz has said that ATM he recons Sinner to be the best player , it all bodes well for Jannik
and unfortunately Alcaraz is not going well ATM.

I thought Ostapenko would make it to the quarterfinals and have a chance to meet Swiatek in the semifinals but because as you said Kalinskaya played well and eliminated the Latvian player to meet Cocco Gauff in the quarterfinals who managed to stop Pliskova's 11-match winning streak.
Swiatek doesn't seem to have experienced any problems in this tournament, unlike Rybakina who had to play three sets against Frech.

Alcaraz walkover against Moteiro makes ATP Rio no more interesting than ATP Los Cabos because there are more top players like Zverev, Tsitsipas and Ruud and all three advanced to the quarterfinals and also have a great chance to the semifinals, and Tsitsipas as the defending champion is certainly motivated to defend this title especially his current ranking is already outside the top 10.

Yes, Kalinskaya is a very talented player but she is also very prone to injuries. Every tournament she played lately where she has progressed to later stages, she had to withdraw because of an injury or some other health issue: Rome, Beijing, Miami, Wimbledon and that's just last year! I agree, she has huge potential, as long as she stays healthy!

I have bet rarely on tennis but I wanted to try a lot of games with odds of 1.10 and below in many different parlays and almost all of them were lost tickets. How come the bookies risk so big by giving these high odds to the opponents of the favorites, from what I have seen if we place single bets tickets to each one of these guys and some of them win we also win,how come such a strange situation in this type of sport.

I would say because most of the time or the vast majority of the time players, particularly
on the ATP side  with odds around 1.10 win!

A lot of people betting on the ATP wont bet on players with odds lower than 1.25, others
here can correct me.

Also IMO from what I have learned if I'm doing a parlay I keep the amount of bets
to a minimum, around 3. Obviously the more you add the higher the risk and the higher
the reward.

I have found that the WTA is more unpredictable.
