Big congratulations to Daniil Medvedev on his first victory in Grand Slam tournaments! Medvedev played an incredible match, was confident in himself during all three sets, only at the first matchballs he began to worry and made double mistakes, but he pulled himself together and still won the match on his next serve. Medvedev became the first tennis player in 10 years to win the US Open after losing only one set during the entire tournament. It is also necessary to note Djokovic, who reached the final, but we must admit that the Serbian does not manage to finish the season. At first, the Olympics in singles and pairs were lost, and Novak did not even play the final in mixed doubles and Novak missed the chance to take the Golden slam. There was still hope for a calendar Grand Slam, but Medvedev, with his brilliant game, deprived him of this chance.

It was an incredible game, though to watch Djokovic to lose but it happens. Fans were different, it's all emotions ups and downs all game. Djokovic cried before the game finished, you don't witness something like that in major sports.
Medvedev deserved this win and his first grand slam championship. It was a nice fairytale but Djokovic couldn't complete calendar grand slam. He's still the greatest of all time though, as Medvedev said. Everybody know next year Nole will win one more grand slam and be the only tennis player who win 21 grand slams.

What a very nervous last game in the last set for Medvedev, he finished it
out in the end, 6-4, 6-4 and 6-4.

I think everyone expected Djokovic to cone back after each set but his 1st serve
wasnt working and looked overall lack lustre.

Delighted for one of my favourite players though, I had him to take one set thats all.

Djokovic just lost the first set against Medvedev with 6-4. Maybe he can recover once again as he done a lot of times this tournament. I only placed one bet: over 38.5 games. Didn't dare to place a bet on Medvedev to win but personally I hope that he will be able to do it and win his first grandslam
and he just lost the 2nd one too, Djokovic towin is @4 right now, it is the right time to bet on him, I think it's either going to end 3-0 or an insane comeback from Novak, an affordable amount to lose is good to bet with, what do guys think ?
Edit: Medvedev just broke djokovic's serve in the 3rd set but you know what, i still believe in Novak, betting on the third set now.

another edit: and another break from Medvedev, now it's done for sure, it was a nice try.

I did not think that the finals would be this much one sided. Leylah tried her best, but maybe this just was not her day.

I don't really think it was that one-sided. Leylah was very competitive, and a threat throughout. Raducanu played better, yes, but even at 6-4 5-3, Leylah was still in it with a break point. If she'd won that point, we'd have been back on serve and potentially heading for a third set. The quality throughout from both players was just phenomenal, as if they'd been playing these sorts of matches for years.

And that statistics is so awesome that she has played more matches in this tournament than her whole career. So proud of this little dynamite of a tennis player.

It's fantastic, yes. Us Brits have been starved of top level tennis players, we've only really had Andy Murray, and it's so nice to see another winning a major. And it's great that she has mixed ethnicity, Romanian and Chinese parents. And similar for Leylah, who is another top talent, Filipino and Ecuadorean parents, and representing Canada. Seeing stars emerge with this sort of background helps to reduce racism and xenophobia.

sho won in straight sets too, and with that win she is the first qualifier to win a grand slam, that is insane, and also it's been more than 40 years since a British woman won a singles grand slam, she came out of nowhere and won, the odds where for sure really high at the beginning but who would have thought.
There was always a lot of expectation that she would have a good career, to the level where she would get seeded for the big tournaments, and maybe, potentially, even challenge for one... but that was supposed to be years down the line, after patiently building her game and her experience so that she could go from being a great junior to a fully seasoned professional. It wasn't supposed to happen now, in only her second proper tournament!
Go to the US Open website, and look at her history. Prior to this tournament, she has played 6 WTA level matches in her career. She's not just won the US Open in straight sets, but she's played more matches at the US Open this year than in the entire rest of her career so far!
It was a great match from both of them, I think they should both be near the top of the game for years to come. Astonishing.

To be more specific, it's been 44 years since  a British woman won a singles grand slam. Incredible. I did not think that the finals would be this much one sided. Leylah tried her best, but maybe this just was not her day. And that statistics is so awesome that she has played more matches in this tournament than her whole career. Djokovic said that this match is the most important match of his career. If he wins this, he will have won US, Australian, French Open, and Wimbledon in the same year. This would make Djokovic give his heart out for the match. I'm hoping he will win it.

I do wonder how players at this level manage to sustain their motivation, when they've already won everything so many times already. Obviously this current target for Djokovic is a huge one, but after that, what is left? Only the Olympics, and that is years away. Is it possible that if he wins this match, then he will start to drop away from the top of the game?

Medvedev has already had a chance to win the GS but failed, mostly due to a lack of calm and concentration in the crucial moments of the match.
The big three of world tennis are probably not that much better than the rest of the tennis competition, but unlike other tennis players Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have the necessary psychological stability and self-confidence and that helps them in the decisive moments of big matches at GS.
As I said before, this match is probably the most important in Djokovic’s great tennis career and he will do anything to win.

^ If you consider Djokovic vs Medvedev on a head-to-head basis, Djokovic won 5 times where Medvedev won only 3. And the form Djokovic is now on is insane. Djokovic said that this match is the most important match of his career. If he wins this, he will have won US, Australian, French Open, and Wimbledon in the same year. This would make Djokovic give his heart out for the match. I'm hoping he will win it.

I caught 3.10 odds on Medvedev, I know that betting against Đoković is rarely a good idea but I feel that the odds are completely out of place here. This bet has huge value IMO, and handicaps start from 7,5 - no way Đoković is such a clear favorite against an in-form Medvedev.
That odds will get even better as the time of the match gets closer. I can now play it on sportsbet @3.25 and they usually don't heave the best odds without boost, when I apply the boost it gets to nice @3.45 and I expect to get supper boost on it during the day. Should be odds @4 before I take them Smiley
As you said immense value, even though I never like playing against Djokovic.
Medvedev to take at least one set is also at very respectful @1.45 and that one seems like free money to me, just searching for another match to add to the ticket to boost it over 2.

No way that I will be betting on Medvedev. Yes I admit that he is in great form and he has already upset Djokovic in the Olympics but I have a really strong feeling that even though the match would be close, Djokovic will win it. There's no telling that he is one of the best if not the best tennis player right now. And I prefer to go for safe gambles, so Djokovic is it for me.

In fact, Djokovic lost to Zverev at the Olympics, not Medvedev.

It's over now, Raducanu win in straight sets, her mental strength at her age is just amazing.
Congrat to Raducanu, she creates a lot of achievements. She is one of the young girls who won the grand slam after Sharapova and the one from English who won for grand slam since 1977. She got many congratulations from Royal Family, I think she will be got much recognition for his country.
I'm Wait for the final men's singles, Djokovic vs Medvedev. and, I'm from this year watching grand slam, I hear the news on last year (US Open 2020) he (Djokovic) got disqualified, what happen?

You know, Djokovic was disqualified in the 2020 US Open for hitting the ball at a line judge out of frustration. Although he apologized after that, but that was very unsportsmanlike behaviour from a player of his calibre and quality, and huge congratulations to Raducanu. She destroyed Leylah Fernandez in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, and she is only 18! Really, she is going to have a bright future ahead.

Happy for either to win, they have given us great entertainment and Satoshi's
in our wallets but for Raducanu $2,400,000 prize money is a very nice pay day.
soon there will be many well-known brands that will give her contracts and and the money she generates will increase, we all know tennis is one sport that if can succeed will give a lot of money for the players.

@BALIK, Zverev who beat Djokovic at the Olympics and Medvedev lost to PCB in the quarterfinals.

I had a bet on Fernandez to win 1 set but that didnt transpire, Raducanu looked
very strong mentally and of course looks to have a very polished tennis game.
Winning the US Open as a qualifier without losing a set is remarkable.

Same thing happened back in 2018 when they faced off with each other. History repeats itself yet again for these two young players.
I guess she had her ticket and knew all the tricks which was used against the veterans in this WTA tour so to stand in the last match.
I wouldn't feel sorry for Fernandez as she did not expect to make it this far into the round let alone into the finals, and neither did her opponent, which had only happened back in 1999.
Well done to both these unseeded players before the US Open started but Raducanu's patience and persistence paid off in the end.

Women's tennis is a different ball game all together, you have a game of 3 sets or so expect your energy reserves to be depleted and I think this is what happened to Fernandez but fact is in anybodies books she is a winner....reaching the US Open finals is easy.

Happy for either to win
A win for either of them was a win for me because it was about time that it didn't go to a known player, and with such a result makes people to believe and fight all the way.

He accidentally hit a line umpire, so he was disqualified.

I have over 38.5 boosted @1.93 for the mens final. Then 3.05 for Medvedev to win ML. In any case that he will win against Djokovic, I reckon it will be in 5 sets so the over can also give me some win. And worst case scenario it can still be covered as well if Djokovic win.

Congrats to Raducanu, last time a British won the US Open, it was Andy Murray.
