yeah, Tsitsipas won easily, but he is so unpredictable that i do not even consider him anymore for serious bets

on the other hand, Ruud seems like having a good form, he lost semi-final to Djokovic in Rome, having two balls for first set, and after lost it, lost the match conception, but now playing well again, did not know that he actually reached top 30 list, he could be a nice surprise in Hamburg and RG as well

I have also come to this when placing bets on Tsitsipas until we start to see him be more consistent in his matches. This is what lets him down, he has a great match but then he seems to let himself and the fans down in his next match just when we think he is finally coming good.

Right, he is very inconsistent and we really don't know, he seems to have some mental lapses as of late. He will be facing Cuevas next, we do hope though that he can get a win and go to the next round. But it won't be that easy because there's a lot of good players winning in this tournament.

Ruud, Bautista-Agut, Rublev and Fognini are going to be tough match for him.

I really hope the rising numbers of virus cases doesn't put a stop to the French Open as it looks like many European countries are now starting a second wave which is unfortunate.
Until now the second wave has not influenced the organizers' decision, the organizers believed enough in allowing spectators to attend matches at the French Open, from the articles I read around 1500/day in two main fields.
https://www.skysports.com/tennis/news/12110/12066233/french-open-2020-spectators-to-be-allowed-despite-increase-in-coronavirus-cases
It will be definitively decided on Friday, but covid toll is growing quickly in France, so there are chances to get a closed doors tournament finally.

I know, he was my main tennis pick today against Paire. Paire was never good against solid players which don't make a lot of unforced errors and Ruud ticks all those boxes very well. Unfortunately Paire forfeited the bet and I had a handicap so void bet. My other pick on multi was Karatsev. I did not watch him play much but he is in incredible form and I am forcing him these last few weeks. Seems like another solid clay player and I will probably play on him again in the next round of RG qualifiers.

I just went with +4,5 on Evans. Seems like a good one to try, no matter the fact that Evans is usually horrible on clay.

Tsitsipas's form has been really erratic so far, he lost heavily against Sinner in Rome. I hope Evans gets to one tie-break, that should be enough for my bet to pass.

Hamburg will be an interesting tournament to follow, after all Roland Garros is around the corner.

EDIT: this really did not end well for me Grin Grin

Congrats to Djokovic on winning his fifth Rome Masters title and he also went passed Nadal with Masters titles now sitting on 36 titles. Djokovic wins a title in every 3.3 tournaments he plays in which is amazing and has also past Nadal with this stat. Djokovic is looking in good shape for the French Open and even though I back Thiem to win the French Open I really think that Djokovic has something to proveafter what happened in the US Open, there is no doubt that he is fired up ready to go when the French Open starts.

Djokovic is in good shape and will want to prove something but I don't think he will win the French Open. Thiem and Nadal are still a lot better on clay.
I am wondering if there will also be players who will pull out of the US Open as the number of Covid19 cases is rising quite fast in France (like in the rest of Europe).

Yeah I do tend to agree with you that Thiem and Nadal are the best two players right now on clay however I think the fire and determination from Djokovic might see him win this years French Open. I really hope the rising numbers of virus cases doesn't put a stop to the French Open as it looks like many European countries are now starting a second wave which is unfortunate.

do not think that there will be a cancellation due to lock-down, it would influence each and every competition, not just Tennis, and also sport industry, and it is not likely to happen again
regarding competition, Djokovic has a good position to see Thiem or Nadal in the final, and not before the final, since he will be a first, and those two would be second and third in the draw table, nevertheless, he needs to reach the final, but i do think that he is determined to get another grand-slam, and situation could not be better for him, in 5-10 years no one would think that competition was scarce when he took some titles, it will only count number of titles on GS

Latest news from BBC Sport: ''Bianca Andreescu will miss her third Grand Slam of 2020 after pulling out of the French Open to focus on recovering from a knee injury before a busy 2021.''
Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/54256125

Andreescu won the 2019 US Open but had not performed for a long time due to injury.
Is this the beginning of a series of tennis player cancellations?
A lot of tennis players did not perform at the US Open and I hope that will not happen at this GS tournament either.

Agree, it looks like the US Open disqualification really took the fire from Djokovic. I'm sure he will be the favourite, together with Thiem and Rafa. Let's see what will be the odds in the French Open, it might not be that attractive for him. And specially if he has a good draw, he could reach the finals that easy.

Đoković does not look that good - at least he did not yesterday.
I did not watch him yesterday but he was bad (by his standards) in all the matches I watched. I have a feeling that first proper opponent who is able to keep his level throughout the whole match could take the match away from Nole. Even when playing bad Nole is good enough to power trough when opponents drop their game and it was enough for Rome final.

And with that said, Djokovic captures his 5th Rome championship trophy with a two set win against Schwartzman 7-5, 6-3. He rally from a double break in the first set and then take control of the second set.

This time it was Schwartzman who made a lot of errors, and Djokovic back hand was too good for the Argentinian. Wish the match could have a third set, but at 5-3 and with three consecutive match point, Djokovic can be denied. He has now 36 ATP Masters 1000 Titles, the most of any player, ahead of Nadal which has 36 and Federer with 28.

I am betting on Scwarzi to take a set or maybe handicap +4.5 against Djokovic today. Both odds are over 2 so I see some value in them. Djoko has 4:0 in H2H but Schwarzi managed to take a set every time they played on clay. If he manages to play against Nadal he can even win here but for me it will be enough to snatch a set or at least keep the match competitive.

I watched Đoković against Ruud yesterday and for as long as Ruud had the strength to attack Đoković looked really inferior and has struggled.
Ultimately his game dropped and Đoković broke twice in a row in the end of the 1st set to avoid the tie-break and then played decent enough in the 2nd to easily go through.

Bottom line - Ruud blew him off the court early on. Đoković does not look that good - at least he did not yesterday.

That will be his main goal for now, he had a good run in Rome but Schwartzman was nearly flawless. And he said in the interview after that match that he knows what he needs to fix in his game. So I expect him to defend his French Open. At least his body could be like 80%-90% now and I'm sure his mentality will be 110%, and perhaps this is the one that he is referring. But knowing Nadal, he usually adjust and perform very well in extreme pressures.

For the French Open, there is no doubt that Nadal has a very big chance be able to defend his title, especially that he is the king of clay and he really prepares for it, but everything can change when it is in the field. Thiem will be a great opponent for him.

Before his loss against Schwartzmann, there was little doubt that Nadal would be able to defend his title. But this surprising loss indicates that Nadal is not unbeatable...
Would be great if Thiem could also win the French Open!

It was really shocking to hear that Nadal is already out, but it is very uncanny of him. 30 unforced errors?  I haven't seen Nadal had this kind of breakdown in many years watching him. Is he injured or something? or just a really bad day or Schwartzman is really that good that day that everything he did, Nadal has nothing to offer?

And we can't really take away the performance of Schwartzman here, he really put Nadal in a awkward position to say the least. So it's more of Schwartzman doing the damage that force Nadal to make a lot of errors.

And speaking of Schwartzman, another great performance from him, beating Shapovalov to reach the finals. At one time he is serving for the match, but Schwartzman come back hard and they are responding shot after shot. And now will be playing Djokovic in the finals.
