I see there has been some games suspended, Stefanos Tsitsipas and the John Isner match was the main one I was keeping an eye on but it got suspended. I'm unable to watch the matches but have been watching the live score updates. Djokovic and Medvedev look good at the moment. At least we are getting to see some players play before the US Open and we can get an idea on how well they are travelling ahead of the grand slam.

Stefanos Tsitsipas got the better of John Isner, 7-6(2), 7-6(4). He will be facing Opelka next.

Womens side is also heating up:

Mertens vs Pegula
Osaka vs Kontaveit
Konta vs Sakkari
Jabeur vs Azarenka

That's good as I haven't been able to watch any of the matches but have been following live on flash score. Have you been watching Tsitsipas and if so how do you think he is going as I'm thinking of placing a bet on him to win the US Open because he is a good hard court player and with less top seeds playing I think he has a good chance. I like Thiem as well but just not sure about him on hard courts, I must admit he is getting better but I just don't know how he will go against some of the other top hard court players.

In first match by your list Mertens vs Pegula Mertens won very easily in Second match Osaka also won but she need some hard work for this third match is also ended as  Konta won in last match Azarenka won against Jabeur.

Tsitsipas also won as Opelka retired in first set even he was leading by 6 - 5

Anybody watching tennis from New York? I was a bit busy and did not watch any matches but i plan to log few hours today before I start to bet serious money on the tournament. Just started with Isner-Millman match to see if Isner is still playing like his old self since he is one of my favorite guys to put some money on. Basically, handicaps since he often plays the matches with lots of tie breaks, same old stuff if you were wondering.

Later today we have first matches for both Djokovic and Thiem so I will watch parts of those matches to see what kind of form favorites brought to the tournament. Djokovic was looking quite vulnerable during Adria tour but that means nothing.
I'm not use to New York tennis but according to the odds Isner is expected to win the on going game, this is not the first he'll go head to head against Millman and it should be the winner. Besides, hes currently leading

Its not looking like a good US Open to watch with more star players pulling out, to be honest I have lost a little interest in wanting to watch the US Open but I will still watch some matches to see how the young talent goes. At least we know one thing and that is we'll see a different Men's grand slam winner for the first time in years.

That's why I argue last month that tennis might end in a sad note this year. Fans are losing interest because they can't see their favourite tennis player in the court. And now that there are a lot of seeded mens/womens pulling out, I wouldn't be surprised to see the viewership hitting all time low in this years US Open. So let's see if Djokovic can make it in time to at least have a seeded player to cheer on.

Yes maybe for the US Open it will be down and many have lost interest because many star players have pulled out but it doesn't mean it will see tennis end on a sad note as we still have the European tournaments to look forward to as the virus doesn't seem as bad as it is currently in the US so there is still hope for tennis this year.

As you pointed out, there are still a lot of tournaments in the line still in 2020. I'm still positive that the US Open will still be good for this year despite many top rank pulling out. Specially as we get into the finals, it will still be watch by many in the States.

It's one of the most anticipated Grand Slams specially that we are still in the pandemic, and players missing out could be a blessing, as fans are going to look as who are going to win this year, specially if an unknown pull the biggest upsets.

Well I'll be watching the finals to see who is there and maybe we might see an up and comer that we know little about in the finals which will make it interesting to watch. I agree that it is the most anticipated Grand Slams because we all want to see a big tournament played and also to see how the players go with no crowds, yes we have seen smaller tournaments but a Grand Slam is a lot different. It will be interesting as some players need the crowds to help boost momentum and get them going and some might like it without crowds so its differently going to be interesting to watch that's for sure.

There's a lot of hype on Coco Gauff though.

Yes, Brady defeated Jil Teichmann 6-3, 6-4 and I would say that this is a successful tennis tournament in the US with no spectators because of the corona outbreak specially in the US.

So good for her, this is a preparation for the US Open which I think bolster her chances to win this year as she will carry the momentum.

I think the hype around Coco Gauff is justified. She is a very big talent and is still only 16 years old. If she can grow further, than she might become the successor of Serena Williams.

That is the hype around Coco, that she could be the next Serena Williams. And she is really doing good so far and even been the darling of the crowds specially in New York. But I think it put a enormous pressure on here that sometimes she had a hard time winning tournaments.

So let's see if she can live up to that and so the hype train continues. And as far as tennis salvaging this year, unless we see top seed players in the field and despite other tournaments in the schedule, I think the year will end up empty.

Often young players are unstable in their appearance, Jelena Ostapenko was one of them when she won her first Grand Slam title at the French Open 2017 she ages about 20 years, but after that there was no major tournament that she could win. Yes, many predict Gauff can become a great player with many titles that can win.

Same here, my interest is also a lot lower due to all the topplayers that have pulled out (especially Nadal, Kyrgios, Federer). We will get a different grand slam winner for the Women, but for the Men, Djokovic is still the favorite to win.

@vella85 I won’t be surprised if this year’s viewership will be the lowest we have seen in year’s, because majority of the stars are absent and that has taken the charm out of this tournament. @babygun yea Djokovic is the favourite to win this tournament, and he’s made his intentions clear that he wishes to win this tournament. Furthermore I also believe that it’ll take some exceptional performance from other player’s, to stop him from winning the tournament.

Novak Djokovic has decided to travel to New York for the US Open amid the COVID-19 pandemic because the 17-times grand slam champion did not want to pass up on the opportunity to close in on Roger Federer's record tally of 20.

Let's talk about the ladies on the Top Seed Open.

Jennifer Brady defeated Coco Gauff 6-2, 6-4 and will face Jil Teichmann for the Finals. Teichmann won against Shelby Rogers 6-3, 6-2 in the other semi-finals.

This is the first US based tournament since the corona virus pandemic.

No wonder Jennifer Brady managed to beat Coco Gauff who was still 16 years old. Because Jennifer Brady has a tournament experience
a lot more than Coco Gauff. Then Jennifer Brady won the tournament Lexington Open after defeating Jil Teichmann in the final. Perfect play
and powerful serve makes Brady beat Jil Teichmann without missing a set. Good play by Jennifer Brady, she deserves to be a champion.
