If you have noticed by now, Monfils, the top seed here and last year finalist was defeated by a young player Jannik Sinner still 18 years young but he shock everyone when he upset Monfils in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Maybe this kid has some potential, maybe not.

He will be going against a solid player in Tiafoe so let's see if his streak does continue.
Monfils is out of form after losing from US open so we can say its usual upset now real test of this kid as Tiafoe is in some better shape this is going to be tough match if this match is won by Sinner then hopefully peoples will notice about him as defeating two players in same tournament is not ususal its difficult for any new player.

I think we can still consider it an upset regardless because the kid is inexperienced and was able to win against Monfils and Tiafoe. But facing against Wawrinka, Sinner melted under pressure, but for sure lots of experience gain in this tournament for him.

So for tennis fans, he will be on the radar for sure, maybe in the next two years his name will be in the top ten so better watch for this kid in the future.

Dream match is on: Andy Murray vs Stan Wawrinka in the finals.

Earlier, Wawrinka goes on and win against the youngster Sinner. And so it's Andy Murray time to keep his part of the bargain, and definitely worked hard on it and beat Humber, 11 years his junior, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. He dropped the first set but eventually recovered and now will face Stan in the finals this Sunday. It was a hard fought battle for Andy, as we all know had a hip surgery, went back unsuccessful in 2018, retired again, come back in 2019 and now we are seeing him in his first finals appearance after his hip injury.

This will be a real est for Murray to see if he can win against Wawrinka. I actually think he is starting to get back to the top form he was in and can beat Wawrinka even though he had an easy win over Sinner. I sometimes think that having tough matches help when making the finals as we have seen it many times before where a player has had a tough tournament they come out and win the final so we could see the same happen here.

Great match between Murray and Copil. Murray had it in the bag in the second set, serving for the match at 5-3, however, Copil broken him and took the second set. But I guess he can't be deny winning, 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-4. Pella and Humbert match ins on-going, I think the winner here will face Murray in the semi-finals.

Sinner also won against Tiafoe, so let's see how far will Sinner go, yes I do believed that Monfils is out of form, but this kid shows something against Tiafoe, now he will be facing Wawrinka another experienced player.
Your guess right, Murray will face Humbert in semis, He won against Pella.
Without understimated Humbert and Sinner I like to see Murray and Wawrinka advance to Final, and there will be two experience players who tried to prove that they can still compete with young players.

That will be a perfect ending for this tournament. Wawrinka is one player who has lost his standings because of injury as well, he stopped Sinner's run here, winning 6-3/6-2. Murray vs Humbert next and hope that Murray win so that we can see Wawrinka vs Murray in the finals.

Murray has a higher chance of winning against Humbert. I really like to see a classic match between Wawrinka and Murray but it would only happen if they both get it to the finals though.

Have the rankings been updated as Medvedev is currently showing he is on 5920 points which still puts him 1030 points behind Federer. As we get closer to the end of the season I'm not sure if he can catch Federer, that's if the points haven't changed.

Not yet, but yeah, I doubt that he will catch Federer in the top 3. But it is considered as a big accomplishment for Medvedev to rank 4 at the end of the season.

Andy Murray beats Cuevas in straight sets. 6-4 6-3, it is a hard fought match but eventually Murray come up on top. Cuevas give everything here, he even save 7 break points in the first set and Andy broke him in the 6 games in the second set. Now it's Murray vs Copil in the quarterfinals.

I thought so as I haven't seen any changes. Yeah it will be a big achievement for Medvedev if he finishes number 4 but if he is able to reach number 3 that would be huge heading into the new season. I think Medvedev is a huge threat to the big three next year and hopefully we finally see a young player win a Grand Slam. Murray is looking good and with every match he has he will only improve and get ready for a big 2020, just think earlier this year it looked like he might be retiring so its good to see him play and keep going.

There have been no changes in the rankings and it seems Medvedev will finish in the fourth position only, as the difference between him and Federer is around 1000 points. Murray is getting his old form back, and let’s hope he will continue displaying this form in 2020 tournaments too. It seems Federer is not retiring anytime soon, as he’s confirmed he’ll be playing at Rolland Garros and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Copil is in good touch but as Murray doing we can hope some good and tough match from these two Murray is doing really hard work for some good spot and stay in touch. Medvedev is also going on positive note for this season and next could be more good for him as he is really hard fought player.

Antwerp Open ongoing:

Big news here is Andy Murray, he is thru to the next round of 16. No upsets so far as the top 4 went on to win their respective games. (1) Monfils, (2) Goffin, (3) Schwartzman (4) Wawrinka.

That's why the focus here in Murray, and let's see how far he goes here. He is slowly getting into the groove and maybe he is inspired because his a expectant father, third child actually.

I haven't seen Antwerp open yet, does  Medvedev and Djokovic have a decent run in this tournament? I wanna see this two play for the finals since they mostly identical in their games.

The reason you haven't seen Antwerp open because it's relatively new tournament added to the 250 tennis, fairly young I would say, just started in 2016. Previous champions are Gasquet, Tsonga and K. Edmund.

Speaking of Tsonga, he was upset by G. Simon, so former champions Tsonga and K. Edmund are out already.  Simon vs Wawrinka in the quarterfinals tomorrow. While Andy Murray will battle it out against Cuevas as to who will move in the QF.

@TravelMug - True, women's side is very unpredictable, no single name pops up in the last 3-4 years. Lots of name in the horizon so let's see how it pans out if Gauff has what it takes to be on top.

I guess the last great womens player we have seen in Graf/Hingis/Serena Williams. After that it's been a roller coaster ride for the womens side, who still remember Caroline Wozniacki who become number 1 without actually winning? How about Safina?

I said that there are a lot of good women's player today, but they are not elite levels as compare to the top champions in the late 90's to mid 2000's.

Match on-going, Medvedev taking the first set 6-4, it wasn't a breeze though as Zverev was able to hold the score 4-4 until Medvedev took the last 2 points of the first set.
Daniil Medvedev played an incredible match, i missed the initial set and thought about wagging a bet on him considering his form this year and i first noticed him when he made a big mess when i waged a bet against him this year where he defeated Andy Murray, Milos Raonic and Wilfried Tsonga and had a really tough match against Rafael Nadal where Daniil Medvedev challenged him till the end. Congrats to the new champion.

As I have said in my many posts here, Medvedev, amongst the top breed of young players of today, has the chance to really break into the top 3. He is really on a Final streak, his last 6:

Events:                    Results:

Washington, D.C.    L to Kyrgios
Montreal                 L to Nadal
Cincinnati               W against Goffin
US Open                 L to Nadal
St. Petersburg         W against Coric
Shanghai                W against Zverev

He just need to break and win a Grand Slam next year to cement himself. I thought that there will be a 3rd set, but eventually won in Zverev 6-4, 6-1 in just over 70 minutes.

That was a dominating performance by Medvedev and now he will move even closer to Federer for that number 3 ranking which will be a huge achievement if he is able to overtake Federer. I agree he now needs to win a Grand Slam to really show that he has taken that next step to becoming a great player like the big three.

True, just by looking at his last 6 Finals appearance, it's not a easy feat to accomplished, just imagine if he won the US Open against Nadal this year. That's why next year will be a big test for him and the rest of the young and upcoming players to really put pressures on the old guards here. And if he wins one Grand Slam next year then there's no doubt that he is the on the rise and give the big 3 time to contemplate.

@TravelMug - True, women's side is very unpredictable, no single name pops up in the last 3-4 years. Lots of name in the horizon so let's see how it pans out if Gauff has what it takes to be on top.

Right now too much talk about mens new generation players but no one talking about we have one really new sesation in femals as well she lost against Osaka in third round of US open and and won against worlds best players in very few weeks look like we have new Serena Williams she is right now just 15 and won in WTA SINGLES Linz Gauff C after beating @Bertens, @Petkovic and @Ostapenko look like great player of new generation.

It's too early to say if she would be the next Serena Williams, but as young as 15 and already playing and beating world class tennis players, she could have a bring future but we will have to see what she can offer.

There are a lot of good female tennis players today, and overall the health of female players are very different as compare to men because of inconsistency, Osaka started this year as number 1 but then slide to number 3. That's why it is hard to see who will be the next generation or at least someone who is as dominant as Serena during her prime years.
