Congrats to Djokovic on winning his third US Open title and now he is equal on Grand Slam wins with Pete Sampras with 14 titles and like I said in a post a while ago, I think he has a huge chance to equal Nadal and even overtake Federer in the next couple of years as long as he stays fit and healthy. Nadal is 1 year older and his body does seem to be taking its toll on him now while Djokovic does look to be back to his best of a couple years ago so that is why I think he could overtake Federer and Nadal in the years to come.

After Djokovic injury and his subsequent comeback, more likely he is somewhat rejuvenated that's why he looks fresh as compare to Nadal which is just a year older than him. I agree that he can overtake Federer because as I have said, he found second wind and the two Nadal and Federer, can't cope up unless they rested their body and carefully choosing tournaments they want to enter. So there's no question that he is really back to reclaim the top spot again and this is bad news. LOL. Yeah, congrats to Djokovic and Osaka as well, for being the first Japanese player to win a US Open or any other majors for that matter.

I also think that maybe Djokovic will soon start to pick less tournaments like how Federer and Nadal have been doing the past couple of years. If he does decide to do this then I think it makes his chances at becoming the top Grand Slam winner a lot higher then if he plays is many tournaments through out the year. It will be interesting to see if Nadal will take a rest now with his knee and come back next year fresh and ready to go for the Australian Open. Federer I think can play in a few more tournaments this year but not sure about Nadal.

Djokovic is one hell of a player, but I doubt if he can surpass the records set by Federer. Still I believe that Federer is the best tennis player of alltime. Now that Djokovic is at it's prime, maybe he can conquer more grandslam.

I was not expecting serena to lose her cool like that. I mean I can understand her loosing a match because after all she is a human and osaka played amazingly and that type of upset happens all the time and there was a lot of people saying she may lose however I did not expected serena to go crazy and have a fight with the umpire, it was awkward to watch let alone be part of that, umpire must have felt so weird when he saw serena loose her cool with him and go crazy.

I mean she yelled I am a mother about a coaching call, what does that have to do with anything. I know she is the greatest of all time but she needs to learn how to lose gracefully.

I feel bad for Osaka, she deserved much more. It was probably the biggest moment of her young life and we should be talking about her play and victory and not about drama queen Serena. Yes, Serena is the best player of all time but yesterday Osaka was simply better and I feel that player with as much experience as Serena should have put the lid on her emotions and let the Osaka take all the glory and enjoy her great achievement.

Totally agree, her tantrums inside the court took away the history that Osaka did for tennis and for her country. Not sure what Serena acted that way specially in the finals. There's too much drama in tennis already, but I guess the women took the limelight this year and Serena takes it to the next level. She would have been the greatest in this era, but with that kind of attitude, I don't know its going to be debatable when she retires.

EDIT:

I watched the video but I don't understand why Serena just blurted and snap at the umpire. She is demanding the umpire to apologise to here and what a perfect time for her to go on a rampage at centre court with the US Open at the line. Is this a excuse from her to lost and blame the umpire?

Osaka will have many more victories but shame on Serena. She will be remembered with this shameful act.

Djokovic is looking really good right now up 2 sets to 0 after winning the second set in a tie break. Del Potro is fighting hard to stay in this match but Djokovic just looks too good for him at the moment. Lets see how if Del Potro can make it go into a 4th set.

Nadal just retired after 2 sets. Sending del Potro to the finals. While Djokovic beat Ken Nishikori 6-3 6-4 6-2. So it going to be Del Potro vs Djokovic for the US Open 2018 championship.

Looks like Nadal had a knee-injury. His previous match might have aggravated his injury. His almost 5 hours match against Dominic Thiem took the toll on this body plus the weather. Well its not a good way for Martin del Potro to win, but a win is a win. It just sad that we are not able to watch those 2 battle it out. Congrats to del Potro and Djovovic, I'm sure that they will give us a good match to see.

I'm thinking that's what happened here with Nadal, the previous match took a toll on his body a bit like what happened to Federer, even though Nadal is fit, his age will start to play against him now. Its a shame that this happened as I was looking forward to another great match and maybe even another Grand Slam final between Nadal and Djokovic. I still think the final will be a good match as Del Potro does play well here and won't be an easy opponent for Djokovic.

On the Women's side there was a big upset today with Serena Williams losing in straight sets in the final to the up and coming Japanese talent Naomi Osaka 6-2 6-4 and becomes the first Japanese player to win a major. There was controversy in the match with Williams getting a game penalty for three code violations. Then it started with her going off at the chair umpire and then Williams called for the tournament referee Brian Earley after the umpire had warned her for being coached by Patrick Mouratoglou in the stands. It was crazy!

Looks like there's more on Serena William's rant at the finals. He accuses the umpire of sexism. In which she called the umpire a liar and a thief. She reason out that on the mens side, the umpire didn't penalised anyone if they break their racquet or men calling umpires several things. So she called she was fighting for women's right or something.

Yes, Nadal played two 2 almost 5 hours matches in the US open. So sooner or later his body will really give up. I haven't watch the match between Osaka and Williams. So there's a lot of drama, typical of Serena specially if things are not going her way. Congrats to Osaka for being the first Japanese to in a major.

@Ranly123 - Djokovic already won against Nishikori. So a Japan win-win in both sides are not possible anymore.

Anyone of you guys following the women's side as well?

Naomi Osaka become the first Japanese woman to reach a Grand Slam finals. She beats Madison Keys and now has set up a finals with Serena Williams.

It will be good news for Japan if Ken Nishikori can muster enough strength to beat Novak Djovokic. It will be historic to see Japan in both side of the division fighting for the US Open trophy.

What an upset, Osaka had defeated Williams in a fairplay competition. Congrats to Naomi Osaka for bagging her first grandslam championship. Another Japanese contender will go up against a champion and that is nishikori. But I guess it's a climb to the mt. Everest for nishikori to pull this trophy since Djokovic is a seasoned contender in a grandslam arena.

Its looking more like a Nadal/Djokovic final whic would be great to see them face off again in a Grand Slam final however I wouldn't count out Del Potro upsetting Nadal as Del Potro has been in top form this year and does have the ability to beat Nadal on his day. Also Del Potro should be the fresher out of the two as Nadal has had a tougher run but as we have seen with Nadal that doesn't stop him. I think Djokovic will be too strong for Nishikori in their match.

Its hard to predict Nadal vs Del Potro. Yes, he has because of a 2 day rest but his previous match shows he is affected by the humid weather as well. So for both semis, its exciting to see Nadal vs Del Potro and see who's going to win. Nadal though has Del Potro's number so its hard to bet against Rafa. On the other side, Djokovic will be the favorite as he is playing great and he is really back after a disastrous year. So more likely we will see Nadal vs Djoovic in the finals.

Wow. Nadal won in a thriller. They fought for almost 5 hours and won 7-6 (7-5) in the final set. Nadal started slow, quite unexpected of him,  but bounce back later and it was not easy, he was almost upset by Thiem here. But as tennis fans, we appreciate this kind of epic battle and sportsmanship at the end. Nadal vs del Potro next for the semis.

We can see that Thiem is going to be a great player in the near future and start to see him winning Grand Slam tournaments. Credit goes to Nadal fighting back from 0-6 in the 1st set to come out as the winner. Nadal is mentally tough which is why he is so hard to beat, the only guy that can match it with Nadal in this is Djokovic. I was close to a nice payday with Thiem but its all good as he did try his hardest last night.

Nishikori is through to the semi-finals after beating Cilic in 5 sets, Nishikori could be the dark horse as we know he does play well at the Us Open.

And down goes my dark horse which is Cilic. Anyways Nishikori is no push over as well, its just that he also endured some injuries this year that's why his name is not in the contention. But winning a Cilic will be a big motivation and could be the dark horse to pull some upsets leading to the finals.

Nishikori is a great tennis player but with the finals coming in a few days, I don't think he can match up against the biggest name in tennis sports. But we can expect a tough game when Nishikori play this time.
