Sinner has still a lot of development to go. His journey in the last 2 years has been
very good, he is hitting the ball harder, his service game is better and his creativity
has increased.

We have seen on many occasions where a player wins a tournament and the following
week he is gone in the first few rounds. As fans of Jannik it would be great to see him
build on last weeks performance.

Yes I believe we are a bit spoiled by Alcaraz because when a player at such a young age is developed like him he also sets new standards and expectations for people who follow tennis, but Sinner still is a young guy who just had his most successful year of his career so far. He also just turned 22, so there is a full year to go until he'll be 23. He still lacks a bit of consistency, but it could be argued that Alcaraz also has his weaker moments like now.

Zverev has problems to get past Medvedev and I doubt that Zverev has the potential to develop any further. He has been stuck at this level forever and occasionally he is able to break through his own barriers, but not really sustainably.

I think Sinner is one of only a few who is and possibly will be able to compete and
win against Alcaraz. Going into the semi final their head to head was 3-3, obviously
Jannik has taken the lead there. As for Medvedev I think for future meetings Jannik
will be able to win again.

He definitely has more developing to do and actually looking back on the match
Jannik was definitely more creative with his play. The future is definitely very interesting
for him.

It is really interesting that Sinner has managed to win so many times against Alcaraz. But only he knows the secret why.
It was a great final against Medvedev. He deserved to win. This was the seventh time that the two met and now Sinner has won against him for the first time.

Sinner is currently in a really good form right now. I personally believe that he will actually be able to give a good competition in this next tournament. He has a match against Giron up Next on October 7. And I actually do not have any doubt that he is going to perform really well in that match.

He is really good against  Alcaraz. Of course, maybe we will never know what is the secret behind that. or maybe we will actually be able to know when both of them retires or something like that. But there is definitely something for which he is able to perform so well against him.

Sinner has still a lot of development to go. His journey in the last 2 years has been

Coco Gauff is going to face Swiatek in her next match. Sakkari was unable to win the match against Coco. Which I think a lot of people did not expect. But in this match, I will say that Coco might not be able to win. I have a feeling that this match is going to be very competitive. And I have said this time and time again that women’s tennis matches are really hard to predict. Anyone can actually end up performing badly on any given day. I won't say that someone has a clear advantage over the other.
Gauff is brimming with confidence, From winning a GS, and knowing she has not lost a game in her last sixteen appearance. Swiatek is a bigger opponent to her, but since she does well with people not believing in her and her abilities, It will not be a surprise to see her win that game too and book her place in the finals of the China Open. Swiatek should be the one not to underestimate Gauff because she has defeated her seven times before and lost only once in the eight times they have played against each other. In this their ninth meeting, Gauff can make it the second time she will defeat Swiatek.

Swiatek is not what she used to be a year or two years ago. Right now she's facing psychological issues, possibly related to her being the highest-paid female tennis player in the world. She can earn x10 more from her advertising commitments than from tennis. What's more, I've heard rumors Swiatek is lesbian and her partner is her psychologist Daria Abramovicz. Either they are about to break up or broke up already but it surely affects her tennis performance.

Sucks it's on at 2:30 in the morning here on the east coast in the states I really wanted to see this one live.  Not a huge tennis fan but I enjoy watching up and comers when they seem like they are hitting theor potential.  Gruff has had a difficult time with swiatek and seems like this one will be more evenly matched.  Good thing for dvrs!

Meanwhile in Shanghai, Roman Safiullin dispatched Sascha Zverev in straight sets 6:3, 6:1! Just wow! Furthermore, Maroszan defeated De Minaur in another surprise of the day: 6:3, 7:5. It's end of the season, guys. Matches are getting more and more unpredictable and betting more complicated!  Cool

Just insane from Safiulin he probobly thinks now why he didnt beat him in the final just two weeks ago. Safiullin playing each week much better then the last and he got a big win and i think he can go far. Maroszan got his big win on start but will he be able to keep the good play is always a question when underdogs win a big match

Oh yeah! I was expecting the match to be close, between Sascha and Roman but wasn't expecting a wipeout. Every previous meeting has gone to a tie breaker at least, while Zverev winning both the previous encounters. Zverev, FAA, De Minur, Tsitsipas are all so inconsistent. You just never know when they just randomly lose. In WTA, Rybakina dispaches top seed Sabalenka in straight sets. Rybakina will be setting up the semis against Samsanova, who's never lost to Rybakina in the previous 3 meetings. The latest one being a couple of months ago.

Rune vs. Nakashima. Should not be such a difficult game for Rune. But quite the opposite. He did not manage a point in the first set. After 26 minutes the set was already over with 0:6. In the second set, however, he seems to have found some strength again. Just 1:2 after 15 minutes, but he has still difficulties and it looks like he will lose this match.

Rune did end up losing the match against Nakashima. Quite a surprise for me as well to be honest. I thought he was going to win the match without any problem at all. But the results were quite surprising 6-0 and 6-2. These were really horrible results for Rune. He is currently ranked three if recall correctly. So watching him losing this match is definitely surprising for a lot of people. But at the same time, congratulations to Nakashima for being able to win this match without too many problems. he definitely performed well in this match.

Coco Gauff performed really well in this match. I have to say the first set was pretty competitive between them. But still, Coco was able to win that first set. And in the second set, it did not feel like she was facing any problems. She was able to win this match easily in the end, which at least I did not expect.
She managed to maintain her winning streak and that is quite impressive for a player who is still so young like her, facing Maria Sakkari in the quarterfinals will be quite a difficult match for her even though her opponent is also not very consistent but Sakkari can sometimes play very well, I think it will be a three-set match.
Iga Swiatek had to go through a very tight match against Caroline Garcia, the first and second sets had to go to a tie break and Garcia managed to make it difficult for Swiatek but the third set was easier for the second seed in this tournament, and Swiatek made it to the semifinals.
The other two quarterfinal matches will also be quite close matches, and Sabalenka vs Rybakina will be the most anticipated, Sabalenka is ahead in H2H but Rybakina is now more consistent in her game and the match will be very tight.

Ruud vs Nishioka might be interesting to bet on. Although 3x on Nishioka still doesn't scream value to me but its a risk that I might be willing to take. Ruud in big tournaments, barely ever performs and Nishioka is very consistent and keeps the ball in play with low errors.
Ruud vs Nishioka have met in two matches. Both have won a match and the latest encounter on 2022 Korea Open and Nishioka won the match. The odds were in favour of Ruud. The recent encounter of Nishioka is against Sinner and he lost it badly. Ruud's encounter was against Alcaraz and Ruud somehow fought and lost the match. Picking Nishioka is risk for sure, and lets see if he can do anything.

Maybe Pegula is in a bad mental state after losing the final? I don't know, but as one of the best in the world in women's tennis, she should be able to handle these things without too much problems. Anyway, the loss was definitely surprising.
I don't know if it's about mental state, because losing in the final to Kudemertova is a defeat that could happen to any player, especially now that Kudemertova is in very good condition, and losing to Ostapenko because Ostapenko performed better with very few mistakes.

That is also true. Her opponents did not perform bad at all. So we can just say that her performance was just not good enough on the given day. Because I do not find any other explanation. On paper, she was better going into both of these matches I believe.

Another young American tennis player is still standing and is competing against Kudemertova in round 3, still in the first set and seeing her increasingly mature performance this will be a big opportunity for Gauff to get to the next round, and perhaps will see the semifinals occur between seeds 1 to 4 in this tournament.

At Beijing WTA two quarterfinal matches are ready to be played: Ostapenko v Samsonova and Garcia v Swiatek.

Two more to go: Rybakina will find out who her opponent will be after today's match between Sabalenka and Paolini. It's going to be a tough fight for a tiny Italian. Sabalenka winning this one will result in one of the best and already considered classic duels against Rybakina in a semifinal.

Two remaining spots will be taken by either Sakkari or Wang and Kudermetova or Gauff. Lots of quality womens' tennis action today!  Cool

In the Sabalenka vs Paolini, it is Sabalenka to win the match. The match between Sakkari and Wang is going on. Sakkari have won the first set and the second set in progress. It looks like a win for Sakkari and we can expect the quarter finals between Gauff and Sakkari as Gauff progressed to the quarter finals winning against Kudermertova 77-65 6-2.

In the quarter finals Iga Swiatek used to be a disappointment in recent matches and I don't expect big from her. So, both Iga Swiatek and Garcia have got similar winning probability. In the match between Ostapenko and Samsonova I believe Ostapenko will win the match.

Finally Sinner has won the first match against Medvedev in his career!
6 - 1 :O impressive this score for the Russian player...

...
Interestingly thats Jannik's 1st win over Daniil, its now 1-6

That is some investment by Nike, they obviously have backed a winner in Jannik.

Probably he will be the only player (actually) able to fight against Alcaraz.
