Novak Djokovic is having trouble with Martin Kliztan in his first match back with that injured elbow.
It doesn't look too good even starting out for Novak being down the first set and Kliztan just hit double serve to be up 4 to 3 games in the final set.
It Djokovic loses this early match in this tournament I would have to say he is no longer a reliable top seed to guarantee match wins to these players who are not in the top 100. Martin Kliztan being ATP ranked 140 before the match with Novak Djokovic.

Note: He just lost his serve match and is down 5 to 3. Looks like he is going to bow out early in this Barcelona tour.nament Undecided

Given the performance of Nadal in Monte Carlo, there is only 1 favorite to win another Roland Garros. I am curious to know what odds the bookies will give us  Tongue

Yeah I'm pretty certain that Nadal will win the French Open once again this year. I'm expecting the odds to be low as he is in fine form on clay heading into the French Open. I'm just glad to see him fit for the Open as it looked like a couple of months ago that he might miss this years French Open.
I hope he does , he deserves it . He has been injury prone but the dedication he has and he never fears that he might get injured again while playing the matches and how he fights for each and every point , he deserves all the trophies . I hope he has a great clay court season just like last year and still be at top spot after clay.
He won his 11th title in Monte Carlo and is currently ranked #1 in ATP competitions.
He could very well win the French open but with all the other players coming back to play in better form since they all rested and didn't have to togh it out to get to a finals except for Alexander Zverev, they all have that on their side.

Sometimes it makes me wonder as to what year it was because you didn't expect that Rafa and Federer are playing high tennis up to this moment.  Grin. Back in January or February, everyone was writing off Rafa because of injuries, but again he proved them all wrong and now he is the big favorite again to win the French Open, and it is said the Rafa owns this tournament and its hard to see him losing it.

Maybe there will be players giving him a good match, specially in the top 10 but I don't see them having a chance to stop him specially at this point.

I really think that the players now days are a lot more professional then back in the day. This is why we are seeing players continue to hold their top form late into their 30's. As long as injuries don't hold them back but as we have seen with Nadal he has come back from several injuries which might of ended many players careers.

I'm looking forward to the French Open even though there are some players in top form, I still can't see Nadal getting beat unless injury strikes him down mid way through the tournament which I hope doesn't happen.

What a pure dominance by Rafa in Monte Carlo. He won it without losing a single set. Not just he didn't lose any, he wasn't close losing it either.
If he continues to play in this amazing shape, I don't doubt he will win French Open easily either.
Not only in Monte Carlo , now he has won 35 sets continuously on clay ( Last year French open first round till now ) . I doubted initially before the start of the tournament whether he can maintain his number 1 till the start of grass season but now I am sure that he will.

I expected Nadal to be in finals but Nishikori ? Its a big surprise because last week in an interview he mentioned that his wrist is not 100% okay . I am really happy for him and am a fan of him , he defeated inform Cilic and Zverev to reach the finals . I know he will give his best but I think the king of clay will win his 11th Monte Carlo title.
Ken Nishikori has been complaining of injury since earlier last year and suspect he has still not fully healed his back and now of how his wrist is not that well either.
Going against Rafael and not 100% going in is just asking for a beating.
I would say it will be in straight sets just so to have a better odds on Nadal to win this tournament yet again for this year. Grin

Jup, Nadal is winning this one. Only problem is bookies now it as well. I just checked the odds it is 1.05 on Nadal win. Will probably play some kind of handicap.
I couldn't agree more. Rafa is in great shape and he will win the tournament. If this is a second round match for example maybe Kei would have some chance but he played some physically hard matches and is much tired than Rafa. That's why I don't give him not much chance for winning Monte Carlo Masters today. The odds are pretty miserable to bet on Rafa so I am going to watch this match and hope that Kei will make it as much interesting as he can.

Tournament in Monte Carlo is going on with Alexander Zverev trying to beat the veteran Gasquet.
But is having difficulties in the final set. Embarrassed

Rafael Nadal is looking for his first major ATP trophy of the year with dismissing Thiem in straight sets and one of those being 6-0.
If that doesn't tell you he is the king of clay then I do not know what would. Smiley

I was really impressed with the way Nadal started the clay part of the season. I know he is a king of clay but after all injury problems I thought he will have few shaky performances. I lost quite a good ticket when playing handicap on A. Zverev in Davis cup. Nadal made it look so easy in that match. After seeing that, I expected good performances in Monaco and managed to win few nice bets.

It's pretty hard to predict winner tonight. I would give the slight role of a favorite to Zverev since he has won all three previous matches between them.
Although, Isner has been playing this year's Miami in awesome shape so it should be pretty interesting match to watch. Let's see.

See my prediction at the top, I predicted that it is going to be hard win for Isner but atleast he has a very good chance to win. He wont let this chance slip away, in term of motivation I think that Isner is much better. The match is not really about the motivation but when you are more motivated then you are going to win the game most likely
Sure Isner's motivation is much better than the younger Zverev but Alexander can out maneuver the big man quite easily. Even John Isner admitted this after the Juan Del Porto match as he can not move from one far side of the court to the other if the shot is long.
I'd imagine he can not play the net like Zverev either. So he will have to rely on his bombs from the baseline just like he has always had.
It will make for an interesting match indeed but I think the German is due for a win since he hasn't won a finals in over a year now.

I am watching the match now and Isner is much better player at the moment. The only thing keeping Zverev in the match is the fact that Isner is playing really bad on break points. He has 1 converted from 11 chances. No breaks in final set for now so all is open.

A.Zverev has just won 2-0(7-6 6-2) against Carreno-Busta quite easily and will play in the final against Isner!
if he wins the tournament he will return to third place in the atp ranking.
if he manages to get good results in slam tournaments this year, he can start thinking about the first place overall!

Isner is playing really well at the moment. He is almost untouchable at first serve and he is making over 70% first serves. On the other hand Zverev knows how to play against him, they played 3 times and Zverev won all 3. I am thinking this one goes to 3 sets and quite possible we will see at least 2 tie breaks.

Against Isner it is going to be hard. Although Zverev has higher ATP but dont forget that Isner has made all his way to the final and he is not just going to lose the game like that. It will be a complete turnover if Isner can win the game as every sportsbook now give Isner higher odds to encourage more people to wager for him
