today precious victories for Dimitrov against Rublev and Kyrgios against Tsonga both for 3-1.
now there will be a great match between them in the next round.
Nadal and Cilic easily win 3-0.
Seppi won the marathon against Karlovic (in almost 4 hours).

Can not believe we had our very first favorite of the A.O to exit the tournament so soon.
Stan Wawrinka was atleast expected to make it closer to the semi finals as there is about two weeks left to go.

Very bad luck for him to not put up much of a challenge for such a poor player he was defeated by. Sad

Is there by any chance I am going to win this paralay?

Already lost a 3.22x paralay because of the Wawrinka match. Who thought he'd loose staight 3 sets so badly.

I don't know many of the players, but a 9-fold is always very difficult to win. I tried in the past, but now I limit to 3-4 matches.

Surprising loss by the way from David Goffin in the Australian Open today, didn't expect him to loose against Benneteau. Probably it is was to warm for him to play at his best.

there were two excellent eliminations: Goffin (last year he reached the quarterfinals) and Wawrinka (last year he reached the semi-finals).
Now Federer has an easy draw up to the semi-finals:
in the third round Gasquet, in the fourth round Fuksovic or Kicker, in the quarter-final probably Del Potro.

Edit : Till now have won 4 out of 5 matches that have been played till now. But have already lost a game so the paralay is lost. Though lost the 5th game by a close margin too.

Not a very confident win for Djokovic but he did well to win against Monfils. Djoker isn't in a great form and you could clearly see him struggling with his new action for serve, hope he does something about it.

Djokovic didn't play for long time and made a lot of changes to his game. He changed his serve motion to go easy on elbow, changed the shoes and also the racket. He said himself that those two may seem like small changes but they make quite a difference on the level tennis is played today.

Now I believe he just needs time to grow his confidence back and get used to all those changes. 3:1 in sets against Monfils would be a good result even for 100% ready Djokovic so I think he is happy with the performance and will get better with each consecutive match.

Today have won many favorites: Federer, A.Zverev, Wawrinka, Djokovic, Goffin, Berdich, Thiem, Del Potro.
Raonic was instead eliminated!
Those names were expected to go thru and advance to the next rounds. Those are all the favorites to win their matches.
But Raonic is always a let down in the first few rounds.
I think I only remember him getting to the semi-finals once last year but once again he was eliminated to not go thru to the quarter finals. Very sad performance as they always have him as the favorite in most of his matches but he can never seem to finish well.

Even today they have won almost all the favorites:
Nadal, Kyrgios, Tsonga, Dimitrov, Carreno-Busta, Muller, Cilic, Rublev.
I expected more surprises in this first part of the tournament!

in the third round there will be some interesting matches: Muller vs Carreno-Busta, Dimitrov vs Rublev, Kyrgios vs Tsonga

Sometimes an outburst is still funny to watch  Grin. Nowadays there a lot young players who are talented (Kyrgios, Dimitrov, Raonic, Cilic,...) but they need to step it up. In the last 8 years all grand slams were won by Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Murray and Wawrinka. Only the US Open in 2013 was not won by one of these players.

I agree with the spirit of your post but you have your facts seriously wrong.
Grand Slam winners other then big 4:
2016   U.S. Open   Stan Wawrinka
2015   French Open   Stan Wawrinka
2014   U.S. Open   Marin Cilic
2014   Australian Open   Stan Wawrinka

An to top it of actually U.S. Open in 2013 has been won by Rafael Nadal.

Furthermore Cilic is not so young he has 29 years almost same as Murray and Djokovic.

My bet for this slam is surely going to be Kyrgios.

He has the game but not the head. He is playing with backing of home supporters and could go far if he doesn't break apart in some match. Should be ok in the early rounds but I can totally see him loosing match against Federer after leading 2:0 in the sets and breaking apart because half of the stadium supports Federer in spite of them playing in Australia.

Even Murray had problems with that kinds of situation in Wimbeldon and I consider him much stronger in head department than Kyrgios.

Kyrgios is no doubt a great talent, but like you say, I don't think he has the head of a champion. To become the best of the world, you need to perform at your best when the stresslevel is maximal!

Yeah that guy really has championship level talent, but his outbursts in the past and attitude are what's holding him back. At first it was funny and entertaining, but he should focus on becoming a champion. Actually, he is still very young and I think the older we get we are more mature, so he'll be a champion someday.

Waiting on Federer to take this one as he is the favorite to win it this year yet again.
Jokovic is set a over 7.00x odds to win it so they do not expect him to get to the semis with those numbers. Undecided
But it is tennis, so you never know. Roll Eyes

I really am impressed with Berdych because the young gun Alex was in great form and Berd defeated him rather easily . Wawrinka is not fully fit and I expect him to be eliminated in the next round ( but I don't want him to ).
What makes you think Wawrinka will be defeated? He has been in a great touch fitness is a little bit issue but I don't really think that making it atleast into the quarters will be much difficult for him. He has been in a good touch last season too.
Day 1 of the Australian Open tossed up some upsets with a few of the top seeds going out in the 1st round like Venus Williams, Vandeweghe, Stephens and S.Peng from the Women's draw. The Women's is wide open this year with Serena Williams not being there and now with a few of the other top seeds going out in the 1st round. And in the Men's draw the big outs on day one are Sock, Isner, Pouille and Anderson. It was a very bad day for the USA with many of their top seeds dropping out. Nadal and Kyrgios breezed through with no problems. Looking forward to seeing Federer in action today.
Isner was the biggest upset. I don't know why but I have so much hopes from this man. I think he has always had that capability of playing some good games but don't know why he has never been able to come at top. He gives a flop show once again. My bet for this slam is surely going to be Kyrgios.
